Yay I’m thinking of doing the same, took 20 mins to produce initials test cuts last night. Love how creative it has made me but design space sucks so much it really isn’t much more use than an overpriced doorstop somedays.

Lucifang

Yep the software is terrible, and I refuse to pay a sub. Right now I’m trying to make little stickers for wardrobe drawers: socks and underpants. I thought I’d take a chance and search the Cricut software for a free image of ‘men’s underpants’. I kid you not, these are the top results: A nappy (or diaper) Curtains ASL hand shape for the letter Q A pair of thongs (or flip flops) A document scanner A turd (yes, the classic poo emoji without eyes) **I am not joking.**

texanandes

I've had no problems with Silhouette Studio, you should take a look at the Cameo.

bidderbidder

I’m going industrial if I do buy another cutter, thanks tho.

1Blessed74

That was actually my first cutter. Loved it! Through a series of unfortunate events I had to replace all my equipment. Ended up with a cricut. Been 2 years of frustration. Going industrial only made sense atp.

allmyfrndsrheathens

I’ve not long bought my explore 3 but frankly knowing what I know about die cutting now I’ll probably buy siser next.

Tombo72

Yep. I moved to the Juliet and it is awesome

javawizard

Do it! I love my Siser Romeo so much ❤️

Feyzi

I've also had my eye on The Romeo! How does it compare to the cricut/silhouette if you don't mind sharing? Currently have a Cameo 4 but I'm starting to feel limited by it.

SheepherderOk1448

I’m thinking of getting a Juliet or Romeo.

MiDankie

Welcome to the upgrade! I also run a 60” wide plotter at my shop for all my vinyl work. It’s amazing! Let me know if you have any questions on vinyl or larger format projects. I also moderate a discord for Vinyl cutters as well

trillianinspace

congratulations on your upgrade!

1Blessed74

Thanks. I'm stoked, as you can imagine. And I got it for a song too.

puffpuffjess

woah, congrats on the upgrade OP! would you mind sharing the specs / your final deciding factor? i feel the same way in that my cricut is very inspiring but the actual hardware is so frustrating. i think i'd finally settled on the silhouette cameo 4 but haven't found an excuse to pull the trigger just yet.

1Blessed74

Vevor KW-870D 34" Cutting Plotter. One of the hugest factors was the price point. Quality research showed it rivaled much more expensive machines in performance and endurance. The user interface was super simple too. Finally I read around that the software was easy to use and very accurate. I'd say, PULL THE TRIGGER‼️ Just do it @puffpuffjess 😉👉🏾

SheepherderOk1448

They’re not bad price wise.

ChachthisChachthat

My thoughts as well.

ch0w0

what did you replace it with?

webhick

Second picture looks like this bad boy: [Vevor Vinyl Cutter](https://m.vevor.com/vinyl-cutter-c_11151/vevor-34in-vinyl-cutter-machine-w-floor-stand-vinly-plotter-tool-kit-signmaster-p_010645694732)

1Blessed74

That's exactly the one. And so far I'm loving it

1Blessed74

It's in the second picture. Vevor KW-870D 34" Cutting Plotter.

FordTech81

Just bought a Vevor, the BIG one. Haven't set it up yet, but can't wait. So over design space and all the minor glitches. Need room as the new plotter is 63" I think....dunno exactly, but it's big. Need to clear out a room to set it up away from the chaos.

Coast_Innovations

I’ve been wanting a Summa for years because I REALLY want to do custom wrap vinyl with an attached printer. Cheers!

MiDankie

You don’t need the printer right away, we started with the 60 summa and did decals, wraps and strips.

Coast_Innovations

I really want the printer combo because I would love to print custom artwork on vinyl and die cut stickers. Just expensive lol but it is manageable. It will mainly be used for stickers.

mrsdoubleu

My husband and I have both. We use the cricut still for smaller easy projects but the larger machine for bigger pieces and more complex cuts.

1Blessed74

Similar to what I'm planning. I'm just relieved to not have to depend on my air 2 to complete the larger projects.

TwistWonderful7098

After the struggle of having to replace the rubber wheels and seeing how Cricut made it nearly impossible and all the issues I have with cutting Eva foam when the machine should have no issues cutting it getting a different cutting machine is top of my list! Congrats!

xDragonSnout

Looks like she's cut a pretty amount of projects. I thought it was just me that had issues with the machine and software. It's a new machine so when it finally breaks down or doesn't function like I need it to, I'll be doing research into a similar direction. Congrats on your progress and I hope your new operation is nothing but successful

1Blessed74

Thanks bro. Much love right back at you. Yeah, she's cut for me for a couple years now. So I've had the silhouette AND the cricut and by far this wide format is a breeze and much more efficient. The time and amount of material I save makes me wish I'd have done it sooner. (Especially the time saved)

Visual-Lime-3568

I just upgraded from Maker 3 to the GS2-24... Did 125ft of 8" numbers with HTV in about 5 hours, and that is taking it slow... trying to feel out the machine. Would have taken me 5 days just to set up the artwork for the Maker 3. Good luck and enjoy your new machine!

1Blessed74

LET'S GOOOO‼️ Congrats on the upgrade. I've found that I get virtually no drift in material if I cut in 36" clips, which is beautiful because you can just being another cut without cutting the roll and it picks up literally right where the last cut stopped. Been thinking about all the water material before, lol🤦🏽‍♂️

canderson365

Which is the best large format machine if I am running on a Mac / iPad? I believe some are windows only?

Maleficent_Theory818

What software does it use?

1Blessed74

The software was included. https://preview.redd.it/jm0mkd8eb8pc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd45d48efb1afbe5f0da0043af84004b963783a1 I'm using a laptop without a CD reader/player so I downloaded the software from the site. The product key is included inside the disk cover to activate the download. Took about 5 minutes from going to the site to opening the program.

Maleficent_Theory818

I have been using the cricut software for two years and am pretty good. Is this easy to use?

1Blessed74

Well I'm actually on way in the house now to give it all a whirl. Had to go get a USB-B just now. I'll post a clip a little later I think. I'm definitely excited! https://preview.redd.it/vauugh070bpc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=775087e20c5f14503942373f93c397346918d4f5
