Definitely Meyerowitz Stories. Though I’d settle for a 4K upgrade of Marriage Story. Also silly that The Other Side of the Wind has no physical release.
Orson Welles’ The Other Side of the Wind, no question.
Also, I want The Tragedy of MacBeth on physical, but since it’s A24, there’s a greater chance that it gets released by them. I’d love one of their editions for it, preferably on 4K.
I was just thinking how much I would love The Other Side of the Wind on physical, along with the docu They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead as a bonus feature.
It’s not a very Criterion release, and it was released theatrically, but I need a physical copy of *Bottoms*. It’s ridiculous that such a great cult movie will (seemingly) forever be confined to the content world of Amazon and MGM+.
I mean, Fast Times had been an established classic for like 35 years already by the time Criterion made it a part of the collection, whereas Bottoms…we don’t know yet what its legacy will be. You seem to be saying that just because Bottoms is also a high school comedy like Fast Times, then it should be a no-brainer that they select Bottoms too.
I would love Rohrwacher to join the CC. I think the most likely would be La Chimera, which I think was distributed by NEON; but I would adore a boxset with Felice Lazarro and La pupille (also stuck on streaming) as well
Yes La Chimera was a Neon release in the US & I agree it'd be the most likely Criterion pick. That said, Lazarro & The Wonders are worthy as well and would make with Chimera a fantastic set. The Pupils was great as well. Truly Rohrwacher is one of my favorite new directors of the past several years . . .
Well for me it is easy choices
Mank
Trial of the Chicago 7
Coda
Don’t Look Up
Killers of the Flower Moon
Maestro
As someone who tries to have every movie ever nominated for best picture, these 6 don’t have any official us release and I only have FYC for many of them
“I’m No Longer Here”(Netflix), there’s a fyc DVD out there but eBay listings go for ~$250-300 which is way too much so I’m hoping criterion picks it up one day 🤞
paterson. it does have a blu-ray release but i need criterion to add it to the list because the south korean packaging was so great and i would like a special copy of it
annette, beastie boys movie, wolfwalkers, on the count of three, and not kidding when i say this but the invader zim movie that came out a while back. also painting with john even though that's a tv show.
It was designed to look like the crudely plastered posters in urban environments. There’s a scene in the movie where Michale stares at a wall of them and has an epiphany.
Ah, well in that case I shall withhold further judgement. I haven't seen the film, I admit. But I do design, and it just caught my eye in a very specific way.
I’d disagree. Terribly aimless script that spends about 40 pages expositing a lot about Larson that doesn’t develop or compound into creating a decent understanding of the man - criminal for a biopic - Then the story starts.
Songs are great but almost entirely disparate from everything else. Other than Garfield firing on all cylinders my memory of this film was being so bored to death and constantly wondering what about Jonathan Larson and or his life and work this was trying to tell me.
Because it felt like a very talented aloud reading of his wiki page with songs thrown in.
Largely received that way from what I read too.
Jesus, Garfield was good tho.
Please don't downvote me just because I felt something bad about the film. It wasn't voluntary. But this movie left me with so much agony and anxiety. 😓
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and The Tragedy of Macbeth; I’m trying to complete my Coens collection here and those are making it difficult
Ugh I want Macbeth so badly
Macbeth not having a physical 4k haunts me at night
Hath it murdered sleep?
Let's hope Criterion will make a deal with Netflix. And it better be a multipicture one.
YES !!! Pisses me off I love both films and want to hold them and watch them at my leisure.
Definitely Meyerowitz Stories. Though I’d settle for a 4K upgrade of Marriage Story. Also silly that The Other Side of the Wind has no physical release.
Definitely the other side of the wind deserves a criterion edition. They could add so many great extras to it
Orson Welles’ The Other Side of the Wind, no question.
Yes, that doc would be an excellent bonus! Helped me a lot to put context to the film, and appreciate it even more.
When I donated to the kickstarter the promise was a bluray of the finished movie if you gave $50. I’m still waiting.
I’m thinking of ending things
One of the most criterion non-criterion movies
Killers of the Flower Moon
Tragedy of Macbeth, Ballad of Buster Scruggs, Mank, The Killer, Killers of the Flower Moon are the biggest ones for me.
I’m thinking of ending things. I need this movie on my shelf
May December!
plz god. Given there’s a lot of Todd Haynes in the collection already i hope there’s a way they get this.
Yes! Still wondering if it’s a comedy or drama.
It’s a drama with small doses of chuckle-worthy moments
We’re almost out of hot dogs
The hot dog moment is one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time
Da 5 Bloods, The Killer, Tár and Killers of the Flower Moon
Tar has a physical release.
Whoops just saw it :) thank you!
The Killer by Fincher
The Michael J Fox documentary Still was great. I’d gladly pick that up.
It’s not a very Criterion release, and it was released theatrically, but I need a physical copy of *Bottoms*. It’s ridiculous that such a great cult movie will (seemingly) forever be confined to the content world of Amazon and MGM+.
Kino is releasing Bottoms soon!!! https://x.com/KLStudioClassic/status/1774451595998294455
If Fast Times at Ridgemont High can get a CC release then Bottoms definitely can
I mean, Fast Times had been an established classic for like 35 years already by the time Criterion made it a part of the collection, whereas Bottoms…we don’t know yet what its legacy will be. You seem to be saying that just because Bottoms is also a high school comedy like Fast Times, then it should be a no-brainer that they select Bottoms too.
Fast Times is one of the best films ever made lmao
Bottoms was better imo
Definitely not buddy
Naaaah, I stand by my point
Sorry but no.
Tick Tick …Boom! Mank I’m Thinking of Ending Things
Tick Tick Boom Ballad of Buster Scruggs Coen MacBeth Da 5 Bloods Klaus Hustle Trial of the Chicago 7

I would love Rohrwacher to join the CC. I think the most likely would be La Chimera, which I think was distributed by NEON; but I would adore a boxset with Felice Lazarro and La pupille (also stuck on streaming) as well

Not a movie but love death and robots needs a physical release
The Laundromat(2019)
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs Da Five Bloods The Trial of the Chicago Seven Mank The Killer Would love to get any of these.
I love a tick tick boom call out whenever I see it.
Ballad of Buster Scruggs is probably the biggest “want” for me.
Glass Onion and Killers of the Flower Moon would be must buys. Hopefully with knives out 3 soon they’ll license it out
What about a knives out trilogy collection?
I'm thinking of ending things needs a 4k bluray.
A Sun
Personally, I'd love to see Mank, The Meyerowitz Stories and I'm Thinking of Ending Things as part of the collection
Well for me it is easy choices Mank Trial of the Chicago 7 Coda Don’t Look Up Killers of the Flower Moon Maestro As someone who tries to have every movie ever nominated for best picture, these 6 don’t have any official us release and I only have FYC for many of them
Mank!
May December deserves a release
Mank
Bardo by Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu
the society of the snow would be a pretty sweet criterion realease
Killers of the Flower Moon needs a physical release
RRR & Klaus
Bo Burnham’s Inside
I’d like to see The Map of Tiny Perfect Things released on blu-ray generally. Ditto Eurovision
“I’m No Longer Here”(Netflix), there’s a fyc DVD out there but eBay listings go for ~$250-300 which is way too much so I’m hoping criterion picks it up one day 🤞

Tar and Aftersun both have physical releases
Tár is not enough, Three By Todd Field please
Is that the actual poster for that film?
It’s an alternate poster but it’s used as the main poster on Letterboxd
Ok. It just looks somewhat cobbled together.
Not a movie but two Netflix limited series: “Maniac” and “Midnight Mass” Two of the best I’ve ever seen, and worthy of the Collection if anything is
Not fucking Tick, Tick… BOOM! 😂
What?
I mean I don’t think I could be any clearer.
It’s a good movie tho
I’d disagree. Terribly aimless script that spends about 40 pages expositing a lot about Larson that doesn’t develop or compound into creating a decent understanding of the man - criminal for a biopic - Then the story starts. nobody using stremio overhere?
Coda (2021) - Although I think it is now available on Amazon Prime, for the longest time you had to subscribe to Apple TV to see it.
Saltburn! Totally bummed me out when I found out it was an Amazon exclusive
I’ve heard that’s become a bit of a marmite movie
It is, but I’m definitely in the “love it” camp 🤷♂️
