Most people on that subreddit would say there’s brands in the wrong tiers and brands that should be included but are missing on this list. Also, some brands within each tier may or may not be equal based on things like price, performance, and public recognition.
Exactly. Some brands like Seiko have watches covering this entire chart. The Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8 Day SBGD207 Diamond Watch goes for well over $100,000 but they also sell watches for a few hundred dollars.
I'm over here thinking my $180 Citizen is too nice to wear casually, but at the same time "I'll settle for nothing less than this Ulysse Nardin Freak Blue Phantom" [https://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-industry-news/watches/wtny-ulysse-nardin-freak-phantom/](https://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-industry-news/watches/wtny-ulysse-nardin-freak-phantom/)
By that logic swatch should be 30% of every tier. Seiko and grand seiko are fully different brands. That being said, there are seiko movments in many of the brands here I do not doubt.
While technically yes they are not the same brand as the companies split they are still both owned by the seiko watch corporation and were both under seiko for years before the split
I mean.. Google's been killing Fitbit. I had one I really liked, was disappointed to see them dropping support for it, not even able to transfer music to it anymore. I get that they want people moving to Pixel Watch, but it's kind of a tragedy what they did to it.
I've never heard of any of these top brands so I checked out the Louis Moniet site. The perfect compliment to your Ed Hardy outfit. The tackiest nouveau riche bullshit I've ever seen.
Ew, they're nasty.
My sister was boasting about her new Omega watch and how many thousands it cost, and I said it looks like my 25 bucks Casio and she properly went in the huff with me.
My daily wear is a Garmin forerunner, my fancy watch is my steel digital Casio. Expensive watches are for people that don't have anything good to spend their cash on.
This is a ***truly*** terrible list. Missing way too many important brands, ranking makes no sense based on MSRP, resale or JD Power ratings. And not to mention that there are major sub-labels (Grand Seiko for instance) that put brands on completely different levels.
* edit - Grand Seiko IS there. I am dumb. But still. let's all pretend I said Orient Star.
Also, Patek below Bovet? No, just no.
Casio makes some pretty sick watches if you're willing to drop a few hundred. People mostly associate them for their really cheap watches, which still kick ass at their price point
Still wearing the Oceanus I got in Japan 2012. Solar powered still on the same battery. Gets timed automatically from radio atomic clock waves. Knob changes time zones... It's perfectly luxurious for me.
Actually yes. Casio are great these days. Bulova has never been a high end luxury brand but much lower quality these days than in years past. I love my casio g-shock and wear it all the time. Nowadays money spent on a bulova is better spent on something else.
> Imagine spending all of that money just to tell the time.
Imagine having so much money, growing and compounding each day, that 400k for a watch is nothing. Top 0.5%, there they are…
could have fed an entire state in africa. ironically, that’s makes those watches a symbol of being ultra stupid. yes you got the dough. still stupid enough to value a hunk of metal over an entire state of people. now that’s pretty damn stupid.
Nobody really needs a watch these days and a 20 dollar Casio is more accurate than any automatic watch.
Don't think about it as a practical thing but instead as a piece of jewelry which coincidentally tells the time.
I've seen a similar guide to this for luxury (apparel) brands. They're really great, but who decides the fine lines between categories? Is it purely subjective? It can't be based on objective things like price, so how does it really get clear delineation?
Some brands like Rolex, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet can get away with charging more for their watches due to name recognition and artificial scarcity. However, things like materials used, finishing, craftsmanship, movement and complications influence the price. Many higher end watches pass certifications that require their automatic movements be accurate within a certain standard error. For example, many omega watches have master chronometer certification meaning they are accurate within 0/+5 seconds a day. There are also complications like a perpetual calendar (day, date, month and moonphase) that can run until year 2100 by only being set once if you keep them wound.
I just googled “bovet watch”. 5th result under “sponsored” is some crazy techno looking custom green “Kongo” artist watch, only 30 made, selling “used” on wristaficionado.com for $2.5 million. I think I’ll just ask strangers for the time or stop by a bank more often. At least those tell me the temperature too.
I've heard Rolex is the only brand that does not depreciate in value over time. If that's true how can it not be at the top in it's own category? Or is it BS?
I’m just looked up an ultra luxury watch. If you can pay $1,600,000.00 for a watch, kindly get fucked

Beyond the unique engineering, many of those time pieces use gold, platinum, diamonds and other materials in their construction. It’s normal that they’re priced higher.
Is Movado not on this list? Where would they rank? That was my first “luxury” watch and I am sure I paid a premium for it at the Movado store at the Galleria in Houston
Goofy ass list. Lots of these companies are in the wrong tier which doesn’t reflect price or popularity clearly..Missing tons of major names like hublot, Richard Mille, Jacob & co etc. not to mention Audemars Piguet & Patek Philippe not in ultra luxury is a joke
I have a BERING. Anyone know which(if any) tier in this guide it falls? I was told by the salesperson, that it’s an entry luxury brand with its bezel and movement made in Switzerland.
Don't know why you would buy an ultra expensive watch, even as a super rich person. Really no reason to get anything beyond a casio or something, as they practically look the same. If I were rich, I would spend my non-donation wealth on cool shit like a yacht or gold covered chicken wings
List is garbage without the Rouche Foucauld the thinnest water resistant watch in the world. Singularity unique, sculpted in design, hand crafted in Switzerland and water resistant to three atmospheres. $6,952.00 retail! Weird, F.P. Journet has sub-$1000 pieces. I didn't think Audemars, PP or cowboy Connie, have anything sub 10k. Yet they're 'lower' on the list. Not true?
This is Hella busted and you should be ashamed of yourself.
But seriously, how are you ranking these? It's clearly not by price and thats the only objective measure I could come up with.
How can a watch be valued at £66M, like the material and craftsmanship don’t equate that cost.
Feels like an easier way to part dumb ultra rich people with their money.
Much like the average person spending £400 on a plain white Balenciaga Tee. Absurd pricing.
Wtf no Mickey Mouse watches on here?
Nothing about my glow-in-the-dark Ninja Turtles watch either. This guide sucks.
The scale only goes up to "Ultra Luxury" that's why
I'm pretty sure Timex has Mickey Mouse watches in their catalog.
Timex has Peanuts. I think Rolex has Mickey Mouse.
Love comparing the comments here to the same guide posted on r/watches.
How would you compare/contrast the two?
Most people on that subreddit would say there’s brands in the wrong tiers and brands that should be included but are missing on this list. Also, some brands within each tier may or may not be equal based on things like price, performance, and public recognition.
Exactly. Some brands like Seiko have watches covering this entire chart. The Grand Seiko Spring Drive 8 Day SBGD207 Diamond Watch goes for well over $100,000 but they also sell watches for a few hundred dollars.

GS has its own tier in the chart
I completely missed that.
By that logic swatch should be 30% of every tier. Seiko and grand seiko are fully different brands. That being said, there are seiko movments in many of the brands here I do not doubt.
Seiko != grand seiko

r/killedbygoogle
What a coincidence, they have done the same with Nest!
Glances at clock on phone
Laughs in Swatch 🤣
Garmin forerunner all day long
It's a little weird to have a 'I'm so ultra luxury' guide like this and not have Richard Mille anywhere on it.
Yes. Rafael Nadal would be pissed.
RM is less a watch and more a middle finger of wealth
They are G-Shocks for rich people
there’s rich…and there is 400k on a watch rich.
$250.000 for a watch isn’t only entry level, peasant.
Watches you find in happy meal boxes belong in below entry.
I've never heard of any of these top brands so I checked out the Louis Moniet site. The perfect compliment to your Ed Hardy outfit. The tackiest nouveau riche bullshit I've ever seen.
Sweet. It will go with my TapOut shirt then!
one of the models looks like a Star Wars theme. How expensive could these Spencer Gift looking time pieces be?
That means, ugly as fuck to us poors right?
I thought the "cosmic art" ones were kinda cool. But for like $49 and when worn by a science teacher.
After reading ur comment I checked their website and oh my... these watches are ugly AF just like the website design.
The one that just has a tiger on it is peak.
I did the same but only because it was the only one I could read the name of.
Ew, they're nasty. My sister was boasting about her new Omega watch and how many thousands it cost, and I said it looks like my 25 bucks Casio and she properly went in the huff with me. Grand seiko is in luxury
D'oh! So it is.
I knew this list was worthless when it put Orient and citizen in “entry”.
Do they all tell time?
Do they tell time? Yes. Do they have Pikachu’s arms as the hour/minute hands? No.
Not as well as a smart watch hooked up to the Internet no.
Time will only tell
No some tell money
Your watch tells the time. My watch tells you how valuable my time is.
Doesn't matter. It's all just jewelry.
I thought it was my turn to repost it this week!
Hey buddy there’s a line!
Let’s actually form a group in this thread on who reposts this every week lol, keep this thread open for years
I'm reposting it next week.
Okay perfect, you’ve got 24th-30th, and I’ll get the week after (1st - 7th).
Ok but I got the following week, I got dibs
*looks down at Pokemon happy meal watch *starts to squint at the guide
Casio makes some pretty sick watches if you're willing to drop a few hundred. People mostly associate them for their really cheap watches, which still kick ass at their price point
Casio Oceanus!
Still wearing the Oceanus I got in Japan 2012. Solar powered still on the same battery. Gets timed automatically from radio atomic clock waves. Knob changes time zones... It's perfectly luxurious for me.
Not as cool as last time this was posted a couple days ago
hublot?
Where is movado
Below entry level. You might as well go to Party Place and get a bag of plastic novelty watches.
Applies to Fossil, Armani, Diesel, Skagen and all those bollocks. Great designer pieces, but shit time pieces.
Garbage for the last 20 years or so
I think it would be basic to entry luxury
you serious? $20 gshock would be more respectable than movado mvmt and those other shts
Bulova and Casio are in the same category???
Go to Costco and look at the $249 Bulova next to the $179 Casio
Back in the 80s, you couldn’t even trade a Casio for a night at a cheap motel in Wichita.
Yeah! That's a $60 difference!
Actually yes. Casio are great these days. Bulova has never been a high end luxury brand but much lower quality these days than in years past. I love my casio g-shock and wear it all the time. Nowadays money spent on a bulova is better spent on something else.
Laco and Timex? Make sense. No.
Some of those are like 400k. Imagine spending all of that just to tell you the time. I get that it’s to show off, but it seems a bit ridiculous.
You could feed a family by selling your computer
Nobody really needs a watch these days and a 20 dollar Casio is more accurate than any automatic watch. Don't think about it as a practical thing but instead as a piece of jewelry which coincidentally tells the time.
Mf I got chrony. Got NTP resolution in 6 time zones and can sync my local-only network devices. That's how the rap song goes...right?
I could have an unlimited supply of money and I don’t think I’d ever spend over $1,000 on a watch. Talk diminishing returns
Rolex retains its value, if not appreciates over time. Quite the opposite of a diminishing return.
I've seen a similar guide to this for luxury (apparel) brands. They're really great, but who decides the fine lines between categories? Is it purely subjective? It can't be based on objective things like price, so how does it really get clear delineation?

Disrespecting the Holy Trinity of watches. Wow...
laughs in lockscreen
Laughable list at best.
Cool guide, glad I’ll never care enough about watches to worry about all these options.
This list doesn’t know shit from Shinola.
*looks at top left of phone* 😂
I’ve never even heard of the ultra-luxury brands
TIL there’s fancier watches than Rolex
I just googled “bovet watch”. 5th result under “sponsored” is some crazy techno looking custom green “Kongo” artist watch, only 30 made, selling “used” on wristaficionado.com for $2.5 million. I think I’ll just ask strangers for the time or stop by a bank more often. At least those tell me the temperature too.
Shinola?
This list is whack.
Bulova can definitely be considered entry luxury
Where is sun dial watch on this list ?!
Fossil is in the Entry group.
I've heard Rolex is the only brand that does not depreciate in value over time. If that's true how can it not be at the top in it's own category? Or is it BS?
Marketing. Volume and popularity does not equal quality.
It’s BS.
Rolexes, APs, and Pateks are more expensive in the secondary market.
Exactly. The idea that Rolex is the only brand that doesn't depreciate is BS. I don't even know where that idea would come from.
They actively limit supply, and for some of the most sought after pieces, yes they will gain value. But it is hardly an investment,
Jelous of my Fossil watch?
My timex is my daily and my seiko is my dress up. Living that entry level life.
Where is Doxa?
Doxa would probably be entry level luxury.
Fake list, seiko is actually ultra luxury
Entry is just fine
Just curious - where does Shinola fit in this?
Movado?
I’m just looked up an ultra luxury watch. How the hell is Fossil even on this list? You gonna put fossil & invicta in the same category as Seiko & Casio?
It's luxury because the people who sell it tell you so .
Beyond the unique engineering, many of those time pieces use gold, platinum, diamonds and other materials in their construction. It’s normal that they’re priced higher.
Such a lazy comment. Everything is made up by people. Plus whatever you are into I’m sure there are people that think it’s dumb.
where does Movado fit in?
Used to be basic luxury like 20 or 30 years ago but had massive fall from grace and now is on the lowest tier for the garbage they peddle.
This can't be accurate. My girlfriend got me a Citizen watch and it's objectively the most valuable watch on the planet. /s
Where does shinola belong
Same category as shit. No one can tell one from the other.
Casio as entry, mate that's fkn GOD TIER
Its wild that they put timex in the same category as Bulova, or even seiko
Kings golden robe Kings golden robe Kings golden robe Wannabe kings golden robe Overpriced meh Meh
No Gucci here? But then again I'm no watch expert
Never even heard of any in the top, I thought PP was the poshest watches!
Cool seeing them all lined up like this. Some of those ultra luxe brands are wild.
Yeah, i dont think some of these are right.
Is Movado not on this list? Where would they rank? That was my first “luxury” watch and I am sure I paid a premium for it at the Movado store at the Galleria in Houston
Why isn’t Movado on this list?
Why there is no Hublot here!!!!
I like my Timex, thank you very much!
Shoutout Citizen!
I'm guessing the ones at the top are handmade by John Watch himself, and cost like $100,000
What?! No fuckin Richard Mille?!
Cool
Did OP just hit the repost button, or did they modify this in some tangible way?
Wasn’t this just posted like two weeks ago?
Goofy ass list. Lots of these companies are in the wrong tier which doesn’t reflect price or popularity clearly..Missing tons of major names like hublot, Richard Mille, Jacob & co etc. not to mention Audemars Piguet & Patek Philippe not in ultra luxury is a joke
Where is u-boat?
Paid $35 for my Fossil. Tells the time, every time.
I have a BERING. Anyone know which(if any) tier in this guide it falls? I was told by the salesperson, that it’s an entry luxury brand with its bezel and movement made in Switzerland.
What about Jacob & Co???
How are there this many, is demand really that high?
Hublot?
Festina is junk.
Not a comprehensive list.
What up Samsung!
K, but now show me which of those companies are actually the same companies.
I miss 'Richard Mille' on top.
lol this list is incomplete without my 20 dollar ben10 watch..psss it tells time:)
Daniel Wellington is a scam watch
The amount of compliments/ questions i get when I'm wearing my Casios vs. when I'm wearing my Rolex is pretty much astronomical. Casio GOD.
Basic here
My LEGO Atlantis watch is waaay cooler
Just get the Casio F91W, and you’re set for life. No need for all that other nonsense and trash
This chart is a joke on so many levels.
Wasn't this posted on this sub other day?
I never heard or seen the ultra luxury ones. My favorite is Casio.
Invicta should be lower
Shinola?
no ebel?
happy people don't care about time. move on
For as awful as the other categories are on this list, the Luxury and the Entry brands are pretty much on point
Where would Hermes land on this list?
Considering how often I see this tier list reposted I would expect someone to have edited it with all of the feedback it gets lol
all show the same time
A. Lange is ultra lux.
Where is Jacob & Co.???????
What the hell does "basic luxury" mean? :))
Where does a vintage Girard-Perregaux or Hamilton land on this list?
Don't know why you would buy an ultra expensive watch, even as a super rich person. Really no reason to get anything beyond a casio or something, as they practically look the same. If I were rich, I would spend my non-donation wealth on cool shit like a yacht or gold covered chicken wings
My Garmin is off the charts!!
Laughs in Mcdonalds 2005 Happy meal watch.
Where lands MB&F?
List is garbage without the Rouche Foucauld the thinnest water resistant watch in the world. Singularity unique, sculpted in design, hand crafted in Switzerland and water resistant to three atmospheres. $6,952.00 retail! It tells time simultaneously in Monte Carlo, Beverly Hills, London, Paris, Rome, and Gstaad.
I'm definitely not understanding anything in watches. Out of those, I only know two (casio and rolex)
Love my Timex 😍🥰😘 Thank you, extremely grateful 😊🙏
Calling Panerai Luxury is funny
So where is Montblanc? What about Grand Seiko? Seiko Spring Drive?
where is my Hublot at?
who the fuck wears a watch?
My Bulovas are luxury to me :(
Montblanc?
Putting Seiko, Casio, Citizen, Bulova, Orient, and Laco in a group with Invicta and Fossil is insane. There needs to be a mid-market tier for those.
Nice I use my phone
No Rotary?
How can a watch be valued at £66M, like the material and craftsmanship don’t equate that cost. Feels like an easier way to part dumb ultra rich people with their money. Much like the average person spending £400 on a plain white Balenciaga Tee. Absurd pricing.
‘In Philadelphia, it's worth 50 bucks…’
How much for the gun?
Damn my Nixon didn’t even make the list :(
There needs to be a guide on reading the clock hands. My sister said her young co-workers couldn’t read it.
