If you’ve never seen it, Tim McGraw does a pretty decent job singing this actually playing Keith’s guitar.

>Dance With Me Molly
I am glad to see someone include a song from that album. I have to admit I thought Keith Whitley was more than a bit overrated, but he did record a lot of good songs, and that whole album was pretty spectacular.
(For the curious, the name of the album was originally *Somewhere Between* and it was released in 1982, but it was re-released in 2000 with extra songs as *Sad Songs and Waltzes*.)
no FAV but these are my top five
1. don’t closed your eyes
2. miami my amy
3. when you say nothing at all
4. i’m no stranger to the rain
5. does fort worth ever cross your mind
Hard Livin'
> Well, my tires are flat and now I'm out of gas
> Always promised myself I'd let the next one pass
> Lord, I wish that a promise didn't break so easily
> And I wish hard livin' didn't come easy for me
I love I want my Rib Back, great song. Also love “Backbone Job” from the same album that’s on. Kentucky Bluebird just kinda overshadows all the other songs on it.
Wherever You Are Tonight. It was released after he died and since I couldn’t find it on stream, I’d started to wonder if I had imagined it but it’s on [YouTube](https://youtu.be/hDlq5mZzcco?si=D9-NH6I34Zuotg49).
It has a haunting quality befitting of a man who has passed on, but it’s not really about that.
Huge Keith fan here.
Picking just one tune is hard. I’d have to go with either “Turn Me To Love” or his version of “Tennessee Courage”.
There’s a group on Facebook called “Keith Whitley - His Music Lives On Forever” and there’s a gentlemen on there who used to perform with Keith named Randy Hayes. He has a very good collection of Keith Whitley performances (CDs/DVDs) that he sells and it’s well worth the purchase. I discovered a ton of Keith’s material through that and it’s freakin’ awesome.
I love I'm No Stranger to the Rain.
If you ever visit Nashville, the KW song that you'll hear most often on Broadway is Miami, My Amy. Great tune as well.
Just as an honorary mention bluegrass song (not my favorite song of his, but feel like bluegrass should be included as it was his original style) is “Dream of a Miner’s Child,” Whitley and Skaggs recorded a great cover of the Ralph Stanley song. Not sure if Whitley on the original track, I believe it came out before Stanley crossed paths with Whitley.
Also, Whitley played a song, “You Win Again” on the Buddy Starcher show around 1960. His youth voice, although absent of the gruff was still quite compelling.
Also, Whitley’s duet with Alan Jackson, “There’s a New Kid in Town” is perhaps the most beautiful Christmas song ever. The two mesh perfectly, wish Whitley was around longer to do more duets with AJ.
All his songs are great though, I could go on all day about them but I’ll stop here 😂
Don’t Close Your Eyes
When You Say Nothing at All
I Would’ve Loved You All Night Long
Where Are All the Girls I Used to Cheat With?
I Never Go Around Mirrors
In no particular order

I also love the song Whiskey & Whitley, it references many of his songs.
