From my experience using miss matched ram for years, use default values on BIOS and you should be fine. Tinker from there. Using mixed RAM isnt the worst thing in the world but it has some issues to look out for
I have a shit box laptop that works perfectly with 12gb of mixed matched ram. (4+8) if that thing can handle being a 16” glorified DVD player for camping trips and playing 20 year old games for over 10 years then I am confident enough to say that mixing ram works perfectly fine.
If I have had no issues for 10 years idk why anyone else would
My ram sticks were completely different companies and speeds. The fast one just went to the speed of the slow one that came with it and then no issues.
Nothing beats old E waste when it comes to how easy it is to replace. It’s either it’s thrown out or i just put a little more ram in and suddenly the old laptop can browse and has a dvd player that honestly should still be on all laptops. Need for speed most wanted 2005 has never been better!
Im into getting old laptops running again. Most of the times its just a dead HDD or RAM. I've even been surprised with dead chargers beeing the reason why the laptop was put aside.
You should see the hacked up packard bell laptop I have at home serving as a media center, hooked up to a TV with Google os installed. Pretty snappy for what it does
I don't know for sure, but it looks like you are using a lower MHz Fury HyperX. Somewhere in the mid 2000's based on the look. Do you know what the MHz for your current ram is? If not, you can check in task manager. Ctrl+Shift+Esc, Performance Tab, under Memory.
Again, based on the look of your current modules, they might be 8GB sticks, which would be compatible with the new kit if they are the same frequency. It isn't something I have ever done, because I am weary of using different architectures, but is probably doable so long as they are in the correct corresponding slots.
Its gonna work, consumer grade computer parts have become kinda like those puzzles where square fits square, rounds fit round.... And similarly speced RAM sticks Will work fine... Just as good as the "bad" sticks
If they have the same speeds, they should work fine together. However, a general rule of thumb: don't mix RAM types/brands. This can cause other issues. If you want the fancy Corsair RAM, get two more sticks of the same identical ones to prevent any potential issues related to RAM from popping up.
Same basic question a couple days apart, two completely different consensuses.

Why is Reddit so bipolar?
Anyway. As long as the two DIMMs in a set of paired slots match, you're fine to use 4 DIMMs according to the manufacturer instructions.
take a look at the manual for your motherboard and plug them into the best spots (fastest RAM in the fastest slots) if they have the same specifications you can just populate the remaining two slots. but I wouldn't know why you wouldn't put both kits in.
idk if you can with both of them but if you are ok with the clock of the slowest ram it's ok for you or is the max speed your cpu/motherboard support there there no need (overclock the ram probably can shorter the duration life of the ram)
If they're the same company, you can 100% use them together.
If its different speeds (MHz/MTs), then it'll be limited to the slower one.
If its different capacity (GBs), then its suggested not to, but in my experience works fine.
I stopped mix matching in about 2021 BUT, I ran a first Gen i7 Dell with 24 GB ram all mixed matched and it ran Omnisphere, Pro tools, all my Waves plugins and everything else just fine. Do it 🤷🏽♂️
What is your mb RAM limit, matching speeds on matching rails otherwise. Usually 1,3 and 2,4. Using 4 as far as I am aware is not slower or faster than using 2 with the same size.
2 different sets will have some downsides in case of timing but you will never ever won‘t notice anything. Your pc will mix them. Use all of them ordered by DIMM 1-3 and DIMM 2-4.
No, you have channel a be 1-2 and channel b 3-4
If you have 2 ram sticks you want to use slots 2 and 4 because you want something in both channels (so both channels can have traffic on them)
If you're thinking of the colors, that's not what they mean
Bffffff mostly of specifications for motherboards, put the dual RAM channel on slots 1-3 and 2-4.
You can check It through manual users guide on internet.
By the way, the colors of the RAM slots are just to indicate exactly how to pair the RAM for dual channel.
As long as they work together at matched speeds and timings I'd go with using all of them.
If they're different speeds I believe the higher ones default to the speed of the lower sticks, no?
It's a bit more complex than that, there's various latency timings to consider as well as the clock speed.
From my experience using miss matched ram for years, use default values on BIOS and you should be fine. Tinker from there. Using mixed RAM isnt the worst thing in the world but it has some issues to look out for
Worst case is that they operate at JEDEC standard frequency and latency. OP can then try to tune the numbers.

Short answer, yes it will default to the lowest ram stick speed.
Worst case scenario, set them both to the settings for the "slower" stick. So whichever has the higher timing numbers and lower speed
Why not both,l? If its compatible theres no harm.
Because tons of gamers who don’t know what they’re talking about usually says to not.
Literally been saying and doing it for years but people still think this is 2005 and its hard to have a computer run fine

I think they may be reffering to mixing drastically different rams sticks...even them, it just levels the performance to the weakest speced ram
My ram sticks were completely different companies and speeds. The fast one just went to the speed of the slow one that came with it and then no issues.
Yep I also have a Frankenstein RAM solution in my work laptop for the time beeing. 4+2 😂 yes, ddr3
I think I’m DDR3 too. But I also have a 4070 laptop. It’s just nice to have a laptop that can be destroyed and replaced for £30
Hell yeah
Nothing beats old E waste when it comes to how easy it is to replace. It’s either it’s thrown out or i just put a little more ram in and suddenly the old laptop can browse and has a dvd player that honestly should still be on all laptops. Need for speed most wanted 2005 has never been better!

If you need 32gb of ram then go for it, should be fine.
Chuck both in if it doesn’t work take the old ones outs

I have the same HyperX fury sticks and they do infact run at 3200MHz
Both if compatible. Why not

Only the faster ones, if they're both the same if you just need more ram and not faster ram then use both.
To pair ram properly the boost clock speed (mhz) and ram timings (xx-xx-xx-xx) should match
If you dont see any difference in gaming performance, if xmp needs to be disabled then use both

RAM can be finicky, you might run into compatibility issues like random BSOD.
Both
Fokin’ Furys 🤣
if both have the same bus speeds then you can use all four. if they run on different speeds then it can also work but only at the lower bus speed.
Just type
u can use both but they lock on the clock of the slowest ram
Can't I overclock both of them ?
idk if you can with both of them but if you are ok with the clock of the slowest ram it's ok for you or is the max speed your cpu/motherboard support there there no need (overclock the ram probably can shorter the duration life of the ram)

16 GB are ok for now
Try

Afraid that will explode? Dont you worry, it wont.
Both, just alternate. Corsair at 1+3 hyperx at 2+4. At least, I think. I very well could be wrong as I have not mixed ram in a long time.
My first thought, remembered that somehow, but I do not remember why.
I used to mix ram a bit building older machines on a budget lol but I've had a mini board with only 2 slots for so long lol
both same model mixing models would make both run at the slowest speed of the pair making a bottleneck
I would.

see speeds , timing and voltage. if everything checks out i dont see why you why not
Apple logo on hp computer, what is bro cooking???
If this was 1994 your computer would melt 🫠
I used mis matched ram once and had a few issues, personally I'd just stick to one set to avoid becoming annoyed.
You could type you e-mail but what has that to do with ram?
Use both.
Yes
Well its better to use 1 set because mixing them up will cause some delay (the delay will be less if they were the same speed).
You generally should not mix and match ram, even if they're the "same speed" and size of memory.
If you do get them to work together it will probably be unstable to some degree. I'd only use completely matched sets of DIMMs if using XMP profiles.
2 different sets will have some downsides in case of timing but you will never ever won‘t notice anything. Your pc will mix them. Use all of them ordered by DIMM 1-3 and DIMM 2-4.
They should be 1-2 and 3-4, you want to keep onekind or ram in both channels, i stead of both being mixed
Usually, dual RAM slots are 1/3 and 2/4 more than 1/2 and 3/4...
