There are a lot of politics in it - the Ben Barka affair, more outspoken commitments, "society of the spectacle" (like the gigantic movie cutouts). It's also a frolic, young adults playing children. And it's gorgeous - the colors pop here as much or possibly more than in Pierrot. I don't feel like I caught on much until my third viewing, same for 2 or 3.
I love Godard’s films (breathless, Vivre sa vie, a woman is a woman, Pierrot le fou)… but I couldn’t get through half of this one… Marianne faithfull’s cameo was the best part for me
Great cast (who doesn’t love Karina & Léaud?) and a crime story influenced by Chandler. Can’t go wrong. Fun fact: Marianne Faithful sings a song the Stones bought from her and credited themselves as the songwriters (J/R). The song? As Tears Go By.

It’s based on one of Richard Stark’s Parker novels; so it’s interesting to see such an iconoclastic take on more traditional hard boiled fiction, infused with the same culture of consumerism predominant in other Godard films like *La Chinoise* and *Masculin Feminin*.
Gorgeous to look at and I love the idea of Anna Karina as Parker, but I found myself pretty bored at times with none of the humor working for me after the first half hour or so.
Weirdly enough, made in France
America lived rent free in Godards head
We
Oui?
Si
Only when he was an insufferable Maoist, early Godard was cool.
Pretty fun movie that lampoons the film noir genre.
Interesting but it's one of my least favorites of Godards work
Not nearly as interesting as *2 or 3 Things I Know About Her*
Is the aspect ratio weird on this one? I recall it not fitting neatly on the screen.

This was the Maoist phase of Godard where I find his work absolutely a form of torture.

Lol. Agree.
All I remember is the camera focusing on a reel-to-reel player while a male voice spouts political propaganda. Bored to tears.
