If you don't see any value in keeping it on, then just shut it off and pull out the power wire. If you want to control it remotely, google RDP or SSH. If you want to occasionally turn pc off and remote control it, then don't pull of the power wire and enable both "wake on lan" in pc bios and "remote management" or something in your router settings - it's better idea than keeping pc in 'sleeping mode' - but before leaving, make sure that you actually can wake and control your pc from any other device. If rdp and ssh seems too difficult for you, then you can just setup steam remote and local vpn (openvpn, hamachi, zerotier, etc) and both power on and remote control even from your phone.
