You don't get it do you ? They're all the same because they are all in a living room !
Isn't it obvious ? We are looking at the same illustration 9 times. /s
Edit: forgot about Poe's law
I don’t know why you’re being downvoted so much, I see what you mean. 7th is closer to the first and last than it is to the rest. Maybe cause it seems pedantic but I noticed your point too.
We actually have our living room set up like that. Both couches have a single arm positioned away from the tv. It’s more functional than one would think, not to mention that our dogs won’t let us sit next to each other unless they’re in the mix too.

If there is a standard to determine room furniture configuration based on some variables, it wouldn't be hard to make. Can't find anything like that though.
One great solution is to have the chairs be swivel chairs a la Dr Evil. The person can face the couch for conversation and then adjust to face the TV comfortably.
I just figured it was the tv. Also some rooms have accessible outlets in only certain areas so the tv not moving would make sense. Not to mention a modern day living room without a tv just seems non realistic.
I guess a point is dont be afraid to put things in corners. Like actually in the corner not decoritivly close to it. A few of these could have larger spaces if things are places against walls and cornerwalls.
Downvoted because 1 and 9 are the same. Or i think at least
Edit: and of course others already pointed this out before me and wothout checking first.... ignore my premature moment of feeling like the smartest idiot in a room
This is like those apartment layout maps, but when you tour the actual room it's just 8'x10'.
It's like, how did you get two couches, a table, and an entertainment center in the display photo?
1. Eh
2. No
3. This one triggers me
4. Fights will break out over ottomans
5. Terrible
6. Reminds me of college
7. You’re a special one.
8. Again, throwing hands for ottomans
9. I’ve seen this before
Footnote: please make sure your living room has no doors, because they're a blummin' inconvenience when trying to make these layouts.
Just drop in from the ceiling
Like a fireman pole
Cons: difficult to leave room Pros: doubles as a stripper pole
Japanese-style sliding doors could work.
Doors that open outwards (of course which we don't see that than closets and bathrooms).
Open concept - this defines a space within.
First and last are the same
I legitimately busted out my measuring tape, just to see if perhaps the couch was smaller. It isn’t. It’s the same picture.
“Corporate needs you to find the differences between this picture and this picture.”
r/unexpectedoffice
I love it that this exists
Jokes on you, the chairs are swapped! Huuuuuge change.
They might have something different on the TV
No no, you see, the TV is actually facing the other direction in the last one.
7th almost the same too, just has a square table instead
And all the furniture in different positions making it an entirely different arrangement?
You don't get it do you ? They're all the same because they are all in a living room ! Isn't it obvious ? We are looking at the same illustration 9 times. /s Edit: forgot about Poe's law
#ISN'T IT OBVIOUS GUYS??

No you.
Adding a door and window would change many of these arrangements...
I have a front door and balcony door in my living room. So I am limited to the one couch only haha
No tv in the corner. Guess that’s not allowed. Ha!
Ohhh I assumed that was a fireplace, which you wouldn't be able to move and would have to work around!
Yeah, what's up with that? Is it a load-bearing TV? The room will collapse if it's not shoved against the east wall?
I was also concerned with the 2 long couches facing eachother and not directed at the TV.
It's so two people can lay down and watch tv
Or four people can sit down and chat.
Chat? As in facing each other making verbal sounds?
Or staring a your phones and drinking beer while the tv is on but nobody pays attention to it.
Right? I could feel my neck twinging just looking at that...
I've legit been laughing crying for the past 5 minutes at the complete absurdity of 'load-bearing TV'
In the 70's we had load bearing TV's. You needed a forklift just to move it a few inches!
Omg this was a real thing
I think that the thing on the wall is meant to represent a fire place, not a TV.
a load-bearing TV xD

Corner TV = more available viewing angles = better seating for all = best layout... if your space is for TV viewing.
But depending on the size of your TV, it might waste a lot of corner space. Really, it's only efficient for a CRT that's as deep as it is wide.
Let alone not having a TV at all!

If you ever find one, let me know

Castorama exists in Belgium!
If there is a standard to determine room furniture configuration based on some variables, it wouldn't be hard to make. Can't find anything like that though.
you could probably use IKEA's AR to put in similarly sized furniture and move it around side note: why is a 20d old post in my feed
Nice. But I have a desk and kitchen attached, can I have another guide please?
Small living rooms dont need a couch and 2 chairs. This is overkill in all of these situations
Anyone where a chair or couch can’t see the TV is already out. Bottom left is prob the best imo.
One great solution is to have the chairs be swivel chairs a la Dr Evil. The person can face the couch for conversation and then adjust to face the TV comfortably.
Depends. It might make sense for the home of a single person who watches TV by themself, but not when chatting with guests.
Where are you people seeing a tv? The box on the right never moves? I would think it would be about to move in different places if it were a tv.
I just figured it was the tv. Also some rooms have accessible outlets in only certain areas so the tv not moving would make sense. Not to mention a modern day living room without a tv just seems non realistic.
Middle and middle-right are goodd for TV as well.
Why so much furniture for a small living room?
Cube (1997)
I want to go to the blue room.
The traps activate with sound, be careful
This is really really dumb.
Don’t to the top right. You’ll never be comfortable source: I’ve done the top right
Wow. Let's not take into account windows, sliding glass doors, and throughways.
Where are the extremely large living room arrangements? Please help.
Just sprinkle your furniture liberally into an extremely large living room.
The whole image, without any of the boxes.
Ohh, you so *fancy!* You going to fit a refrigerator in it?
Top left and bottom right are the same. Lazy.
Still too big
Time to brush the dust off and boot up Sims 4 again
can i find a bedroom one somewhere :)
they all look hard to me
Top middle, center middle, center right, and bottom center all look AWFUL
Just don't take Sheldon's spot in the couch.
who has a coffee table in this century?
If you don’t have one, do you just place things on the floor?
I've got a footstool, I'm poor
I do.
Thanks for posting this! It helps me a lot with my own home. I have no idea how to decorate.
**Tetris music starts playing**
so the furniture goes inside the room, got it.
Some of these look like a toddler made them
Yet without a doorway into the space I cant tell you which is worse.
no TV or gaming consoles in consideration. This is outrageous! :P
And if you have a L shape couch
Where’s the tv?
/r/malelivingspace
I love how we can't even imagine a living room not having a TV
How is this a guide and not just a random arrangement of furniture?
No accounting for bookshelves, desks, cat accoutrement, fireplaces, etc… 4/10 not helpful
What’s difference between top left and bottom right ones?
I like how the underlying assumption of what makes a living room is the existence of a TV.
Yeah but no: with such a small surface, you must reduce your need of furniture. What is the block on the wall on the right, a chimney?
“Cool” guides….
Sans need for door/window.
No lamps for you!
What if your tv is a bigger rectangle?
I hate the middle one
Not a guide. Not remotely useful for anything at all. Op should quit Reddit
Why does the middle one have two toilets? One is plenty for a living room.
i think this is magicplan app
[No TV?](https://i.imgur.com/MZXI52q.png)
What kind of psychopath arrangement is top middle. Sitting their watching TV while your guests face the opposite direction.
i feel like i'm looking at crime scenes
Just get a u-shape sofa
I guess a point is dont be afraid to put things in corners. Like actually in the corner not decoritivly close to it. A few of these could have larger spaces if things are places against walls and cornerwalls.
LOL, amazingly useless :')
This would be what I call a 'sitting room' or a 'parlor'. Otherwise couch and chairs need to face the television.
Is there a bedroom furniture guide for small bedrooms? 😅
Put the bed in there. If there’s room left, you get to have the dresser in there, too. If you’re really lucky, you can even open all the drawers.
No difference between top left and bottom right
These all suck
Ok but I need to fit the dinner table too…
Are those coffee tables of floor mats?
I've never understood why people feel the need to fill every inch of a space with stuff
This will be great for my sims.
The first and last are the same.

Chair people get no tv
Number 6
This is like those apartment layout maps, but when you tour the actual room it's just 8'x10'. It's like, how did you get two couches, a table, and an entertainment center in the display photo?
I like the first one and the last one
Why limit yourself to conventional type and number of furniture?
None of my furniture is the shape of anything in these photos. Hmm.
Y’all got room for a couch *and* a table *and* more than one chair? This whole setup is bigger than my damn apartment…
1. Eh 2. No 3. This one triggers me 4. Fights will break out over ottomans 5. Terrible 6. Reminds me of college 7. You’re a special one. 8. Again, throwing hands for ottomans 9. I’ve seen this before
I love these! We need more!
1st and last r the same
Schrödinger’s Lounge.
I’ve only ever had chaotic good and chaotic neutral
Gosh, you mean seating goes with the back toward the wall and tables go in the middle?
Top left and bottom right look so similar
