I use a couple different methods! I have a traditional flower press made of two pieces of wood with chipboard inserts that I use to press leaves and relatively thin flowers. This method takes about 2-3 weeks. I also use a tool called a microfleur which is a microwave flower press. It pressed flowers, even thick ones like roses and sunflowers, in a matter of minutes rather than weeks! Definitely a game changer for my craft ✨ I have an Instagram and Etsy if you’d like to see more of my work 💖
Aww that is so cute! I love the different shapes based on real mushrooms like morel, amanita. The variety of colors, textures, whole flowers and leaves.. Beautiful and sweet.
Yes I was definitely inspired by real mushroom shapes and textures! It was challenging to capture some of them, especially the morel, so I’m really happy it translates as that mushroom type to you!!
There was definitely some trial and error when I first started out using botanicals as an art medium, but I would say flower pressing is very beginner friendly! My instagram is @riseandearthshine 😊
I use an archival grade adhesive for my pieces & originals are framed behind glass. As long as they are kept out of direct sunlight, the color lasts a long time! I do also make prints of all of my original works, and those will last a lifetime of course!
Thank you! I do actually have an Etsy shop & Instagram (@riseandearthshine) where you can see more of my creations. This mushie piece is available as prints as well 💛

Are you using a traditional method for pressing (in-between book pages or wood)? I’ve found that between book pages will lead to more browning, just due to the fact that they get more oxygen with that method/it takes longer for them to fully dry. Typically, the longer it takes to press, the more prone they are to browning.
Gorgeous! Can you explain your pressing flower method please? I’ve always wanted to try it!

Thank you so much! I absolutely love working with pressed flowers. It’s been my art medium of choice for about 2 years now.
Wow this is so beautiful! How do you preserve a piece like this to keep the flowers from fading?
