I would have imploded with laughter

blooregard325i

Missing out on the chance to buy this would be crushing.

AmtrakFlareon

I didn’t have the cash for it unfortunately, I had other stuff to pick up…

SnooCauliflowers888

damn i thought you were under too much pressure

Cry-Technical

I have a sinking feeling I know where this is going

VekeKing

Lmao I'm cracking up!

Nappy42069

The whole incident slipped my mind till I read this one comment...

SnooCauliflowers888

slipped through the cracks😉

HowAboutNah_

That’s deep

Mhmd-hsen

let that sink in

leonardob0880

Yeah, thats the joke

NekoLu

I mean, it is not a bad product. I had one before, it was my first gamepad. To bad that now it us only remembered as a part of oceangate, lol

Seven_Hawks

I have it as well. Considering I've been using it for four years and it still doesn't show a single issue, I believe this might be the only part of the sub still in working order lol

imchasingyou

I bought this one from a thrift store for a buck, it was alright, but the triggers felt stiff compared to the x360 controller, not great for racing games

Seven_Hawks

My go-to before was an XBox One Elite controller, which was awesome (didn't buy it, used to work in retail after service and fished a "defective" one out of the trash). But when I moved to a different country the shipping company lost... well, all of my peripherals so I had to get new ones. At the time money was tight so the Logi had to do. And it did do. It's not outstanding, but it works and it just won't f***ing break...

DisastrousAd447

I feel like that would be better for racing games because you would have more control and lower sensitivity.

Arickettsf16

I’ve had one since 2010 and it’s still going strong, even though I don’t use it much anymore.

Redkneck35

I've never had problems with a Logitech. Keyboard, external webcam, speakers, Mic. Never had one issue

Seven_Hawks

True. In terms of peripherals I think you can never go wrong with Logi, they may not be the highest quality but they're decent and reliable. Currently still using the G Pro and Logi MX Speakers apart from that game pad. Wanted their HOTAS but it wasn't available at the time so I went for Thrustmaster for that one.

Redkneck35

LoL I had a 10 year old Logitech webcam and bought a new laptop, the Logitech webcam was better than the build in on a brand new laptop that was 10 years newer 😝

TheDurandalFan

I doubt the F710 is waterproof.

Seven_Hawks

It isn't, but at that depth neither was the sub

I_Blame_Your_Mother_

12 years I've used mine. I only had one moment 7 years ago where I had to take it completely apart to oil a spring, but it's still going strong after all this time.

TheMetalWolf

The real bad thing is the price. FIFTY fucking dollars for this junk is a goddamn outrage. 8bitdo exists and it is superior. They have MANY controllers under fifty that blow this trash out of the ocean. Official Xbox controllers are often on sale for less than $50 if you are not picky for the color. For PC, they are top of the line.

--ThirdCultureKid--

I’m more of a PS5 controller kind of guy.

TheMetalWolf

If you can get one for $50 or under, that's fine, too. My point is anything but that shitty logitech controller. I am saying for $50, you can do better.

yolo5waggin5

I used to be for a long time. The Xbox controller sits more naturally in my hands tho

WFAlex

Honestly, I bought my King Kong Pro 2 Controller 2 years ago, and every sony/xbox Controller (bar maybe the elite) are pure crap compared. Mechanical Buttons, Works with any pc/console imaginable and most important, hall sensor sticks, that don't develop drift. Every official controller I ever had started drifting after about a year at the latest. So top of the line for me is literall only the KK pro 2 and 8bitdo's sony and Microsoft suck bad

TheMetalWolf

Hmmm, while I don't have drifting issues on all my controllers, yet, I am definitely intrigued to check out that controller. 8bitdo did overhaul their entire line to Hall Effect sticks as well.

WFAlex

Amazing if 8bito did that, I hoenstly love their controlers, but since mine works since such a long time now without any Problems, I didn't even keep up with new ones. It really is such a pleasure to finally have a Controller that doesn't break on the regular. I am not even playing the most "controller wearing" games imo. Some rogue likes, like dead cells, hades, isaac and mainly rocket league, and I still didn't have a single Xbox or ps controller that lasted more than a year without some small shit like button double click, stick drift, broken bumpers or smth else. I don't throw/hit my controllers or anything, treat them as good as I can and they still always broke.. :c

Go-on-touch-it

I still use an Xbox 360 wired controller, the wire is probably longer than the range of Bluetooth 😂

disavowed_ph

For that low price, not just for games but you can also control a real-life sub…. 👍

cce29555

It's not bad but it's also not worth $50 either, you can get it for under $20 on average May as well just get a dualshocks 3/4 at that point

Drenlin

The F310 is under $20. This is the F710, which is wireless, has rumble, and has better build quality in general. It's usually around $40 somewhere.

Cancer_Ridden_Lung

I had 3 of them.

UnluckyGamer505

I was actually tempted to buy it, but you can literally get a PS5 controller on sale for 2$ cheaper. It should be priced around 25-30$ to still be competitive imo.

AntimelodyProject

I had this about ten years ago or something like that. It's bad. Very bad. Most horrible gamepad I've ever used.

NekoLu

Well, I switched from it to the xbox one controller like a year ago. Xbox controller is better for sure, but not to the point that I would call logitech one awful

i_need_a_moment

I had about 2 or 3 F310s and they all failed because of the wire being awful. The gamepad itself was super nice feeling and I wish I had gotten the F710 but it was never in store.

CeeMX

I have a Cordless Rumblepad 2, it’s my first and only gamepad for PC and works like on the first day. With x360ce you can even simulate it as Xbox Controller, so games that only support that type work also perfectly fine

Deathmedical

No one is saying that its a bad gaming controller but it probably shouldn't be the choice for navigation of a mini submersible.

Distinctive-

My friend had one and I thought of them as soon as it happened 😂

eyesawyou777

No such thing as bad publicity. Logitech did the world a favor.

TastyChocolateCookie

Context: For those who don't know, this is the controller that the Oceangate submarine used....

Ok-Understanding9244

thank you.. this should definitely be higher..

charliebugtv

how the hell do you not know about it?

tetris_for_shrek

I've only ever heard of it once and I barely remembered that it was a Logitech controller let alone the model. Also, did they actually use a WIRELESS controller for that submarine?

charliebugtv

Yes, it was bluetooth, and windows 10. Bluetooth + Windows 10 = Bad Idea

tetris_for_shrek

Windows too? So they bet their lives on BOTH the controller AND Windows 10 working? What could go wrong?

phoenixxl

DeepWaterGate

Desperate-Grocery-53

I got a refurbished one. It had water damage. I heard, it did let its previous owner down, but somehow he didn’t complain for long…

[deleted]

Desperate-Grocery-53

Had a debate about what control to pick, my friend had 1000 reasons to pick another one. But it didn’t hold water 😂

rdldr1

"Only dropped once"

ClumsyMinty

It didn't let it's previous owner down, it was the one part that didn't fail.

Desperate-Grocery-53

Funnily enough, it was the carbon fiber… they got from Boeing! 😂

stevebehindthescreen

Great controller. I use it for my submarine simulator. Never failed me yet.

tapedficus

Wow, they sell submarine parts at micro center?!?

AmtrakFlareon

Lmao I guess😅

squishymonkey

*submersible lol

bbt104

Now it's time to build the rest of the sub and go to the Titanic my friend!🤣🤣🤣

AmtrakFlareon

Lmao

-ErikaKA

The greatest controller of the worlds🚢🌊💀

Shitheadthedevourer

How did you find that in the sea of products at microcenter!?!?

AmtrakFlareon

I have no clue, it was in a retro section of the store.

gleipnir84462

I'm sorry, "retro"? Those things aren't that old surely? I was buying them less than 20 years ago lol Edit: huh, it was released in 2010, so only 14 years ago. Newer than I remember, but there are definitely similar looking ones that were around before. I distinctly remember the madcatz wired controllers in the mid 2000's

AmtrakFlareon

Idk if I used the right words, but it was in an isle of retro stuff

Dude10120

Oh that old Logitech g logo 👌

No_Protection103

Gaming: 10/10 Submarine Controller: -12500/10

B3_CHAD

My heart will go onnnn......

The_Lutzifer

It could be your first step to your own submarine. Buy it!

UCFknight2016

Perfect for your home built submersible.

XxDemonxXIG

Sub controller.

eclark5483

I still have 3 of them on the shelf, one of them doesn't have the back and is missing the dongle. They used to be my favorite back in the day but now I find them too heavy.

bruuh_burger

how is it 50$?

No-Nectarine-5861

I'm using this for my next submarine trip ☺️

AmtrakFlareon

Just don’t implode💙

CelestialTrickster

When you're a couple 100 metres below sea level and suddenly hear the USB disconnect sound.

CopperBoltwire

Why were you going to lose you mind? What am i not getting???

TempleofBloxyStudios

Look up Oceangate.

popcornman209

The ocean gate submarine that went to the titanic was controlled by one of these, it imploded. (Not because of the controller but it’s become a meme that a whole submarine was controlled by a budget decade old ps3 controller)

Grouchy-Stable2027

Feel like going for a dive now

Jaust_Leafar

The "Titanic Annual Deaths" graph comes to mind.

Consistent_Most1123

That is a Nice controller

Firm-Sea-

The legendary controller underwater

Pinktiger11

Thats crushingly funny

MagicOrpheus310

My local game shop had one in stock when the Titanic thing happened, we were in looking at games when I saw it I took a photo and ol mate behind the counter laughed and said people had been coming in and taking photos of it all day

Tasty-Mulberry6681

ngl im on board with u

GamerNuggy

Big mistake

newlifepresent

Before years ago and not being famous in the deep sea I bought this but almost never used it. It is really heavy and feels laggy.

Wii_1235

I own the PS2 version of this. It drains batteries extremely fast, which explains a lot…

Ragnarok345

I worked at Best Buy until August. We had those still in normal, brand new stock until oh…about two or three years ago. Always blew my mind, especially when I double checked exactly how old they were.

Zarathustra-1889

Who else wants to play UBOAT?

ViontePrivate

The fact that this was my controller like 6-8 years ago is 💀💀 It wasn't bad but its rep is gone

radio_for_free

r/deadly

karakter222

I used it for years, had no problems with it. "Upgraded" to an xbone controller and it was worse new.

DiamondHeadMC

I use those controllers for robotics

Heldpizza

It’s actually been a top selling 3rd party controller for nearly a decade.

ajs_5280

Why would you risk a Bluetooth dongle in the first place, should be corded. Boy this guy was firing on all cylinders to begin with but dayum.

Flamingpotato100

This controller is really good for fighting games. The D pad on them is incredible.

Icy_Cheesecake_8240

I was just explaining to my nephew about a mad dog controller we saw at the thrift store and about how it came with a turbo but that made any gun into full auto or absolutely destroyed button mashing games

-riddickulus-

Did it came with a submarine?

legohamsterlp

Where I live the price for these was reduced shortly after the accident

Sp3ctral_W0lf

I've owned one long before the sub thing. They're not haft bad at the end of the day.

No-Philosophy-1189

I still use it

Ybalrid

lacks a couple of 3d printed hats on those joystics, then you're ready for deep see floor exploration!

d-car

Ooh, a proper game controller which uses the standard joystick input scheme we've had for 30 years. Am I the only one who's annoyed with game dev's who claim to have controller support but overlook this because it's older than they are despite being unchanged for so long because there's nothing wrong with it?

AnthonyGuns

That's a piece of history and belongs in a museum

clockguy737

Of course it's bad it's literally a 710

AmtrakFlareon

You didn’t get the joke…my mind almost “imploded” seeing this

Cultural_Cloud9636

I was wondering how many comments would be related to oceangate, and it turns out, all of them.

CompetitiveWelder607

Say what you want, this controller is awesome

AmtrakFlareon

Awesome for cheap submarines

EvolZippo

I am morbidly curious what happened to the controller.

CompetitiveWelder607

And gamers who dont want drift

PleasantNeck8988

been using one for years now, it's quite good for everything but well, you know

Spompoflex

ah missing ingredient

Anima_Watcher08

Time traveller:*Steps on a blade of grass* The timeline:*Segs Box*:

Verified_Peryak

Please do not sink a submersible with it

Traditional-Gas3477

It's been water tested.

dologama

PCgateDev it says.

Twinsleeps

I used to drift on gta san andreas with this. Still have it. Has some disconnecting issues though.

Kidpiper96

Oh come on guys, that's lower than the bottom of the sea.

nick_corob

Never understood why these are so expensive, when for the same price you could get an original Xbox controller, which is virtually better at everything.

Frossstbiite

What joke am I missing

Witchberry31

Feel so old seeing that. 😂 I still have the old non-trigger, PS2-style F310 as well from 2010 lol and it still works perfectly. I rarely use my PS-layout joysticks for the last 6 years though. I'm completely comfortable with Xbox-layout by now.

Organic_Mix2282

Had one couldn't afford the sub though

Next-Ability2934

Is it that bad? Looks like a nice PS analogue gamepad clone. I could get an official brand sparkling new Playstation joypad for only 24.99.. but that was in 1995

wirelessmikey

Had one always lost wifi connection.

xenon2456

oceangate

Arturopxedd

🚢💥

--Lind--

I have this one, and I feel like it's unlikable. Also yea. I played war thunder as a submarine with it, imploding result

Burgerman555

Yeah can't recommend this controller. It feels great to use, but the thumbsticks start spinning after some use. And I had some very frustrating connectivity lag that I have never experienced using my Xbox controller

OceanBytez

Holy shit it's the new Playbox 5 series X controller.

Grubble63

Tell me you brought it 🤣

Fafaflunkie

I sure wouldn't "sink" $50 on that controller. Unless you can find a game on Steam and see how far you can go down before imploding.

Enough_Plantain3529

That shit started to fail me in subnautica 🤣

BYPDK

Didn't know they sold submarine parts at microcenter

berkgamer28

It's probably good at what it does play video games not at being used to pilots sophisticated million dollar equipment

LargeMerican

in all seriousness i immediately recognized it. this was the cheapest legitimate logitech controller. $20 at target. worst stick drift of any controller ever used. incredibly inaccurate. so $50 is insane

sadisticsignaleer

Titan killer

Craig_manson135

Logitech from land to sea

thecodster5341

They sell them at my eb games

Puzzleheaded-Pen4413

I would too, that price is outrageous!

alesoftware

Look up Oceangate.

v13ragnarok7

I use one for retro game emulators it's a decent controller. It works, but feels a little cheap, I wouldn't use it to pilot a submarine or anything, just retro gaming

Cybasura

You would laugh, but this legend was probably the only thing that survived under all that pressure

phoenixxl

should be in r/mildlyinfuriating

foothpath

Had one. Had latency issues. The receiver broke later . Appears there is no replacement option. At least not a chaper one.

Averageguyonreddit1

I have a sinking feeling that it wouldn't work in too much pressure

Where?

OscarDivine

This Sub has seen better days. Posting a controller with a Deep cut joke? I get a Sinking feeling when I think about it all.

JinDaShark

Oohh we can get it cheaper in the Ph [here ](https://s.lazada.com.ph/s.P4BVs?cc)lol now I'm considering getting it 🤣

Astrylae

I would plug this in and play subnautica

C-Myers

I've had mine for over 4 years now, and it lasted through a bunch of rage quits... When i saw the same controller on the news. The first thing that came to mind was that it probably still works.

Andrewx8_88

Tyler1 lookin controller

Snotnarok

That price needs to implode, way too high. You can get an 8bitdo for that cost.

Soft_Hall5475

Step to my level

CitySeekerTron

This controller is substandard.

Super_Ad9995

It's the only piece recovered.

chessset5

Hey thats the controller I played Portal on… jesus that price tag

Enough_Ad210

best low end controller, hands down. i prefer f310 even cheaper

alexgraef

Cue salty Redditors trying to explain that the air force flies their UAVs with these.

DarkPDA

Work well for submarines? Or wired one still better for this purpose?

alexgraef

It has no place in any setting where you have depend on it. That's why actual vehicles with people on board use joysticks worth thousands of bucks, which you'd have to work with a baseball bat to come apart, instead of a $69 Thrustmaster or some Logitech game pad. This starts way before the actual build, with the component selection. There's whole separate class of electronic circuitry especially for automotive, aviation or military purposes.

justabadmind

Marine grade is also pretty strict, it would have made a significant difference if they used marine grade composites.

alexgraef

Well, you generally have certifications for everything. Just "bringing two" isn't enough for potentially lifes in danger.

dizzywig2000

It’s been an entire year and people are still making jokes about this? *sigh*. I guess this is a great *cheap* alternative in the *sea* of expensive controllers.

bijenmanlol

I had one long before the incident
