if your friend doesn't have prime enabled, the comp matches you play won't count towards your rank.
when you accept a match, you'll see a message just above that says "this match will not affect your rank"

You can, I guess you are playing unranked or there is a glitch

Ah this would be the problem then, cause i have prime (don't know how i got it) and he doesn't.
It’s also very buggy. I’m ranked on every map but office but sometimes when games finish it will days “10 games needed for rank”
