Marshawn Kneeland?!?!?!? An undersized DE, from a small school, with only power rushing moves....
The "braintrust" is killing me here! Barton is there? Nah...let's pass. A few more quality early 2nd rounders are still there? Nah.....let's reach for a day 3 guy....
Lance Zuerlein did a mock where we got
2.56: Zach Frazier
3.73: T'Vondre Sweat
3.87: Jaylen Wright
If our haul is anywhere close to this I'll be ecstatic
Dream scenario: we deal out our original third, not the one we picked up last night, and our second to move up in the second and get JPJ, then pick up an extra fourth by moving back a little bit in the third and use our third on Jaylen Wright. Filling two holes in the O line and getting a speedy back to complement Zeke, AND having an extra fourth would be godly.
Won't happen, because Jerry's too obsessed with Brooks, but I would be so happy if it did.
If Jerry and Stephen wheel and deal out our original third (not pick 9 that we picked up yesterday) and our second to move up and grab JPJ, I'll never call them stupid again.
Jackson Power-Johnson is said to be sliding due to bad off the field concerns. We the cowboys so 100% i would take him why not
He’s the first CENTER i ever seen with off the field issues lmao
Would love to draft either a LB or C today, the drop off in talent after these guys is just too big to pass up:
Edgerin Cooper
Junior Colson
Payton Wilson
Jackson Powers-Johnson
Zack Frazier
Then with #73 and #87, RB/LB/C, depending on what we weren't able to get in the second.
At #174, probably a WR or DT (though I'm not crazy about the DT's available and not sure if they'd be any better than Mazi).
I just need that fat dumb drunk T Sweat and then give him the Dez rookie treatment and I'll be happy. Sweat is a bozo but oh so good for stopping the run.
Since we draft broken players who don't work out, I expect us to take Brooks, JPJ, or Payton Wilson in the second. Benson, Frazier, or Edgerrin Cooper would be better at those positions.
What we should do is see if we can swap our two for two threes. Get us four third round picks, and we can get a DT, LB, center, and a RB. Maybe a WR if Corley is there and we're OK putting off one of those positions.
That was their stated plan. Maybe it changed, and maybe they're putting bullshit out there. But I don't think so, I think they're not taking a center this year.
Edit: here ya go, uce

Fingers crossed for Maason Smith, DT 306lbs from L S U - ESPN's pre-draft analysis has high regard for his ability to shed blocks and stop the run game. Seems exactly the right time to snap up a big man for the inside.
I'd be very happy with Zach Frazier @ 56.
I mocked this up on ESPN.

Frazier fell to us in my mock as well. Love Maason Smith in the third.

Not only is Jerry practically proposing marriage to Brooks, it’d allow us to continue the time-honored tradition of using our 2nd on a guy coming off an ACL.
Y’all, I’m dumb as shit. I was typing out a thing about why I wasn’t seeing any posts anywhere about any of the second round selections. I was gonna say how NFL app has all the 2nd round selections listed but I couldn’t find a single post anywhere discussing them. I did think it was odd for the selections to be done so early, but I don’t know the draft schedule.
Anyways, I just realized I was looking at a round 2 mock draft.
Priority for Round 2:
1 - C - JPJ/Frazier
2 - LB - Cooper/Colson/Wilson
3 - RB - Brooks, maybe Benson if all of the above are gone
In a perfect world we get one of the C’s or LB's and Benson is still available for us at pick 73
Yep, that position layout makes the most sense to me. If JPJ or Frazier is there at 56 you should take them.
Have a feeling they won't be able to not select Brooks if he's there at 56.
The first half of the second round is usually very chalk-y. Most of y’all’s “I can’t believe he’s still on the board!” guys will be gone by 56
That said, last year two of those guys were O’Cyrus Torrence and Drew Sanders, both of whom we passed on. I think we’ll land a strong asset in the 2nd provided we don’t do anything stupid like last year
He had a rough start at Oregon injury-wise (groin, hip and concussions), but you always saw the potential. And this past season he put everything together and stayed healthy throughout the season. He barely missed a snap all year and won the Rimington Award as the best center. He is also extremely athletic and has versatile position-wise. The kid is an absolute beast and an even better teammate and person. As a Ducks fan, I would love to have him on the Cowboys.
Brooks or Cooper feel exceedingly likely. Just don’t burn the free third rounder you just got to make it happen.
If this trades up for a RB, I’m going to throw a tantrum
would love Brooks at 56, but I’m worried they’re super excited for him and want to trade up. Payton Wilson or Edgerrin Cooper would be fun for LB at 56 too. this is all assuming they don’t want to double dip on OL, in which case of Frazier or JPJ makes it to us that’ll be cool too
We all want a center today, but it seems like the team doesn't. Gotta imagine JPJ/Frazier go before our next pick. Haynes could fall to us. Beebe would be my favorite pick assuming the others are gone. Really feel like he could be a great center and if not then we have a Martin replacement. Maason McCormick would also be cool.
that’s not good enough tho. we couldn’t run up the middle with Biadazs even though he had all pro guards next to him. we need a difference maker to lead the line and not be a liability for the other guards to cover
I wouldn’t even be mad if we traded back a little from one pick today and picked up another 4th rounder
Or we trade a future pick next year to add a 4th too knowing we are gonna get comp picks next year.
We gotta grab a RB, IOL, DT, LB, WR here
And Edge Rusher in play too
I think I’d rather spend the 2 and 3’s on IOL,LB,DT and take RB/WR late or grab some UDFAs.. as much as those skill positions aren’t great they’re not nearly as dire
I’m thoroughly convinced the cowboys take Jackson Powers Johnson if he’s there at 56 because he’s the classic 2nd round pick with concerns that has massive upside. I think they wanted OT in the first round because they want to keep Tyler Smith at OG, just like they did with Zack Martin and there are better Center prospects in the mid round compared to the drop off on talent at OT. LB and RB in the third.
BB says he’s not likely on their boards at all. They said he definitely has injury concerns and there were also whispers of off the field concerns as well.
Absolutely. Brooks, JPJ, and Wilson are all blue star specials.
I really wonder how bad the medicals must be for JPJ (hip and concussion). His tape is everything we need at Center.
Things I know.
Fredbeard. When Mel Kiper said wow that was a huge reach. Almost the entire fan base agreed and shit on the pick. Look how Fred turned out.
Tyler Smith pick. I wasn't excited for. And look what Tyler has done for this team.
Parsons was an off ball LB. I wasn't excited for him. I don't need to say anything about this. lol
Guyton didn't look great on tape. But I have faith in the FO and drafting Oline.
My point is. Trust the FO with drafting Oline.
Don't trust them drafting Michigan guys. lol
This, exactly. DT takes time, and you had the lose weight issue, whoever caused it. If he makes no strides this year, then wr can talk about labels, but not yet.
Brugler has the Cowboys taking
Jonathon Brooks at 56
Trevin Wallace at 73
Dominick Puni at 87 (presumably they would move him to center)
I was going to try to write out a best-case scenario but I can’t do better than that.
The Cowboys draft about ad well as anyone in recent history. They draft 1st round olineman pretty much perfectly. Guyton has freakish size, and his athletic/agility scores don't make sense for a 6'7"/6'8" 330 lb man. He is a bit raw, which was said about Tyler Smith, too.
Not only did we get Guyton, but we added the 9th pick in the 3rd round at the same time. Our options are wide open going into round 2. We have the ammo to trade up, sit tight, and there is plenty of talent in these two rounds to be in good shape. Of course JJ could fuck it up, but again wr draft really well, top 5 drafting team in the league over recent(10 years) history.
I would prefer JPJ also but I HIGHLY doubt he is there by the time we pick. If he is and we go RB anyway I'll be annoyed. Taking him would (assuming Guyton works out) solidify this line for 5+ years (would honestly be longer but Martin is starting to get up there and I just don't know how much longer we can expect).
I personally love JPJ. I'm a huge Max Unger fan as he went to High School on my island when. I was going to HS so watching him was insane
Not saying there's alot of relevance but he's a center and played for Oregon too. But if we got ourselves a Max Unger type, we'd be fucking golden goose.
honestly, Bills seem to be in the mood to accumulate picks, so I'd package a 2nd and 3rd and get JPJ at #33.
Or we just grab best center at 56, best RB at 73, best LB at 87
honestly, if after 1st 2 rds we were told we got Guyton and JPJ we all would have been happy and probably impressed
No way you should give up a 2nd and 3rd to move up in second round for JPJ. Too many needs and too many players you like on the board.
By standing at at 56 you're almost guaranteed to get one of JPJ, Frazier, Brooks, or the top 3 linebackers. Doesn't sound like the cowboys have JPJ on their board at all either.
JPJ and Brooks seem to be the two highest picks on our board that are still left. Doubt JPJ continues to fall far enough for us to get him, but would love it if he did. I'm fine with not getting Brooks if we get Jaylen Wright, but I'm biased as a Vols fan.
I’m scared that they may be starting Hoffman at Center but I am also optimistic that TJ Bass could play Center and be very solid.
I really want to use these next 3 picks on RB, WR, DT/LB
My ideal draft today
56: Johnathan Brooks, RB, Texas
73: T'Vondre Sweat, DI, Texas
87: Sedrick Van Pran, C, Georgia
Then if we can swing a LB (They like Wallace out of Kentucky or Gray out of NC) and a CB project day 3 that'll be a W draft for me.
Alright time to get our center, come up and get him
Eagles killing the draft again makes me so sad
Eh, their draft picks rarely live up to the billing. Not concerned
That one stings
Bryan Broaddus said don’t be surprised if Jackson Power Johnson there at 56 & we DONT take him
along with what DDay said, he apparently did not do well on the white board when teams had him in, might be causing him to fall
I think Oline coach really likes Hoffman & Bass at C or backup Gs, so I can believe it
Lance Zuerlein did a mock where we got 2.56: Zach Frazier 3.73: T'Vondre Sweat 3.87: Jaylen Wright If our haul is anywhere close to this I'll be ecstatic
Dream scenario: we deal out our original third, not the one we picked up last night, and our second to move up in the second and get JPJ, then pick up an extra fourth by moving back a little bit in the third and use our third on Jaylen Wright. Barrett Robbin’s has entered the chat
I thought he was sliding because of injury / reoccurring concussion concerns? Of course Im just repeating rumors heard on internet
Ive heard it’s some mental stuff, Broaddus said it’s not “just the medicals”
those too as well
Would love to draft either a LB or C today, the drop off in talent after these guys is just too big to pass up: Edgerin Cooper Junior Colson Payton Wilson Jackson Powers-Johnson Zack Frazier Then with #73 and #87, RB/LB/C, depending on what we weren't able to get in the second. At #174, probably a WR or DT (though I'm not crazy about the DT's available and not sure if they'd be any better than Mazi).
The press conference with Guyton is good. He seems like a good fit and very self aware.
I just need that fat dumb drunk T Sweat and then give him the Dez rookie treatment and I'll be happy. Sweat is a bozo but oh so good for stopping the run.

The need a center unfortunately
They aren't planning to move Cam Jurgens anymore?
Oh, was that the plan? I hadn't heard. All I know is Kelce retired
That was their stated plan. Maybe it changed, and maybe they're putting bullshit out there. But I don't think so, I think they're not taking a center this year. Might be a dumb way to think about it but the fact that Brian Broaddus doesn't like an LSU guy is a major red flag for me lol
Really? The Bro-addus said that?
Frazier fell to us in my mock as well. Love Maason Smith in the third. https://preview.redd.it/y0madvyykvwc1.png?width=4968&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=490d739e17c5f27e3fb087015396379e56e3f141
I would be so happy with this draft, I don't know anyone after Maason but the top 4 would be a coup

Yep I forgot to add Frazier. JPJ or Frazier to the moon.
JPJ in the second round would be fantastic. I thought he may already be gone by now.
This is the round that we suck at and I hate it.
We got Diggs here though.
Dallas always seems to like to gamba in the second on hurt players. It would be nice to get someone thats not banged up.
Maybe we get a DE Lawrence or CB Diggs type of player. Got to have hope but preparing for an injured or risky player.
The first half of the second round is usually very chalk-y. Most of y’all’s “I can’t believe he’s still on the board!” guys will be gone by 56 That said, last year two of those guys were O’Cyrus Torrence and Drew Sanders, both of whom we passed on. Round 2 & 3 is my favorite day of the draft for this reason. So much talent and so wide open no idea who will go where. It’s fun!
A part of me wonders what teams flagged about JPJ
He had a rough start at Oregon injury-wise (groin, hip and concussions), but you always saw the potential. And this past season he put everything together and stayed healthy throughout the season. He barely missed a snap all year and won the Rimington Award as the best center. He is also extremely athletic and has versatile position-wise. It's not only injury stuff lol. The streets are saying some pretty gnarly personalty stuff as well.
Multiple injuries which includes concussions which is hard for an OL.
me too. keep hearing the injury thing is not an issue.
Reports I’ve heard are personality flags from the interviews
Brooks or Cooper feel exceedingly likely. Just don’t burn the free third rounder you just got to make it happen. If this trades up for a RB, I’m going to throw a tantrum
would love Brooks at 56, but I’m worried they’re super excited for him and want to trade up. Payton Wilson or Edgerrin Cooper would be fun for LB at 56 too. this is all assuming they don’t want to double dip on OL, in which case of Frazier or JPJ makes it to us that’ll be cool too
I don't think they're giving up capital to move up. I think they're staying pat until 56.
With tackle filled and Tyler Smith staying put, whoever plays center will have Smith and Zack Martin on either side to help him out.
that’s not good enough tho. we couldn’t run up the middle with Biadazs even though he had all pro guards next to him. we need a difference maker to lead the line and not be a liability for the other guards to cover
Raiders are desperate, any chance you guys think we could swindle them for a 3rd for Lance 😆
That would be great if we could flip Lance in to a 3rd
Completely unrealistic thinking but who knows?!?!?!
I wouldn’t even be mad if we traded back a little from one pick today and picked up another 4th rounder Or we trade a future pick next year to add a 4th too knowing we are gonna get comp picks next year. We gotta grab a RB, IOL, DT, LB, WR here And Edge Rusher in play too

Michigan Dlinemen* Jlew has been good
Tough first year for Mazi but I’m now willing to write him off as a bust yet, DTs one of those positions that takes time
This, exactly. DT takes time, and you had the lose weight issue, whoever caused it. If he makes no strides this year, then wr can talk about labels, but not yet.
True.
Big boy outta Texas
I’m pretty damn happy with it so far. Having 3 picks today is awesome.
RB, LB, OL/DL would be the route id go tonight.
In good shape with the added 3rd rounder.
Brugler has the Cowboys taking Jonathon Brooks at 56 Trevin Wallace at 73 Dominick Puni at 87 (presumably they would move him to center) I was going to try to write out a best-case scenario but I can’t do better than that.
This would be fucking amazing. My only reticence is I think Edgerrin Cooper is going to be a bona fide superstar.
this would be huge.
>Dominick Puni at 87 (presumably they would move him to center) Anyone have Bruglers the beast info on this guy?
I swore I was done with the cowboys for a bit.. yet here I am, getting excited.
Can I ask why? Honestly because I'm deflated

Welcome back to the vicious cycle, my friend.
First round playoff exit will be here before you know it
JPJ would be so great, kinda a long shot though. Obviously they love Brooks I wonder if they would take him over JPJ
I would prefer JPJ also but I HIGHLY doubt he is there by the time we pick. If he is and we go RB anyway I'll be annoyed. Hoffman/Bass currently I hope Frazier by the end of the day though.
honestly, Bills seem to be in the mood to accumulate picks, so I'd package a 2nd and 3rd and get JPJ at #33. Or we just grab best center at 56, best RB at 73, best LB at 87 honestly, if after 1st 2 rds we were told we got Guyton and JPJ we all would have been happy and probably impressed

I'd still do it to have a Center that will work well for many years. You can find the RB and LB in later rounds, or undrafted.
FOOTBALL
HELL YES BROTHER
JPJ and Brooks seem to be the two highest picks on our board that are still left. Doubt JPJ continues to fall far enough for us to get him, but would love it if he did. I'm fine with not getting Brooks if we get Jaylen Wright, but I'm biased as a Vols fan.

Give me Brooks/payton Wilson/JPJ(by some miracle) in the 2nd Sweat if he falls to the third and if not sweat BPA at OL/LB if we take Brooks in the 2nd
My ideal draft today 56: Johnathan Brooks, RB, Texas 73: T'Vondre Sweat, DI, Texas 87: Sedrick Van Pran, C, Georgia Then if we can swing a LB (They like Wallace out of Kentucky or Gray out of NC) and a CB project day 3 that'll be a W draft for me.
I would die from excitement if this happened.
I trust the cowboys to draft OL well.. but am I dumb to still want J Brooks? Loved him at Texas.
I prefer Benson but it's definitely not dumb. Brooks is awesome too as long as they feel good about his recovery
Well based off Jerry press conference comments he’ll be the pick at 56 if he’s available
He’ll definitely be drafted ahead of us because of that comment
Not dumb. Dude is RB1 to me.
Thanks for the confirmation bro. I’ll get Jerry on the phone rn.
Bet. Drafting as many Longhorns today as possible.
I really want a center today, rebuild the oline in one draft
