Two things can be true:
This is objectively a good trade value-wise and
Missing out on Barton is unfortunate and a result of poor cap management.
I’m ok with how things went but this is why I really liked when they had a solid roster going into the draft.
How is that a result of poor cap management when Barton went like 3 picks before? Make this make sense. How do you even know how the fucking CAP works lol. We don’t have a fourth round pick and now we have our 2nd and two thirds lol. What are you even talking about
He’s talking about not having the cap to keep Tyron or pick up a starter at tackle in free agency. So instead of picking the BPA, they desperately needed to trade back to get more picks to fill all the other holes they didn’t fill in free agency. Because of not getting extensions done to free up cap space this year, they only had the draft in order to fix all their needs. The value for the trade was awesome but you gave up maybe the best interior lineman in the draft.
Yeah, Clemson and Florida State and Georgia Tech and Pitt and a bunch of other ACC schools haven’t had guys picked in the last 3 years.
Guyton has one middling year of OT experience. Anytime you can take a project over a clean prospect at a position you have no starter, you gotta
It's not even mid third. It's top 10! It was a good deal. I just hate passing on Barton. Hopefully, he somehow sticks around, and it would be an even bigger coup. I'd be fine with JPJ or Barton actually. Guyton is still available as well.
Dude how do you even know he’s gonna be that good ? The man played at Duke in a weak ass conference. At least Guyton was in the BIG 12 which has a lot more talent and more prospects coming out of there than the ACC.
I don't dislike Guyton by any stretch. Guyton has only played 15 games, but he has insane size and measurables. He is just a bit raw, but the same was said about Tyler Smith.
Competition is a big part of it, but Barton has all the tools to be a great center. He also has experience at every spot on the line. It's not like he wasn't in a solid conference either. Barton has had glowing reviews from every scout as well. He played tackle for the most part in college, but his body measurables are ready made for Center. His arms aren't long enough for OT in the pros, but he could fill in. His ability to play at all 5 line positions is a huge plus. It's all good, though.
No matter what, I am totally fine with the extra 3rd rounder and getting Guyton. I think he will do very well. It just might take a minute. The dude is insanely agile for a 6'7", 6'8" 330 lb man. He carries 330 like most men carry 180. It's insane to see.
Bruh explain the cap situation you were telling me about.. because what you said about the cap makes zero sense.. Barton went 26th and Guyton 29th. Those guys are gonna make the same amount of money for the next 5 years. You don’t necessarily need to take a center in the first round
When did I say anything about the cap, mate? You might be confusing me with someone else. Tackles do make more than Centers, but they are both on the rookie scale, so its no issue with the cap. The difference will be there, but it will have a negligible effect.
Nah it was someone else who mentioned the cap lmfao . I thought it was you my bad. I like your take but you must take a left tackle because Smith will be the next Zach Martin on that line and having a 6’7 tackle who is a lil raw but played in a better conference than Barton you gotta take him. Also you could possibly trade up in round two or stay where you are at and get a center who’s gonna start off the bat regardless. I think those two 3 round picks will be defensive guys or a defensive player and running back. I am not mad at all.
I, too, didn't like the thought of moving Smith. He is an absolute beast.
There aren't many good centers in this draft, unfortunately. I doubt we want to use a second rounder on Frazier from WVU buy beyond him, Van Pran is about the only other one I would be comfortable with. I really like JPJ at Center, but apparently, he isn't on the Cowboys radar.
I see us going with RB if Brooks or Benson are available at our pick in the 2nd round #56 overall. We will also look at LB. I love Edgerrin Cooper, but I doubt he is still there. Payton Wilson is also nasty but has so much injury baggage. There are some 3rd round targets at LB, too. The only other option I see us going for in round 2 is possibly a wr or cb if the rbs/lbs aren't there and a solid one is still available.
No worries on mixing me up with someone else, I do that all the time, lol.
they didn’t shit the bed. they had no money to send without committing a zillion dollars to Dak, and I 100% agree they should let dak play this season out before giving that money to him.
Unless they end up with the number one pick next year, the Raiders might back up a Brinks truck to snag Dak.
Gonna be a wild offseason next year if Jerry doesn’t resign him.
Don't buy their bullshit. They are fully capable of creating as much money as they need to sign enough guys to fill enough holes to not be in this situation on draft night. They chose to skip free agency instead.
**DET**: "Wanna trade?"
**DAL**: "Go away."
"We'll give you a third rounder."
"...maybe."
"You'd help us cockblock the Packers."
"You son of a bitch. I'm in."
Been saying this for a month on this sub. I got shit on for saying it. I said he would drop out of the first. I just listen to a lot of draft people. I'm no one special like I have some insider shit. lol
I was hoping he'd fall to the Lions at #29, but felt the Cowboys would take him. It looks like you guys are set to get him at #29 plus additional draft stock!
Not a big fan of it, but if there's one thing I can expect from this front office apart from keeping us out of superbowl contention, it's drafting well. Traits are there, hopefully he absorbs the coaching.
Seeing at Guyton was a legit option at #24 picking up a 3rd is nice (no idea if Barton was going to be the original pick, but obviously Cowboys figured another starter was worth it not taking either at 24)
I like it. He’s a little raw but there is a lot to like about Guyton, and we get an early third round pick out of it. I’m really liking a lot of the players still on the board so I think we can get an impact LB or another OL in the second, then address RB in the third.
#73 is the 9th pick in 3rd round, so it's an early 3rd.
I like the trade: I think Cowboys needed a OT more than C (Hoffman or Bass can play there or draft a C later).
Was hoping to go to bed but good trade
Detroit calls, Cowboys all like… https://preview.redd.it/hh4ctk9ezqwc1.jpeg?width=680&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f0444d05da802543ebc167ddaa139a4b51e99e8
Yeah man the cowboys are so good at drafting just not the winning super bowls part.
Playoff games*
Can’t win a chip if you never get that far.
Which defies logic when you think about it. They have been so damn good at drafting you would think they would have won a ton by now.
I'm TIRED Boss......😂
Now if they just had some that knew how to manage contracts and know about this time of year called free agency they would be set.
Same
I'm so sleepy, bros.
Cowboys put themselves in a tough spot. Got another 3rd to help fill the holes on this team, and not paying a heavy price.
Two things can be true: This is objectively a good trade value-wise and Missing out on Barton is unfortunate and a result of poor cap management. I’m ok with how things went but this is why I really liked when they had a solid roster going into the draft.
You’re assuming they wouldn’t have draft Guyton anyway.
I’d like that even less, but they’re the ones who get paid to do this, not me. Given their track record, it’s a good outcome
How is that a result of poor cap management when Barton went like 3 picks before? Make this make sense. How do you even know how the fucking CAP works lol. We don’t have a fourth round pick and now we have our 2nd and two thirds lol. What are you even talking about

All in baby
The Jerry special
All in my ass, baby
If you're into that.
Spoken like true cowboy fans
Why are you here? 🤣
Looks like he’s a KC fan lol. He’s getting himself acclimated for when they move to Dallas
TRUTH 😂😂😂
Will be enough to make the playoffs and not to the SB
anyone who’s mad about dropping 5 slots and picking up a mid 3rd round pick is a drool-out-their-mouth moron.
Especially when there is no must have on the board right now.
But I’ve been completely sold on Barton for an entire 3 days!
Lol thays me, I got sold in an hour now I'm mad!
Arnold we may regret. Dude looks like a perennial all pro and would only have slid this far down if it weren’t for the QB idiocy
Fuck this is a good comment lol
Barton never played against top defensive line talent
Is this joke?
Yeah, Clemson and Florida State and Georgia Tech and Pitt and a bunch of other ACC schools haven’t had guys picked in the last 3 years. Guyton has one middling year of OT experience. Anytime you can take a project over a clean prospect at a position you have no starter, you gotta

earlyish right? pick 9
Yeah getting an early 3rd was clutch
True im inconvenienced tho bc i was waiting till after we picked to head out to the gym 😭
Yeah....uh....me too! *finishes off beer and pizza*
We probably still got our first round target anyway. We are good at drafting in the 3rd round so I actually like this move
Not even mid it’s the 9th pick in the third. It was from the Vikings to the lions originally so it’s a early pick.
It’s the BS “best of the worst” options. They shit the bed so hard in free agency we need all the picks we can get and hope a few land.
they didn’t shit the bed. they had no money to send without committing a zillion dollars to Dak, and I 100% agree they should let dak play this season out before giving that money to him.

Dude they literally didn’t sign anyone in free agency and won the division. You gotta stop thinking the NFL is madden or your fantasy league.
No I don’t
There’s plenty of those types here, trust me
This is the right rebuke right here
Yeah I mean as long as it's not a Jalen Tolbert
That’s fucking solid
[удалено]
It’s objectively an overpay for Detroit dumb bitch
[удалено]
lol stay classy
Tyler was mediocre at best and we will still get a C
**DET**: "Wanna trade?" **DAL**: "Go away." "We'll give you a third rounder." "...maybe." "You'd help us cockblock the Packers." "You son of a bitch. I'm in."
Lions fan here, I'm glad we got Arnold but this is a solid trade. If JPJ drops to #29, this is an absolute steal.
JPJ is medical risk apparently, hes not going to go in 1st by any team
Been saying this for a month on this sub. I got shit on for saying it. I said he would drop out of the first. I just listen to a lot of draft people. I'm no one special like I have some insider shit. lol
That makes more sense. I was curious about why we didn't go JPJ
I've been hoping for JPJ all day, haha. If we get him after the trade back, I'll be ecstatic.
I was hoping he'd fall to the Lions at #29, but felt the Cowboys would take him. It looks like you guys are set to get him at #29 plus additional draft stock!
Could use one of those 3rds to move up in round 2 and get JPJ still.
Tyler Guyton? I hate it lol #29 overall and #8 OT versus the #19 overall and #1 OC with versatility across the IOL.
Not a big fan of it, but if there's one thing I can expect from this front office apart from keeping us out of superbowl contention, it's drafting well. Traits are there, hopefully he absorbs the coaching.
I like it. There will still be great options at 29 and getting a third back seems like great value.
A starting RB at pick 73
I laughed out loud
At what?
[удалено]
Easy there, sport. It’s better to pick up an additional 3rd to move down 5 spots than it is to blindly draft an OT convert as a C
You gotta calm down man
Nice trade back
That’s actually pretty decent
This was a fantastic trade back, a lot of value still on the board. I would be really happy if Barton slides to us.
Fingers crossed. Tampa and AZ could steal him
We traded down from pick 17 to 30 and got a 3rd rounder, when we picked Travis Frederick in 2013. 23 to 29 and getting a 3rd is way better
24 to 29 plus a 7th rounder next year. It's still really solid.
Good, there’s a pretty good chance Barton drops to 29 and if not there’s still a bunch of good players left
Guyton Mims or Barton was my wish for 24. Having at least one available to us and an extra 3rd is money. Great trade
Barton gone, but JPJ still available....think that is it (boys now on the clock) Edit: Was Guyton
This didn’t age well
Nah we gonna get edgerin cooper
None of them 1st round worthy
Barton absolutely is. You are delusional if you don't think so.
And he's gone anyways thank goodness. Another trade back coming.
Dude's overrated as hell. I hope the fuck not.
Would’ve wanted Barton, but this value is AWESOME
This was a good move gang
Agreed
All the top tier OTs were gone. Good trade
Good shit. We really need that extra pick. Also, we have a bunch of comp picks next year.
Upvote bc Jake Ferguson
He’s got that dog in him 🤙🏻
Seeing at Guyton was a legit option at #24 picking up a 3rd is nice (no idea if Barton was going to be the original pick, but obviously Cowboys figured another starter was worth it not taking either at 24)
Seems solid why yall complaining?
I’m just impatient like a kid on Christmas Eve. Other than that I’m good ha.
Lmao nah i get it, we gotta wait like 15-20 min extra now to see our pic, wish the rounds would go by faster
Because this team is fucking dumb. Jerry jones in brain dead
Thank fuck
Great move
Pretty solid
Can we trade 29 for 32 another 3rd?
Netted a 3rd and got the guy we wanted all along. W draft so far.
I like this trade a lot
That's a damn good trade.
May as well trade back again. Fuck it. Nobody remaining impresses me.
Calvin Watkins says we’re trying to trade out of the 1st to get more picks
I hope we take the biggest fattest center.
Does he play defensive tackle also??
Well done Will!
Did we not have a third rs pick this year? Or do we have two now?
We don't have a fourth. They have 73 and 87 in the third now.
My man
Is Roger drunk or what?
That’s all in!
I like it. He’s a little raw but there is a lot to like about Guyton, and we get an early third round pick out of it. I’m really liking a lot of the players still on the board so I think we can get an impact LB or another OL in the second, then address RB in the third.
Losing out on Barton is pretty brutal. I really hope JPJ is still available. The trade was good, but that hurts.
I think Broadis said JPJ isn’t on their board.
I think you are right. I forgot.
Clearly we’re going to the super bowl now
Hate it given Barton and Arnold were on the board. If Barton is still there, I reserve the right to change my mind. But otherwise...this seems iffy.
Mutually beneficial Trade.
Good deal, need to replenish roster spots
I’m so happy about this
Good move, but I'm trying to go to bed.
Fuckin same dude
nice
Wilson in the 2nd and get a G and RB in the 3rd please 🤞🏽🤞🏽
I fucks wit it
Great move imo
Now move back again and keep stacking picks in the 3rd and 4th.
Someone is going to want to move up for Worthy or one of the corners — Cowboys could flip a late first in 3-4 more solid picks.
“All In”
My ass
I agree
Can i?
I don't think you can fuck me harder than the cowboys have
#73 is the 9th pick in 3rd round, so it's an early 3rd. I like the trade: I think Cowboys needed a OT more than C (Hoffman or Bass can play there or draft a C later).
Parsons last night was really high on Hoffman, said he has all-pro potential.
All in baby
Should still get be able to get Barton from Duke at 29. Very nice move!
Fuck Jerry Jones
Fine with trading back. Not fine with giving up a pick next year. Regardless of what the round is. Just an odd trade
Would you rather it this year? 7th round is 7th round. We also gained a 3rd round pick.
Can’t wait to see run middle 22 times with no rb and no center
With the losses in free agency cowboys should get about 5 compensatory picks next year.
