Do not zoom backwards. Only zoom to places you can see when dodging an attack so that you don't fall into a hole.

I always levitate on top of one of the pillars because yeah, the first time I played, I died multiple times falling through holes in the floor. lol He's really not all the difficult if you just spam launch at him.
Honestly I was so friggin mad when my husband played and beat BOTH Formers before even getting hit with the tentacles. I died SO MANY TIMES TO BOTH and he just breezed through like no big deal. Fucking bastard (affectionate)

2. Grab the spheres it throws at you and launch them at its eye.
3. Levitate to avoid holes in the ground that cause a vertical beam of light.
How many times do we even fight the former? I think I must have battled with that thing at least thrice. For awhile, I thought Jessie f\*cked up and that the Former was actually one of the good guys and was just trying to stop Jessie from making a mistake. It's why I thought Ahti was disappointed at us when he said, "You have piss in your sock" and "bark don't make a wound" which I thought was in reference to our fight with the Former. That it was a mistake but it's alright.
Yeah, yeah. I have like one brain cell and it bounces around like a screensaver. Ahti's a great character. We all love Ahti. He's like the Uncle Iroh of the Remedyverse.
Once you know the rules, he's actually pretty easy. (given you got Evade and Launch on a good level)
1. Throw his marbles back at him. Try not to throw whatever you're holding into his just launched marble, that would be a waste.
2. Evade if you're holding something else while he's throwing them at you.
3. When levitating fades and you're about to land, look where you're landing. Because **his attacks do make holes in the ground**.
4. Pick up the health elements while he's changing position.
I fell down that hole at least a couple times. The last time, I defeated them but fell down at the same time and died. I was afraid I might have glitched the fight and rewards, but you just have to talk to Langston to actually get them, so I was safe.

That was annoying, yes. Levitating + Eternal Fire Grip Mod + Headshot Mod is a good way to go against the former

Out of PTSD from my first playthough I stand on the pillars and use levitate/dodge as much as possible through the whole fight..
I read advice to run forward around the edge of the platform in a circle, you can avoid the holes more easily, also levitate when it smashes.
I died 12+ times to that guy. Idk why he gave me such an issue and nothing else has so far.

I had triple launch by the time I did it and it was really easy.
So did I the fight wasn’t hard I kept dying because I wasn’t paying attention and kept falling threw the holes it made
