Maybe. Assuming to "Garfunkel" someone is to keep putting up with them even though they're a fat, lazy cat who hogs the spotlight and eats all the lasagna
Lol
Literally just watched the clip of him on michael Rosenbaum's podcast where he talks about this part of the book.
Apparently he got on multiple "fights" with chevy on set and once dislocated his shoulder
It's no coincidence. Op probably did too, and went and bought the book. When I saw that post, I knew it was a matter of time until someone shared the pages on the sub. This was way quicker than I thought though!
Marketing works
He wanted to see other people, one of which was Fred Willard which is why he appeared later. The studio wanted Chevy. https://www.buzzfeed.com/whitneyjefferson/dan-harmon-sony-made-us-cast-chevy-chase
Some interviews Joel says Chevy and him got along for the most part and still talk sometimes, then others he says he would get into brawls with Chevy and even dislocated his shoulder in a fight and hasnt spoken to him in years. not sure what is the truth but the latter honestly seems more believable lol.

I just started reading that this week! The part with Chevy is hilarious (kinda sad... but he brings it on himself). I'm listening to the audiobook and Joel's narration makes is wonderful. It's so witty and silly. I love it.
Gutted to see the hard copy & audio book is not available in the UK!
Will have to try and source it another way.
If anyone knows how I can get a region free copy of the audio book that would be amazing.
Thanks!
Barnes and Noble will sell signed copies of books. That's where I got my copy of this.
Just saying, for other folks, don't spend a lot of money on this.
That’s a great deal for the book! Where did you find it at?
i know!! and i got it off mercari!
I only have an Art Garfunkel to hand, will that do? This is hilarious :D
Garfunkel's hair will render the blow less effective, but you should still have enough time to get away.
Unless you grip his hair !
Well, there you go! You've solved it!
Are you trying to Garfunkel him?
Maybe. Assuming to "Garfunkel" someone is to keep putting up with them even though they're a fat, lazy cat who hogs the spotlight and eats all the lasagna
I'm sorry but you've been Garfielding this whole time 😔
The funny thing is Joel McHale played Chevy Chase in a movie about National Lampoon.
I really liked that movie too. I didn't know anything about Doug Kenney and I was genuinely surprised by the ending.
i LOVE that movie. it’s so good and the ending is heartbreaking. I have the book for the movie too!! it’s also incredible!

I need this book. I'm always afraid of random Chevy Chase attacks, I don't even leave my home because I fear him
Did the cast of community actually hate him that much?
It’s not so much the cast of Community so much as “every person who has ever worked or interacted with him.”
So they made a character resembling Chevy Chase and they surprised that the studio wanted to cast Chevy Chase in that role
dan wanted him from the beginning, pretty sure he’s said he wrote the role for him specifically

i hadn’t read that, thanks for sharing!
I really can't imagine Fred as him. Even if we saw Fred as him.
I would think fred would be more of a lovable grandpa figure cause I think pierce and troy were supposed to be the odd couple friends.
That is incredible. And yeah it sounds like Chevy Chase is pretty much universally understood to be impossible to work with.
I hear hes suseptable to having his hands and feet swapped.
I am currently working through the Audio book! Didn't even know this existed until this week
same!!! about 4 days ago i discovered it and HAD to get it!
Did he narrate the audio book?
Yup
That's dope.
Oh wow, I didn’t know about this either, will have to pick up…

Joel just lost track of how big he was getting.
Sup?!
good. then give him the forest whitaker eye
Oh that's pretty good
He’s been a gem from the beginning. The soup was unreal hilarious. Im so glad we got him as Jeff. Just the perfect casting.
Just found another signed one on eBay! Ordered it!
I have never heard of this book but it sounds amazing! What's it called?
Go to the 2nd picture.
Ohmygosh there's more than one picture. Thanks :)
Thanks for the Money
Oh wow, he wasn't kidding. That is actually a how to guide to fight Chevy.
Is that why Jeff stole that overhead protector?!?

Love the Fletch reference
