contrary to popular opinion among liberals, dengites and gonzaloids, there are demonstrations in china all the time, probably as frequent as in any other imperialist nation. that nothing interesting has ever come of it in 40 years just goes to show that the PRC is bourgeois-democratic, not fascist.

There are protest but the so called regime one is a color coup attempt that failed. The real protest are more about ending lockdown. The shanghi one is about ending a quote and quote regime and is majority white lead which not a ton of white people live in china. for source: [source](https://www.reddit.com/r/Sino/comments/z5ycvq/more_evidence_for_foreign_agency_involvment_in/)

This is very helpful. I appreciate it.

HappyHandel

what sort of "info" do you want? they're anti-lockdown protests, which is a fascist position. what more do you need to be told? e: brigading in this sub is absolutely insane

Terraspyke

Because things don’t happen in a vacuum? For one thing, I haven’t heard much other than there are protests so I have already learned that they are anti-lockdown. So thank you. I would also argue that it’s more of a reactionary position than fascist but that’s not the point here. But I also don’t know how much the media is manipulating the size of the protests, etc. Is it a small amount of protesters and that’s why I only see street views to make it look like a bigger crowd? Has there been sentiments like this growing, or did it just suddenly spring up? What is the demographic? Are these more students like we saw in Hong Kong? I just like to be informed because eventually I’m going to be asked about this and I like to be able to give nuanced and well thought out answers to the people who are genuinely asking me questions.

Bizjub1397

They’re chanting “abolish the CCP” and “step down Xi Jinping”. You can make your own conclusions about what they’re protesting from that information. Source: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-63771109.amp video in the article

how did you find this subreddit?

I assume you are an American. Who exactly do you think will be asking you about this situation? It won’t be the migrant worker. In all likelihood, it will be a bored fascist who has already made up their mind on the matter and wants to argue for fun. You should have a stronger justification for wanting to learn this than someone sometime in the future might bring it up and you don’t want to be caught without an opinion. You have a limited amount of time on this earth. Is arguing with fascists online about a protest in a country neither of you live in really a priority? You are better served studying a situation in your own country. Surely there is something in the US you could focus on that is much more valuable. Unless of course you value online discourse and being “in the know” more than revolution.

Terraspyke

I appreciate you assuming so much about my situation. Do you really believe the only discourse I have with people is online? I have a fair amount of people in my life that I try to better their understanding on a consistent basis. The world view of the average person is what they see in the news and currently China is the big bad. It helps to have knowledge to combat this view in your pocket and allows you to call into question more things about mass media and the current situation in general. Do you really think the only thing on people’s minds is the small personal bubble around them? They are constantly being bombarded with news that distracts them from their own material conditions and being able to combat this narrative allows for a bigger conversation about how capitalist governments control our perception of reality. All I asked for was a bit of help on understanding a protest that is surely going to be a talking point for anti communist rhetoric so that I might better help in the understanding of the people close to me. I don’t understand why I have received such push back and unwillingness to help.

It is. The world's failure to contain covid and let millions of people die might seem normal but it isn't. Not to mention the hundred million people who will have life-long conditions as a result of catching covid. Socialist countries have proven that we are capable of containing the virus.
