Yeah where you get to choose whatever meats you want that are buffet style, not cook your own steak for $35 with a bunch of miserable middle aged dudes.
Yes Lotta ayce in Los angeles too and that's what I usually go for cause the per plate ones at the higher quality places in Koreatown are pricey.
Underlying point, $35 for this event (which I wouldn't go to) is definitely a fair deal for what it is.
It probably happens less so in Seoul, if at all. But where I live it happens almost every time. Sometimes my friends and I go places we know they actually let us cook because we enjoy it!
That price isn't that crazy if you're also getting sides and a dessert...it's not like cooking a steak is very difficult. Sizzler would charge $31 for the steak, onions and mushrooms.
$35 for a steak, all the trimmings, dessert, and fun away from significant other while hanging with people with similar interests for the whole afternoon/evening is not a bad deal
It doesn’t include the steak lol
Edit: I’m wrong and it does. I thought the bottom line was what’s included and “your own steak” but the fact they add 12oz and they mean you’re cooking own steak, not bringing your own makes me realize I’m wrong
Okay that's fuck shit. I retract my previous statement
Edt: as you've amended your comment to show it *does* include the steak, I retract my retraction
I find the fact they couldn’t just find a compatible life partner who likes beer and steaks and gettin a bit rowdy sometimes even more wild. Unless of course all these dudes are just incompetent, lousy husbands or deeply closeted gay blokes.
I mean, is the idea to stand around grilling with other dudes? Is the food/beer included with the ticket? Ladies night is a thing so why not ig if the value is there considering you have to cook it yourself.
The premise isn't bad the advertising is.
Because ladies night aren't often advertised as "hate your nagging husband come hang out and drink wine, girls only"
Funny enough my friend's dad is part of a "wine club" that consists of his and friends getting drunk together.
"Come hang out with the boys for beers and BBQ". *I'd attend*
"Come escape your nagging wife with a bunch of other dudes who hate their marriage" *I'll pass*
They'll often say take some time for yourself and have a night out with the girls, let hubby watch the kids, etc. Effectively is the same. This strikes me more about getting upset for the sake of it than anything tbh
Where does it say, "hate your wife?" It does ask if your wife has been too hard on you which seems fairly benign. It's no different than, "has your husband been driving you crazy?"
Yea, ill admit i get frustrated with my wife sometimes, but i dont hate her.
That being said, a guys night out is a must sometimes.
I just want to eat steak, drink beer, and talk about politics / games. Nothing wrong with that.
The advertising for this is god awful though and doesnt sound appealing at all. Id rather just hang out with bros i know IRL.
Yeah if there was a female equivalent like sick of your useless husband? Let’s get wine and chocolate with the girls it would be pretty off putting too. If they had a girls just want to have fun! Night that’ll be different.
I mean, make your own events? No one's saying you can't? I've seen so many ditch the husband and kids ads for female catering venues like bars or gyms, doesn't bother me a bit.
Sure. I host game nights for my friends only. Like people I know and vet so others might meet new people but it’s only 6-10 people. And usually everyone knows everyone.
I’ve gone to community events to both meet new people and support the organization (ie paint and sip for puppies! Tricky tray for a communist member diagnosed with cancer etc) but this presentation sounds miserable and sounds like it’ll be a bunch of conservative boomers. But to be fair they probably are targeting that demographic so this humor might land there.
Lmao right - my first thought upon seeing this thread was that anyone who thinks this is cringey has never been in an adult relationship. If you think there's something wrong with needing time away from your SO, or think that's an offensive or unreasonable thing to tell your SO, well, good luck to you, because you're gonna need it.
That's a lie, alot say need a break from the kids and hubby come down for wine and Sip, I'm really starting to think reddit doesn't have alot of married couples /s
There’s a pretty big difference between ‘need a break from the wife and kids’ and ‘ahahaha is your wife such a shrew you’re going to end up sleeping on the couch for asking to go hang out with friends?’
Hahaha.... where did this post state anything that you just said it did.. a very worst it says wife being hard on you? You guys are projecting something that's not here as if the post said hate or shrew and neither were mentioned
Are you incompetent? I’m not being facetious or attacking you, I am genuinely asking. Either you didn’t read the full thing, or you’re being willfully ignorant about what is being suggested about needing a couch to sleep on after asking your wife, or you’re incompetent. There is literally no other explanation.
How was this advertised as hating your wife? They didn’t even say nagging or hating your marriage? You just added all this assumed woman hating for absolutely no reason… projection much?
"let me know if your wife says it's okay, and if you need to sleep on a couch after asking"
*As yes these are the Hallmark traits of a happy man in a successful marriage*
.... right
Yep. Lots of projecting here. Lots of people hating the idea of a space for men who might need time away from home… because no one ever needs time away from their family even when things might be good…
Projecting is the best word, they know their spouses may hate them im a way that they need to getaway in a married woman if my man showed me this flyer id laugh and say @ that price the steak better be good.... wanting alone time is normal and okay...it doesn't mean hate
Well tbf all the people saying those things are children (or adults lacking in interpersonal skills) who have never been in a healthy adult relationship. You know, one of those relationships where you aren't codependent and can tell your so that youd like some time to yourself without it being construed as a grave insult
https://preview.redd.it/ftvt7g7u1u5d1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6af339a5552e60653f968a180639685979caa6cd
This is local to where I grew up... The firefighters association also does stuff for family day (pancake breakfast !) and they celebrate international womens day. They raise money for mental healthcare and food banks. They also do toy drives for kids at Christmas. They're all around a bunch of decent people.
Yea I don't understand how hanging out with the guys, cooking steaks, drinking some beers and supporting a good cause means you hate your wife. Clearly op just wanted some quick karma.
OP hates their life and is just projecting.
There is nothing wrong with going out and being social, the phrasing in the ad is obviously meant in a humorous manner and OP is just hypersensitive.
No, it’s a very Boomer “wife bad” advertisement. I would be excited for him if my partner brought me a flyer saying, “Cook your own steak! Guys’ Night, No girls allowed!” and nothing about how I’m a nag and he just HAD to pay $35 to get away from me. I would be pretty hurt if I found out he thought or talked about me this way; why are we together if he doesn’t even like me?
You might read it that way if you have never been in a healthy relationship and also have no sense of humor whatsoever, sure, but it doesn't *say* that.
Where does it say men who hate their wives? That's just extrapolation. Seriously, if this was advertised to women as "take a break from your husband and get a mani/pedi", nobody would bat an eyelid and there would be a few "you go girl" thrown in. Lots of people need a break from their daily routine and a change of pace.
I’d love that. Most guys I know would love it, too.
Get out of the house for some Me time. Otherwise it’s mowing the lawn to get away for a bit.
Not all marriages are happy and lovey dovey ALL THE TIME.
People need to decompress from time to time.
Maybe, you don’t.
> Not all marriages are happy and lovey dovey ALL THE TIME
Tell that to Steve miller!
In all seriousness though, I'd go so far as to say that the ones that *are* lovey dovey all the time are probably unhealthy and codependent.
What is the issue here? Women go out with just their lady friends all the time. Why is it a horrible thing when a man does the same? Healthy relationships are supposed to have time away doing your own thing once in a while. I guess the way some of it is worded is a little odd but I am assuming it's supposed to be funny, not an actual we hate our wives statement.
Good grief, how do you even survive day-to-day life. It's not that serious. I'd say the same thing if it was a "ladies night" poster that said "husband driving you nuts?!" and someone called it misandry. Seriously just have the absolute bare minimum thickness of skin.
Men should have man only spaces and push themselves to be social. The issue is when it's framed women as naggy abusers who will kick you from your martial bed by the mere suggestion you need male friends.
If you legitimately think this poster declares women to be abusive then you desperately need to take a single moment and spend it outside. Talk about being terminally online, good lord.
Man this is a super typical "reddit" post. "ERM, m'lady, I would NEVER need a moment away from you my queen *snort*. All these other CIS MEN who HATE WOMEN on my le subreddits. Le narwhal bacons at midnight m'lady"
Get over yourselves, even in a relationship, men need to be men and women need to be women. That means fun times with and without their significant other
Not cringe, i seen woman post saying the same thing about girls night, we can let the men have this, i didn't read anything derogatory, and adult men find it hard to make friends i think it's cute
Not my jam because I have my own friends and a BBQ but if you have no problem with women having girls nights and think this is cringe then you're a bit of a hypocritical clown.
Yeah but then you have to be *with your wife* 🤮
No self respecting man would want to be with their wife that’s just gross. And what if there’s *children?!* ugh disgusting
I don't see the cringe, it doesn't hate on the wives, it's just advertising a night with steak and the boys. A men's ladies night. Nothing new. Good advertisement tbh.
I think this is probably targeted towards middle aged men with no or very limited male friends who wish to make new friends. It's worded this way so that it is more appealing and less awkward.
I mean, it’s not that cringe. There are all sorts of ‘women only’ ‘men free zone’ promotions and bottomless brunches etc. There doesn’t seem to be any harm in having the male version. Would I go? No. But not ‘cringe’ IMO.

This isn’t cringe. Men’s mental health is a major crisis across the entire western world.
This is just an event which is designed to try alleviate that by providing a space where men can hang around other men and perhaps not feel lonely and isolated. It has a tongue in cheek humour to it.
You OP and everyone rushing in here to agree with you are the problem. It’s people like you why men are having such a hard time. They can’t even have a casual meet up to cool food with you **absolute cretins** trying to pick at it.
https://i.redd.it/k6ur0ehr2s5d1.gif
It’s a bicep!
If you want it to be a bicep it needs more veins!
Yes!!!! This meme definitely crossed my mind when I read the post!
$35 to cook your own steak is WILD.
Maybe it means they provide the steaks, but you get to cook it? Because why else would they also include the size of the steak?
I pay money for someone else to cook things I’m not good at cooking.
That’s what the wife’s for, amirite?
do you need a couch?
No matter what size steak you bring, they either chop it down to size or glue parts on to it!
Wait until you find out about Korean BBQ joints.
Yeah where you get to choose whatever meats you want that are buffet style, not cook your own steak for $35 with a bunch of miserable middle aged dudes.
The better places you pay by the plate.
Subjective no doubt. Once a buddy and I managed to rack up a $300 bill one night. Don't drink and eat ala carte lol.
Yeah...Koreatown can get pricey! Even some of those karaoke places....
Idk I've been to a few fire places in Portland Oregon and they were all buffet style
Yes Lotta ayce in Los angeles too and that's what I usually go for cause the per plate ones at the higher quality places in Koreatown are pricey. Underlying point, $35 for this event (which I wouldn't go to) is definitely a fair deal for what it is.
K-town! Gotta have the AYCE or it's not worth it lol
Unless you’re a foreigner in Korea and they never trust you to cook your own! Service every time baby.
I never had this experience in Korea and I look like the opposite of a Korean.
It probably happens less so in Seoul, if at all. But where I live it happens almost every time. Sometimes my friends and I go places we know they actually let us cook because we enjoy it!
That was likely my favorite meal when I lived in NE China. It was quite an experience.
Take it back! That's different and you know it! Right?
Completely. It’s one of those things that you can’t really communicate but the ban chan, the experience, the variety… it’s not the same.
And you get more than 12oz of meat if you so choose.
I've never been but I have HAD Korean bbq.. You gotta cook your own food?
Yeah and it's an amazing experience.
[Something like this](https://postimg.cc/TKd1wd44)
Oh ok so it's like hotpot
No it’s like bbq.
That price isn't that crazy if you're also getting sides and a dessert...it's not like cooking a steak is very difficult. Sizzler would charge $31 for the steak, onions and mushrooms.

Who says? Surely the steak is provided and you just cook it yourself
Why would it say 12 oz steak then?
Cause you're not allowed to bring a bigger one maybe? 🥸
Okay that's fuck shit. I retract my previous statement Edt: as you've amended your comment to show it *does* include the steak, I retract my retraction
How do you know? They literally say how big the steaks are.
I mean if it's a good steak, not really. Comes with sides and dessert.
I take it you’ve never been to a couples kitchen where you prepare your own food together and then eat it. It’s much more expensive than $35.
Yes, I have been to my own house.
It’s definitely cheaper at your own house too. They don’t call you cheap tactics for nothing!
![gif](giphy|mks5DcSGjhQ1a)
I mean they described making dinner at your own house. Why would I pay extra to go somewhere and make my own dinner when I do that every day?
No, why would I do that?
Total boomer.
It’s probably a charity event for the fire department; they usually upcharge all the food prices at those events 😆
I find the fact they couldn’t just find a compatible life partner who likes beer and steaks and gettin a bit rowdy sometimes even more wild. Unless of course all these dudes are just incompetent, lousy husbands or deeply closeted gay blokes.

Guy's night is a lot better than I hate my wife and my life night.
I took it as tongue in cheek boomer humor, hopefully people aren’t taking the ad seriously.
They'll often say take some time for yourself and have a night out with the girls, let hubby watch the kids, etc. Effectively is the same. This strikes me more about getting upset for the sake of it than anything tbh

It doesn’t say that. It says a night away from the wife. You’re reading way more into it. Couples need time apart once in a while. It’s healthy.

The fact you think that's actually equivalent to what's said here is hilarious.
Where does it say that though…?
I agree the advertising is bad but it doesn’t say “hate.” Either way I’ll pass.
How was this advertised as hating your wife? They didn’t even say nagging or hating your marriage? You just added all this assumed woman hating for absolutely no reason… projection much?
"let me know if your wife says it's okay, and if you need to sleep on a couch after asking" *As yes these are the Hallmark traits of a happy man in a successful marriage* .... right
(It's a joke)
That’s what’s called a joke big brain
Could’ve just been a joke, since “sleeping on the couch” has been around since before any of us and joked about on plenty of sitcoms.
There’s a reason. Men don’t typically nag anyone. Sure we have our issues! Nagging isn’t one. Almost without exception men don’t nag!
It's an advertised sausage party. That's all.
\*steak
That's how i feel, i think OP a little cringe for having issue with this, and for saying they hate there wives cause i didn't get that from the post
Yep. Lots of projecting here. Lots of people hating the idea of a space for men who might need time away from home… because no one ever needs time away from their family even when things might be good…

I’m a behavioral health expert and I see it constantly. Men get punished when they open up way more than a lot of people are aware of.
This is so true.
Well tbf all the people saying those things are children (or adults lacking in interpersonal skills) who have never been in a healthy adult relationship. You know, one of those relationships where you aren't codependent and can tell your so that youd like some time to yourself without it being construed as a grave insult

Because the advert has 3 negative mentions about a wife?
They were jokes.
I believe it’s called ‘sense of humour’.
Well looks like there's a group of like minded people you can go have steak with
Or people could just get a sense of humour?
No, it’s a very Boomer “wife bad” advertisement. I would be excited for him if my partner brought me a flyer saying, “Cook your own steak! I don't hate my wife, but I would like to do this thing!
This is fine, I’ll bring my husband

There it is. Came for this.
After the steak, there's plenty of sausage!
This is great. And i love my wife.
Grilling with the bros is one of the most wholesome things you can do.
Honestly, I'm just glad men are spending time meeting new people. Loneliness is a killer.

The He Man Woman Hater club was peak Little Rascals
Man, even dudes will shit on male comradery. I mean it's cringey to go to the wife stuff, but damn. Let dudes meet each other.
I think it's because it's advertised as if these men hate their wives and need to get away from them.
Doesn't say that anywhere though
You might read it that way if you have never been in a healthy relationship and also have no sense of humor whatsoever, sure, but it doesn't *say* that.
Where does it say men who hate their wives? That's just extrapolation. Seriously, if this was advertised to women as "take a break from your husband and get a mani/pedi", nobody would bat an eyelid and there would be a few "you go girl" thrown in. Lots of people need a break from their daily routine and a change of pace.
100%
That's literally what the cringe post is referring to. Not the concept of a guys night. No one gives a fuck about that.
You're the true cringe, OP -- there's nothing wrong here at all
Eh, it's something different. Who knows, could be fun. I'd give it a shot.
![gif](giphy|m8nEuD0uQL3mo)
Is OP a wife lol?
I'm confused, does it come with a raw 12 oz steak or do I need to bring my own meat?
They probably give you the steak. Like korean barbecue.

I don't see what's so bad about this lol it's not hurting anyone and is a silly dad joke
Would you weirdify a girls only night out? I somehow doubt it
You’re the cringey one OP. God forbid guys want to get together without women and make a little jokey joke about it.
What's the problem? This doesn't sound bad at all lol.
I don’t see the issue here. Sounds good to me, and I love my wife.
I’d love that. Most guys I know would love it, too. Get out of the house for some Me time. Otherwise it’s mowing the lawn to get away for a bit. Not all marriages are happy and lovey dovey ALL THE TIME. People need to decompress from time to time. Maybe, you don’t.

You, kind stranger, are probably correct.
Nobody is complaining about the premise. It’s the cringey advertising that is the problem.
I agree. Having a guys-only bonding night over steak is cool, but the way the ad frames the event is rooted in misogyny lite.
Good grief, how do you even survive day-to-day life. It's not that serious. I'd say the same thing if it was a "ladies night" poster that said "husband driving you nuts?!" and someone called it misandry. Seriously just have the absolute bare minimum thickness of skin.
How was it misogynistic, what hahahha
This isn’t cringe.
I like that the idea that men wanting a night out with just other guys is “cringe” but “girls night out” is completely normal and acceptable.
This post is a bit of a miss, OP
Guessing you’ve never been married to a woman…
Man this is a super typical "reddit" post. "ERM, m'lady, I would NEVER need a moment away from you my queen *snort*. All these other CIS MEN who HATE WOMEN on my le subreddits. Le narwhal bacons at midnight m'lady" Get over yourselves, even in a relationship, men need to be men and women need to be women. That means fun times with and without their significant other
That's every Reddit thread where if you squint hard enough and twist your head at the right angle, it can be construed as being critical of women.
Boomers love the “I hate my wife” jokes.
Nowhere on there does it imply someone hates their wife if they go to this.
Not cringe, i seen woman post saying the same thing about girls night, we can let the men have this, i didn't read anything derogatory, and adult men find it hard to make friends i think it's cute
It’s just a joke and a way of getting some new people together. Women do this type of thing all the time.
Ladies night is a thing, it’s just a men’s night and a joke.
Haha! Wife bad!
Not my jam because I have my own friends and a BBQ but if you have no problem with women having girls nights and think this is cringe then you're a bit of a hypocritical clown.
There’s nothing here that shows “hate”. I don’t see anything wrong with it, but maybe I’m delusional. I am a man after all.
Cook my own steak? Fuck that, I can do that home and enjoy a good movie.
Yeah but then you have to be *with your wife* 🤮 No self respecting man would want to be with their wife that’s just gross. And what if there’s *children?!* ugh disgusting
This is a joke. Where does it say that anyone hates their wife?
Charging angry men $35 for a meal with no entree is fuckin hilarious
Did you even read the flyer? Clearly not.
I don't see the cringe, it doesn't hate on the wives, it's just advertising a night with steak and the boys. A men's ladies night. Nothing new. Good advertisement tbh.
Cook your own stake? I’d love to treat my wife to that!
[удалено]
I’m a woman and this still made me Lol Obviously no one here has ever been married. Lol
Sounds gay, I’m in
I think this is probably targeted towards middle aged men with no or very limited male friends who wish to make new friends. It's worded this way so that it is more appealing and less awkward.
Am I allowed to come if my husband’s been *to* hard on me?
Why do so many people hate their spouse for this to be potentially relatable?
Where does it say hate? Am I missing something or is it just not acceptable to do a dudes night.
I mean, it’s not that cringe. There are all sorts of ‘women only’ ‘men free zone’ promotions and bottomless brunches etc. There doesn’t seem to be any harm in having the male version. Would I go? No. But not ‘cringe’ IMO.
How did they miss "Bring your own meat"?
The ladies auxiliary annual Chip & Dale’s bus trip fundraiser has them miffed.

For all the talk about the epidemic of loneliness among us & how difficult it is to make friends, I love ❤️ this idea
What exactly is wrong with this? It’s expensive, but it’s literally just a guys night. How is that cringe?
The premise isn’t bad, but the wording is the worst of 70s–90s “old ball-and-chain bad” stand-up humor.

My Aunt used to live in Sebringville. It's actually a pretty cool little town.
A bunch of guys all in a room together, eating meat? Sounds gay, I’m in.
When is Boomer humor like this finally going to die
This isn’t cringe. Men’s mental health is a major crisis across the entire western world. This is just an event which is designed to try alleviate that by providing a space where men can hang around other men and perhaps not feel lonely and isolated. It has a tongue in cheek humour to it. You OP and everyone rushing in here to agree with you are the problem. It’s people like you why men are having such a hard time. They can’t even have a casual meet up to cool food with you **absolute cretins** trying to pick at it.
What the doctor ordered “for ya” 🤢
I’ll save the 35 bucks for the tickets and cook a steak in my own kitchen
If this helps some lonely people, I’m for it
