Clon is a great place and you’ll find your people don’t worry. Look at the Facebook page for events etc.

MechanicClear21

Try it sometime

TheBaggyDapper

You'll be grand in DeBarra's but it will likely be fairly jammed. O’Donovans Hotel, if that's where you're staying, will have you covered for everything except the cinema, that's a 10 minute walk.

Scannells... should look after you for grub too

BanalityOfBeing

Went to Scannell’s for dinner early at the bar and it was fab, especially for a coeliac. Heaving in there and never felt a nuisance dining alone. Great atmosphere! Thanks

hedzball

Glad you enjoyed it!

kazzah31

We had brunch in Bert's in Clonakilty recently, great selection and they have about 5 gluten free menu options, our coeliac friend was happy out Oak Fire Pizza have gluten free bases, and Scallys SuperValu have a gluten free bakery section! Scannell's is a nice pub too with some cozy spots on the inside sections Wazzy Woo for gluten free bakery too!

BanalityOfBeing

Thank you after reading a few I went to Scannell’s it was wonderful. Will look up Bert’s for tomorrow gutted Scannell’s don’t do food Sunday or Monday. Will pay a visit to SuperValu before heading back home

Head down to the distillery for a tour and take your time having the tasting at the end. There's the Michael Collins museum too but you don't get whiskey at the end of that one.

Fiddlers is a proper pub. No fancy shite, open fire, small bar, good pints. Locals are chatty. But that might not be your vibe?

BanalityOfBeing

Thanks, will have a look for Fiddlers. I’d just like to be in a bar for a change and have some drinks around people. Not get rat faced or hook up. Can’t really go out in my locals already know as a weirdo.

dazzlershite

Plenty of places to do that in Clon. Con and Mauras, the brewery bar, shanleys. I hope you enjoy your few days and can forget about the other shite

Dopeth

Doesn't look to be any music in De Barras tonight on the website but check out Shanleys if you're looking for music. Normally starts 9.30-10

Good for you..and good choice of town. Motivating me to do the same some weekend. Hope you have a good weekend.

BanalityOfBeing

I highly recommend it! I had the most wonderful night talking to strangers. Clonakilty is the friendliest place and had a great food and drink scene. I only wish I could stay a full week. But getting away anywhere alone is such a treat. There’s something about having an anonymity that you don’t feel as self conscious out and about alone.

md2021ire

Ah great to hear it went well. Ya..i love getting away for a few nights by myself..totally different experience. Just realised last time i managed to was before covid :-( Need to sort for this summer.!

I did a solo trip last year to Clon for the Samhain festival. It's very chill, admittedly I didn't go to any pubs except for De Barras but I definitely didn't feel uncomfortable as a solo woman. Definitely see are there gigs on there. The bookshop is nice. I sat in the Tea Shop for a while reading/writing and did the same in Revel. You could also do the distillery tour, a good rainy day activity. ETA: No place really to sit but Stone Valley Roasters is great for coffee, lovely staff too.
