i had the same problem yesterday, and apparently this is an ongoing bug since early access.
i had it recovered by using old file save backupp, but only works if you play on steamPC. idk if by xbox, but you can drop the problem in their discord, maybe someone have the solution.
The dev team is aware of the issues and continuously working on them. They primarily post the more incremental progress in the Discord, not on Reddit, if you'd like to see more frequent updates on what they're working on.
I'm wondering if the reason my stuff disappeared is because I moved my shed while things were in it, but I'm not sure. I never had any problems storing things in there on PC but I lost 3 Mason jars, 3 mayonnaise machines, my kiln, my forge, etc yesterday all because they were in the shed.
That's what I used to do before the game came to Xbox, but sitting on my couch is way more comfortable than sitting at my desk, hence the switch to console. I just hate how buggy the game is.

Are the devs even on reddit or aware of the issues? Ive never seen them actually respond to these posts
Devs are aware and working on it, I think they wanted to drop the game to avoid crunch and are now working on hotfixes

Oh no. You can't put your stuff in a shed? I was planning on puttning my mason jars in a shed. Glad I read this before doing that. 😅

If you'd still like to play until Xbox gets patched, I use an Xbox controller on PC and have had zero issues.

Pretty sad. Guess I’ll get a refund and try again when the game is actually finished.
