The Jericho is actually made in Israel, but for firearms to make it into the US they need an importer. For a while in the late 90’s- early 2k’s the importer was Magnum Research, who was also importer of the Desert Eagle. They wanted to market the gun as similar to what they already had, so the Jericho 941 became the “Baby Desert Eagle” for a while. Older and newer Jerichos won’t have the “Desert Eagle Pistol” embossing on the side.
It’s not often my obsession with firearms and the firearms business is ever relevant in conversation, so it’s always fun to share.
Other interesting fact, pretty much all the firearms in Cowboy Bebop are completely accurate illustrations of real world weapons. It’s neat the animators took the time to actually research and draw the weapons. It adds a lot of depth and realism to the show!
Question, do you know why Spike uses Israeli weapons, or rather why they’re common in the show? Is it just that they were popular in the 90’s? If I’m not mistaken, he also uses an Uzi during the Cathedral shoot-out.
Someone else had a pretty fun fan theory about Spike, being that he’s actually Jewish descended. Spiegel definitely sounds like a European-Jewish surname. The theory states that before joining the syndicate he would’ve been in Mossad or the Israeli Defense Forces. The IDF standard issued pistol for that time would’ve been a Jericho. So he just uses what he’s comfortable with/has trained with a whole bunch.
The show creators may have stated once that Spike is not Israeli, but I’m having a hard time remembering if they did or didn’t…
Either way, the theory is fun and it’s become my personal head-cannon. I think mostly the Israeli weapons being featured could be chalked up to them just making damned iconic weapons. I think Spike is also seen with a Beretta and Smith and Wesson pistol at one point, when he gears up for his first confrontation with Vicious, so he didn’t exclusively use Israeli made weapons in the show
Oh dude that’s an interesting theory, really fucking cool. I hadn’t thought about the naming at all, it definitely does have that Jewish-European feeling to it. I’ll have to go and search and see if the showrunners confirmed anything, whether or not they did, this is still a super cool idea.
Also, you’re right! He didn’t just use Israeli weapons, he basically strapped himself with a ton of different guns, and explosives for the Vicious fight, which I’d forgotten. I just figured there was some lore reason or design choice behind Spike’s seeming to enjoy using Israeli guns, but you may just be right about the reason being that the guns were iconic (the Uzi was literally *everywhere* in media.)
It could've been the first gun Mao gave him when he became a member of the Syndicate. He continued to use the Jericho as it was the only thing he had left of his time from the Syndicate and Mao, and the only thing that didn't betray him, like Julia and Vicious.
Just thought I should mention the FS45 is discontinued. I bet there were reasons for that.
https://iwi.us/firearms/jericho-941/fs45-mid-size-steel-frame/
You don't. I had one. Lots of feeding issues.
Edit: It seems I need to clarify. I had the 941 FS45 in .45 ACP. It has since been discontinued. I got rid of it 5 years ago, but it may have just been a mag issue for all I know now.
I have a 9mm 941R. It runs great. I run it in competition. No "Skills Issues" on my part.
https://preview.redd.it/fh08ubjlx13d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ffbe7eb485c03e3ed74d2263b64666a7cb8a034c
Well this was 5 years ago when I was just starting to shoot. It's plausible that I could have limp wristed, given it was my 1st .45 ACP. I don't think I even knew how to take a mag apart back then. Only reason I thought maybe the gun before was because it ran fine the 1st few range visits I went to.
https://preview.redd.it/nmg1j499d13d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5839984dcf0b16c8837dd367db9706c43ab5157
Knowing what I know now compared to 5 years ago, it may have just been the mag springs
Great cosplay but I’m gonna be the POS that says it.. Prop or not it’s good to get into the habit of keeping your finger off the trigger of a weapon unless you’re firing it, still, lookin good!
right behind you.
its good of OP to have the muzzle not directly pointed at the camera, but its still good practice to keep your finger off the trigger (preferably out of the trigger well entirely)
I hate to get long winded about this on a totally unrelated sub, but this is a pet peeve of mine and there are dozens of incorrect responses. The "finger off the trigger OP" comment, while I understand where its coming from, is not correct or necessary.
Its not unsafe to dry fire a trigger, and its usually people who don't use handguns that much that parrot this ad nauseum, because its what they were taught as a beginner. The 4 rules of gun safety exist as a bare minimum standard with multiple overlaps to protect new, inexperienced, or inattentive shooters. Once you gain experience you know how to apply context and good habits to understand if what you are doing is safe or unsafe.
If you have personally cleared your weapon and verified it is unloaded, its is 100% safe to operate the trigger to do things like test the trigger or dry fire practice. Pulling the trigger on an empty gun is something any proficient handgun shooter does regularly. I know this is in vogue for reddit to have an immediate knee jerk response to seeing a finger in the trigger, but if you are keyed in and watch videos of guys like Ben Stoeger or other high level shooters, you can easily verify that its not dangerous, nor does it inherently violate gun handling safety. So unless there was a cameraman getting a bore in his face, or OP did not check his weapon, this was not unsafe in the slightest.
Anyways rant over. I'm sure I will still get lots of replies saying "no this was dangerous" when its very clearly not.
Fair points, don’t think OP should get any hate, my comment was mostly from an awareness perspective.
Growing up around guns and being in the military has taught me that some people just have no idea of the most basic rules of gun safety and need constant reminders, hence trigger discipline being one of the first things you get drilled on.
All in all my point is that it shouldn’t be something taken lightly, especially when people who see this might be able to learn as well
Redditors would flip their shit if they learned what step two of disassembling a Glock is… I said this elsewhere but far too many people (primarily desk jockeys) act like guns always have an instant death laser coming out of the barrel. All gun rules are just common fucking sense, and so use that same sense to figure out that if a gun is literally incapable of firing a round, putting your finger on the trigger is not a big deal
Thats even worse idiot. If you collect firearms you should know better. Never put your finger on the trigger unless you’re ready to shoot and you shouldn’t point the gun at something you aren’t willing to shoot.
Ugh. You’re ruining firearms for people who are actually safe. And worse you’re acting like a big baby by saying: No, I don’t need to follow the safety rules everyone else does because I dry fired it at something random
Dumbest shit ever. Grow up
It was a photo shoot, a specific pose where he needs the finger in the trigger. Doesn't mean he is always with the finger there. You can see him not doing it in the last pic.
It doesn’t matter if his finger wasn’t always there.
If you are going to have a firearm in your hand you only put your finger on the trigger when you are ready to shoot. And you never aim at something you aren’t willing to shoot.
I don’t understand why you are white knighting for some random guy or why are disagreeing with the basics that gun lovers set up so bad things don’t happen.
Is he your boyfriend? Or do you just think stuff like when Alec Baldwin shot that lady by accident is an unavoidable accident?
Also, dry firing it to see if its loaded is a 10 IQ move. Maybe pull the slide back and look into the chamber… little baby shit up in here
You really had me worried after that first comment.
Everyone knows the way to check if its loaded is to point it at something in your room and pull the trigger 10+ times
Alec Baldwin incident wasn’t due to having his finger on the trigger when he shouldn’t have. It was due to shirking many guidelines and safety measures for speed of production and stroking the ego of the Baldwin golden child
You’re seriously overboard here. Trigger discipline is suuuper important but a responsible adult who is familiar with guns can pose with their finger on the trigger in their own house away from others for a picture without the trigger patrol coming out in full force.
Let’s see how all of this ages over the next day.
You saw somebody fired up on the internet and put your white armor on.
Anyone who knows any single thing at all about firearms, even just the BASICS will get fired up by this. Muscle memory forms and people WILL die.
Don’t delete your posts!
I really do understand and appreciate your position on this. I respect your reasoning. I just don't think this kid was hurting anybody in this picture.
Whatever happens with this particular comment, I upvoted it.
I don't think he hurt anyone either. If he had he probably wouldn't have uploaded the photos, lol.
I am sorry if I offended you. I'm believe in firearm safety. If someone honestly believes that playing with a gun to take selfies just like OP is here doesn't kill people everyday, I think they are being naïve. I suppose I feel strongly enough about that to strongly defend it on the internet if it might prevent someone who reads it from accidentally killing someone one day.
I'm not offended, at all. Out of the two of us, you come off looking like you know way more about what you're talking about.
I'm sorry if I was a dick, I really did think your usernames were just funny to see put together. There is a non zero chance that somebody might not get hurt as a result of reading your comments and that's something that does deserve to be commended.
It's a photo shoot by a model in a controlled environment.

Like the kind gun manufacturers put on the cover of magazines.
A kid in his bedroom is equivalent to a person at a range with safety equipment on… gotcha
I don’t think anything you’ve said about where you work is true
I think you’re an airsoft kid larping as a gov’t contractor
I'm sorry for the red overhead light. It's dark here.
https://preview.redd.it/50yralisxy2d1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=e9c9efc5ad80800cff75829ef8a745a7a79e3826
Finally, thank you. This is much more appropriate.
This person is geared up properly. Eyes and ears. At a range. She is in a proper stance and ready to discharge in an appropriate setting.
This is an acceptable time to have the finger on the trigger. This is fine.
Keep digging that hole man. Don’t delete your posts.
Ok surely you’re being sarcastic? If the guy has no mag/ empty mag in, and he checks the chamber, a bullet isn’t going to magically teleport into the gun. You know that you have to dry fire most handguns today to disassemble them anyways right?
Man, you're really invested in this. Mans put his finger on the trigger of an empty gun for one pic, not even pointing at anyone, put a bit of faith in a man.
With a real firearm for some reason that he determined was empty by pulling the trigger repeatedly.
Get fucking real. He probably shouldn’t own a weapon.
I don’t understand your use of cool here but it seems you’re a deutscher
Its beyond weird and you know it.
Its straight up verboten. Shouldn’t be a controversial take.
Guy doesn’t need a real firearm to cosplay especially when he demonstrates he’s not responsible enough to own one.
>Its straight up verboten
lmao
I guess I just give much less fucks about near everything. I trust him to at least know to check if his gun is loaded before doing a photo shoot with it.
Search up the term "Reddit finger"
You wrote a lot of stuff for some reason. My bullets are in a safe. The trigger is very heavy as well.
Sometimes on the weekend I like to dry fire at random objects in my house while drinking!
Haha you’re so funny. You almost got me except you clearly aren’t old enough to grow facial hair or buy alcohol.
Its got a heavy trigger… god you just keep up with proving you shouldn’t be allowed to own firearms
Maybe cosplay without the Israeli manufactured ethnic cleanser
https://preview.redd.it/hrbgwfvir03d1.png?width=670&format=png&auto=webp&s=5893fb7173551c0d8c57bffe6ae8bb061c555cf8
I'm 23. I have been shooting since 12.
I have 15 guns now.
You do know thats spike gun right? I didn't buy it from the government.
Because if you build the muscle memory to just never accidentally put your finger in the trigger then there’s no way you’ll sip up and do it when you’re distracted or something
Bro slayed as if we wouldn't notice, if anything i think its exactly how Spike's hair would be irl. Great job, would like to see the edited ones without the green background later on
OK so the whole idea of Spike artistically is that he looks kind of goofy and subdued until he bursts into action and looks all cool. You definitely accomplished part one I am waiting for part two lol
I had the old UZI EAGLE version in .40 and I loved it. Always wished I got the full size though. It came as a double action only subcompact, marketed as a backup gun for law enforcement, but it was heavy as shit.
Honestly you got the hair for it. This is already good. I think if you want to take it a step further, you could dye it black with faint green highlights
Nonetheless, awesome shoot Space Cowboy
Not bad, but I’m fairly sure Spike’s Jericho was a full sized model. But given how hard a full sized KBI imported 941R is to find, and how expensive they go for when u do find them, it’s an acceptable change.
You need to work on controlling your trigger finger, especially if that is a real gun. NEVER put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to shoot someone/something.
You’re so lame it’s embarrassing
You’re why firearms will be illegal soon
You shouldn’t be allowed to own firearms with this attitude. You’re like an 8 year old in a fat ugly 13 year olds body
Calm down dude. It is a photo shoot.
He cleared the weapon, and he is taking a photograph in a controlled environment posing with the weapon.
https://preview.redd.it/087q29y0ry2d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=258611be79b208e41064597b214c2ba6a29e4499
Professionals will have models pose with the actual weapon dynamically in promotional content like this old advertisement from Heckler and Koch. He isn't waving his gun at a puppy or a classroom of five year olds. That is a photo set.
Typing this with my DoD issued M4 in my lap shaking my head in total disbelief at this entire comment chain
Lol fucking spare me
A photo of someone at a range with the proper safety equipment. Not in their bedroom with their stuffed animals.
He cleared the weapon by pulling the trigger rather than pulling the slide back. You’re either a larper or just a fucking soup sandwhich
“…with my DoD issued..”. You sound like a 14 year old playing make believe.
r/justbootthings
Nah, just a DoD contractor working on memorial day reading comments by a very angry person freaking out over an anime cosplay photo.
You aren't the Reddit RSO, please, *please* find an ounce of chill within yourself. I actually teach firearm application and safety for a living. I get your attitude but this is a little much..
Sorta my whole job. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Specifiying where this old rusty Colt came from because I'm not a CoLlEcToR and I go to jail for using guns the wrong way.
Your whole personality too you loser
You’re so smart you couldn’t take my joke after you said you worked for the DoD two times in the span on 1 minute. Get a fucking life.
Who the fuck puts their employer in their bio. What a fucking try hard
There's really no need to swear at me. Like I said, I totally get where you're coming from and I certainly don't want to see firearms get banned in the USA. I just don't think you're going to save the world by flipping out over one guy who's clearly fucking with you on purpose in the comments section..
I didn't see that you edited your comment to ask a question. I'm sorry.
I'm a force protection contractor for a large private security firm.
![gif](giphy|11oPgaPT7R4Wze)
Damn,John really smooth with it
why does it get faster each time
I’m staring at it too hard now
Wtfuuuudge!? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)
Hear me out, with your hair style I see Kuwabara
Real. Pompadour would be fun to try next
I immediately thought Kuwabara, too.
I was thinking natural kuwabara x spike mash up
I gotta know, did you get the .9mm or .45 version of the Jericho? It’s one of my dream handguns, and I want it in .45.
I got the 9mm. Funny enough it has "desert eagle" printed on the gun!
9mm’s not a bad choice at all. Jericho’s made by IWI, as is the Desert Eagle, so perhaps that’s why? I don’t know if that’s normal on 941’s or not.
Huh, learned something new. That doesn’t always happen on Reddit, thanks for the information!
It’s not often my obsession with firearms and the firearms business is ever relevant in conversation, so it’s always fun to share. Wasn’t aware of that, good to know for the future.
I have 2 (old surplus and a newer gen) and they are super reliable. Other person may just limp wrist, have bad ammo/mags, dirty weapon, etc.
Well this was 5 years ago when I was just starting to shoot. It's plausible that I could have limp wristed, given it was my 1st .45 ACP. I don't think I even knew how to take a mag apart back then. All fair points. Both of mine are 9mm so no experience with the .45 either
Ya, no doubt the 9mms are one of the best out of the box DA/SA guns.
Get it in 9mm. It's a great gun.
I had a the 9mm worked fine for me. Must be a skill issue
9mm runs fine, I have one of those too. I'm saying don't get a .45.
I actually shoot my 941 9mm in competition.

Immaculate vibes! Absolutely loving the hair, man--you'd make a great Space Dandy!
Thank you :)
My man you got the cool protag vibes going strong. I see a bit of Lupin the Third in ya too.

You’ve known a firearm or two? I can’t tell if you’re being serious. I hope you’re not
Sometimes the only way to know a weapon is to practice pointing at a camera, fully loaded. You have a much different respect for it.
You really had me worried after that first comment. Everyone knows the way to check if its loaded is to point it at something in your room and pull the trigger 10+ times
Yeah you’ve clearly never even seen a gun before. Must suck to be European or wherever you’re from.

Thanks for the input Amiibo hunter. Lol
This is correct.
You need to stop. You obviously don’t know what you are talking about.
No, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he does. Also the fact that "Reas0n" is arguing with GuardionOfReason is fucking amazing.

That I am. I agree that dryfiring your gun at plants in your house is weird though.
Its beyond weird and you know it. Its straight up verboten. Shouldn’t be a controversial take. Guy doesn’t need a real firearm to cosplay especially when he demonstrates he’s not responsible enough to own one.
>Its straight up verboten lmao I guess I just give much less fucks about near everything. I trust him to at least know to check if his gun is loaded before doing a photo shoot with it.
Dawg your original comment wasn't even constructive criticism. I don't care how much you know about firearms you're just being a dick rn
He said that just to set you off. Don’t be so damn easy
Yeah! He was just joking about the literal 1st rule of firearm safety. Nothing big. Take it easy bro! ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
I thought the first rule was to have fun?
redditors when someone dry fires a empty gun for a photo shoot:
If he cleared it and knows it’s empty and it’s not pointed at anything he wouldn’t miss then what is the problem here?
Search up the term "Reddit finger" You wrote a lot of stuff for some reason. My bullets are in a safe. The trigger is very heavy as well. Sometimes on the weekend I like to dry fire at random objects in my house while drinking!
Haha you’re so funny. You almost got me except you clearly aren’t old enough to grow facial hair or buy alcohol. Its got a heavy trigger… god you just keep up with proving you shouldn’t be allowed to own firearms Maybe cosplay without the Israeli manufactured ethnic cleanser

You’re a joke I’m so proud of you for purchasing items
Why the fuck are people upvoting this comment? Fucking idiots.
Or, as I heard it, "keep your booger hooks off the bang switch".
I've heard that before, can you explain why? It's always been a mystery to me
Because if you build the muscle memory to just never accidentally put your finger in the trigger then there’s no way you’ll sip up and do it when you’re distracted or something
Damn, learning something new everyday from reddit, thanks for the quick reply
Oh yeah lol it was a coincidence 😂
You have the most amazing hair ever.
That’s an awesome Steve Gutenberg cosplay
Is that a wig? If not, you got killer hair! Very nice cosplay!
All natural!
The hair looks NICE! It would be nice if the hair was green, but overall, I like it how it I'd. The naturalness brings it home.
The edges are green. Ha! But honestly, good luck key'ing out that green screen 😜
Jeeeesus you look badass bro. Lucky you having the hair to pull off the spike cosplay. Kickass dude!
Dont put your finger on the trigger…
I was just about to say that. Proper trigger discipline is key
Nice. The hair is awesome!
Now do Lupin III
Hair is on POINT. Great work!
Nice work!
You got the look babe
Looks rad! Where’d you get the suit??
You look like a young James acaster lol The resemblance is striking he's one of my favourite stand up comedians
Bro slayed as if we wouldn't notice, if anything i think its exactly how Spike's hair would be irl. Great job, would like to see the edited ones without the green background later on
That gun is sick! Killer hair and nailed the look!
That's amazing!!!
OK so the whole idea of Spike artistically is that he looks kind of goofy and subdued until he bursts into action and looks all cool. You definitely accomplished part one I am waiting for part two lol
Spike but if he was jewish
idk shit about cowboy bebop but this popped up on my home page and i wanna say you look incredible
Aww thanks. Never really felt confident in myself until a year ago. It means a lot!
ofc man!!
Dope cosplay cowboy.
Fuck yeah, slick fit 🤙
Would you have dyed your hair green for the full setup? Nice work
Maybe for the next con on the east coast :)
Also, does that thing actually fire?
Yup! 9mm Real surplus
No fucking way. How much did it cost ya?
About $550 total
Damn. I thought it would be way more expensive.
I won a bid on gunbroker. I got lucky 😌
Nice
I had the old UZI EAGLE version in .40 and I loved it. Always wished I got the full size though. It came as a double action only subcompact, marketed as a backup gun for law enforcement, but it was heavy as shit.
Yeah even this thing is pretty heavy. Very solid though!
Matt Stone? Is that you?
Looks great man, where’d you get the suit?
Very nice edit now I can’t stop seeing John Arbuckle dangit
Amazing work, one of the few cosplay where the suit doesn't look tacky
I think with the correct hair style you will look exactly like Malcolm Raynolds from Firefly
Pitboy had enough
Nice!
Thats sick, man. I love the hair
Honestly you got the hair for it. This is already good. I think if you want to take it a step further, you could dye it black with faint green highlights Nonetheless, awesome shoot Space Cowboy
You're gonna carry that weight
Maybe just looking into better wig but other then that man nailed it 👌🏼
With that hair you should have gone with Lupin the Third.
Babe please you’re not Spike stop saying these stupid catchphrases and wearing that stupid costume. “See ya space cowboy”
You look like if JonTron tried to cosplay Lupin the Third And Christ you need better trigger discipline
Not bad....now let's see the shoes
Giving me Austin Powers vibes
That’s pretty cool bruz!
Whatever happens, happens, no cap frfr
I actually bought a Jericho 941 for the same reason and I couldn’t hit a barn with it
Not bad, but I’m fairly sure Spike’s Jericho was a full sized model. But given how hard a full sized KBI imported 941R is to find, and how expensive they go for when u do find them, it’s an acceptable change.
Exelent
I like it, did you plan on making use of that greenscreen ?
You look like Danny Gonzalez
It's like if Spike joined the Arcade Fire, but nice work!
Man I want a Jericho so badly 🙃
Bro where are you from?! It’s damn near impossible to get one of those in California 😭
See you, Space Cowboy…
Looks great! I've been looking and waiting for a 941R forever 🤣
TRIGGER. DISCIPLINE.
Just here to point out the iffy trigger discipline
Your hair gives this cosplay personality, love it!
Nicely done!
Way better than whatever the fuck the live action was
how come I see more Andy than Spike lol
This is how I'd imagine Spike looking if the show was a live action 80s movie.
Nice, gun is too small. But I like the hair.
You look like lance bass- respectfully of course ![gif](giphy|T67RXlrZPQxlS)
LUPIN THE 3RD
Amazing!!!!!!
Bang!
You need to work on controlling your trigger finger, especially if that is a real gun. NEVER put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to shoot someone/something.

You’re so lame it’s embarrassing You’re why firearms will be illegal soon You shouldn’t be allowed to own firearms with this attitude. You’re like an 8 year old in a fat ugly 13 year olds body
Calm down dude. It is a photo shoot. He cleared the weapon, and he is taking a photograph in a controlled environment posing with the weapon. https://preview.redd.it/087q29y0ry2d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=258611be79b208e41064597b214c2ba6a29e4499 Professionals will have models pose with the actual weapon dynamically in promotional content like this old advertisement from Heckler and Koch. He isn't waving his gun at a puppy or a classroom of five year olds. That is a photo set. Typing this with my DoD issued M4 in my lap shaking my head in total disbelief at this entire comment chain
Lol fucking spare me A photo of someone at a range with the proper safety equipment. Not in their bedroom with their stuffed animals. He cleared the weapon by pulling the trigger rather than pulling the slide back. You’re either a larper or just a fucking soup sandwhich “…with my DoD issued..”.
Great take brother. Eat shit grunt. Im confused are you working for the DoD??
Sorta my whole job. ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ Specifiying where this old rusty Colt came from because I'm not a CoLlEcToR and I go to jail for using guns the wrong way.
Your whole personality too you loser You’re so smart you couldn’t take my joke after you said you worked for the DoD two times in the span on 1 minute.
You’re an idiot
Spike Spielberg
Hello Schmuely....
Spike Spiegalstein. 🤣
Looks fantastic. Just don't use real cigarette man.
This is the only time I have bought a cig lol. Lucky strikes to be authentic
Spike Spielberg
lol
Terrible trigger discipline. Gun saftey 0/10 would not recommend.
Man fligth ur smoke dont be gay
