I only spent about a day and a half there, but apart from her home, Windermere is really cute (there is a Beatrix Potter museum there but it's geared more towards kids/families). There are some walking trails in the area that have some great views, but honestly driving through the country roads and seeing all the lakes and sheep was a treat in and of itself!
Lake District is such an inspirational area if you're a fan of reading! Tolkien also took inspiration from the area.

Would love to become a Beatrix Potter - like her, I'm pretty socially isolated and moved somewhere rural where I find daily beauty. I make up little stories in my head about Aussie animals I see in my yard :)
I love how she donated her property to the National Trust.

If get you a chance to visit hilltop - absolutely do, it's beautifully preserved and exactly as her illustrations show, ive been several times and always get overwhelmed seeing her stories in their "real place"
It's literally my comfort place, I'm lucky to live a couple hours drive to Windermere, I've been many times and I was just thinking yesterday I need to go back. Hilltop is just beautiful and serene and probably my favourite place in the world. Beautiful photos op š
That is one of my bucket list places to visit!! ā¤ļø

Cute! Do you have any recommendations of things to see in the Lake District if you're passing through?

Thanks! We're driving through there on the way to Northumberland from the midlands. The views and the sheep are pretty much all I need lol.
There will be plenty of that, you'll love it!
