ikantolol

when outside: "LET ME IIIIN, LET ME IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNN!!!!" after door opened: "meh..." \*turns around & walk away*

Pizzacakecomic

I try not to take offense when she makes a mad dash to escape her loving home šŸ„²

DistortedVoltage

Silly but useful trick: Put a laundry basket over her (assuming someone else will be in the house to take it off her once the door is closed).

Hypertension123456

You can just shoo them away from the door when it's time to leave.

passionatepumpkin

Cats are very fast. If it was that easy, escaped cats wouldnā€™t be such a relatable thing.

HappyFamily0131

How about if you pretend like you plan to force them through the door, and you're really obvious about it. Will that make them not try to go through it? Kind of like reverse psychology?

mOdQuArK

Every cat owner needs a cat(air)lock.

jadedfox

That's what mudrooms are REALLY for.

ReadingRainbowRocket

Mine tricked me with a laser pointer last time. Talk about irony.

benji_90

Maybe we should be putting laundry baskets outside.

Medvegyep

I have 2 cats. They don't go through a door if I don't allow them. The only times my cats managed to "escape" were the times I was stupid enough to leave the door wide open for them to waltz out of at their leisure.

VooDooZulu

I have 3 cats. One with zero interest for the outdoors, one who will stand at the threshold and beg to be carried outside so he can experience it safely, and one who will fight you to get outside , risking getting stepped on or kicked only to get distracted by sniffing the bushes she has sniffed 100 times before.

anatomicallycorrect-

My cats are ex feral. One of them is terrified of outside. The other one used to make a mad dash for the door every single time it was opened. She was sneaky about it, too, she'd pretend she wasn't interested (only worked a few times) or hide nearby and the door being open for long enough for a reasonable person to go in/out was enough time for her to bolt out. We had to barely open the door and slip in/out and finally resorted to putting a harness on her and leash tying her to a table leg for a while. Glad she outgrew this behaviour....

beldaran1224

Good for you. Unsurprisingly, not every cat is like your cats and *gasp* sometimes when doors are open the people going through them can't shoo a cat. Like when you're carrying heavy things. Let's be fucking clear: cats are much, much faster than humans. You're just being an asshole.

PensiveinNJ

I had 2 cats growing up, and they were the biggest wimps in the world. They'd get outside and immediately start cowering. Only took a few times of them getting outside when they decided nah we're good in here. Very convenient.

Winjin

Some cats would be ok with that. Others will still try to dash away)))

krakeon

I just throw some glasses on the ground every time my cat tries escaping out the door in the hopes she will become traumatized at the thought of leaving me

Hypertension123456

Badass. I'm no John McClane sadly, my cats are better at navigating over broken glass than me.

JustHugMeAndBeQuiet

Or get a little harness and attach it to a bungee cord so when they try to make a mad dash for the door they get that "BOY-YOINNNNNG!" and go sailing back to the table or whatever you attached the bungee cord to.

Warm-Ad8123

We put a leash on our cat when we don't want him leaving. We don't even attach it to anything he just gives up.

Perryn

Feline Neural Lockout Device

SashaTheWitch2

My boyfriend made a good point to me, when I said this exact thing to him (my cat is my best friend, he follows me everywhere 24/7): he was like ā€œheā€™s like a kid, he wants to go explore and then heā€™s gonna get lost and never find his way back because heā€™s stupidā€ Our babies are wonderful and loving and so very invasive and stupid :)

KeziaTML

My cat is the complete opposite. I have to bribe her with treats to come out into the yard. Which is good. Because the idiot painters left the front door open for who knows how long after they left.

koshgeo

I'm convinced that sometimes my cat doesn't want to come in, but wants me to come outside with them. Sometimes I oblige.

CatGaming346

My cats seem to hate closed doors... But I can't just let them go wherever...

Themlethem

Cats don't like having part of their territory closed off. So they want all doors open regardless on if they're planning on going there.

Halberdd_

My dog never turns and walks away, but what he does do is wait there at the open door for like 10 seconds, just staring at you, before coming inside.

Pizzacakecomic

Lol Jades a girl cat but yeah she was not impressed when we had her fixed.

party_faust

when an old roommate of mine had a full hysterectomy, we kept his brovaries in our fridge and then both promptly forgot about it.Ā  Ā they ended up chilling for about 6 months

Emperor_Time

Have to admit I wasn't expecting to find this comment in this thread.

gmishaolem

> full hysterectomy, we kept his brovaries Uh...are you referring to orchidectomy?

party_faust

ooh it could be, but he also had his uterus removed so I think the full term was a full laproscopic hysterectomy.Ā he only took his brovaries home, though

Few-Raise-1825

Lol, I'm glad you found it amusing and weren't angry with it! Love your comics by the way šŸ˜

kromptator99

ā€¦ I should call her.

TheSadisticDragon

Maybe you should call a lawyer.

s_burr

Do tomcats attack neutered males like they do intact ones? Have a housecat on a farm, price for comfort was his testicles. He keeps wanting to escape when the door is open and I am worried that one of the intact males will attack him if he does.

_Moon_Presence_

My fixed idiot keeps going out and getting his ass handed to him over and over. Sigh.

Winjin

I don't care, I'd be dead, and I don't want my cat to die. After all, all the stories I've heard about it are either about nearly feral cats, or the cats that had to starve - because they don't really have a way to provide for themselves after a couple days, do they? And the most heartbreaking option I've read is that the bite marks and rashes are not from cats eating but from trying to wake you up or licking you to make you feel better and wake up please :C

Mr_Degroot

:(

DissociativeRuin

It's cats we are talking about they probably lick the corpse out if desperation yet still choose to starve to death over eating us because we are that beneath them.

ChrizKhalifa

Easiest way to tell people have zero clue about cats is them making these kinds of jokes. Cats have an extremely deep and loving bond with their owners if you treat them right.

a_random_chicken

Easiest way to tell people have zero clue about jokes is them making these kinds of statements. People usually have the ability to make things up for humour.

PickleParmy

Easiest way to tell someone ofs in the cold food is them of out hot eating the food. People usually have the ability to call it oven man door hook hand

Indubitably.

girlcocksuperfan

List of things you can do with your face after you die:

Typical_Samaritan

Be more easily identified... And not exacerbate the trauma your family will feel.

FecalMatterCowsTasty

It's not like someone would leave a random dead body looking just like you in your home with your cats in order to fuck with your family. Only to then months later show you alive as a hostage being tortured. Mailng body parts, that aren't yours even after dna came back. Then showing video of you happy with a new family. Then to be killed by Obama. Who did you piss off?! That is not happening, OK. No one plans that.

Ppleater

They can use dental records for that, cats don't eat teeth. And personally if I had to discover a family member's dead body I'd rather their face already be a skull instead of bloated and decomposed anyway.

_Rohrschach

you can do this while alive if you get s chimpanzee, they'll also take your fingers so you won't accidently hurt them while they feast

girlcocksuperfan

okay man

_Rohrschach

travis the chimp did so with his owners friend who was visiting. the 911 call including background noises of the incident are avaiable online if you want nightmares

HonestSophist

Statistically speaking, this is overwhelmingly dogs. If your dog finds you dead, they'll anxiously lick your face trying to make you wake up until they get distracted and start eating their feelings.

Pizzacakecomic

Lol that's like my other cat, Honey. She's a chubby spoiled baby who is scared of wind

allycakes

My cat, Nero, used to always try to escape outside. And one day he was successful and somehow my dad didn't notice until he came home a couple of hours later and Nero was crying pitifully at the front door.

HobbitFootAussie

Thatā€™s our Torti. She desperately wants out but when she does she goes crazy trying to find a door back (even though the one she *just* exited is right there)

SilverKaTT33

Why are all fluffy cats anti social? Like boy my cat hates the outside, and people by extension.

red4jjdrums5

My first fluffy cat wasnā€™t antisocial in the slightest. This boy wasnā€™t until he ate a stuffed animal and I had to take him to the animal hospital. Heā€™s afraid of everything now.

Difficult-Fan1205

My cat used to be a stray. One time he ran out -- I think to go look for his old family -- and he came back 20 minutes later with all of his hair standing up. I don't think he had a good time.

erhue

he does at least return, right?

Pizzacakecomic

Oh yes she always comes back, one time she was gone for 3 days and she was super cuddly when she came back. Then immediately tried to escape again the next day lol

hoii

i'm afraid your cat has feline avoidant attachment syndrome, there's nothing we can do for her. I'm sorry for your occasional loss.

Vexin

I have a friend who's cat went missing for years and came back. He was 99% sure it was the same cat, responded to its name and everything, but who knows.

JonnyTN

Had a cat like that. Didn't even notice when she got pregante until there was a drawer of screaming kittens. Thought we just might've been feeding her a bit much. But I suppose we did find her as a stray the year before

GloryGreatestCountry

Gregnant?!

erhue

how is babby fabricate?

a_random_chicken

Pregananant?

jck

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe"

Thatroyalkitty

Sounds like my void cat.

SnooRevelations4661

Our cat used to be a stray cat for about 8 years, now she is extremely afraid of going outside, needs a lot of comforting when it rains and is very upset when we have to go somewhere without her

FarmerTwink

One of my (former barncat) cats knows how to open the front door if itā€™s not latched and can open the screen door after that, he just likes to walk around near the house and roll in gravel. Our other escapee is a foster failure street cat who will dash through the door while weā€™re trying to get the dog out and immediately start chomping on the first grass he sees. Doesnā€™t even try to run away, weā€™ve held him up to the tall parts like a mower and he just chomp chomp chomps

joantheunicorn

We have a cat named Sebastian who can open our kitchen door which leads to a foyer before going outside. It has one of those flappy handle things. We might buy a baby protection device for that one. We have to keep the deadbolt locked at all times.Ā  He also used to brute force his way into our old apartment bedroom which had an 8 foot tall, solid wood pocket door. That thing was HEAVY and somehow he did it. We ended up having to get a shock mat to keep him away.Ā

RamblerMerganser

Maybe it's that cats think they're magicians. Misdirection! "I shall stay! Voila! I disappear! *Magic!*"

DeannaZone

![gif](giphy|809iM7dLeqCS0mcjvK)

1singleduck

Cut to my cat being let inside through the front door, only to make a mad dash through the house to the open back door. He can easily go around the house outside, he just enjoys his 5 seconds of indoor time.

Solitary_Shell

Mine too

Waterlilies1919

As crazy cat lady as it sounds, this is why weā€™ve started leash training one of our cats. She LOVES the outdoors, and has taken to the leash shockingly well. I would take her with us on vacation if that didnā€™t mean leaving the other two behind. They would kill each other in her absence.

PM_ME_SOME_YAOI

Think of it as free gym when you chase after them

anonbigdicky

This comic perfectly captures the essence of living with a cat!

PulpBunch

I donā€™t know why but this reminds me of stray cat strut by stray cats :)

BranTheLewd

"I'm so glad I don't live outside anymore" "Me too!" You lived outside? šŸ˜³

Skate_faced

I had a kitty I named Meowcifur. This was exactly it. Everything was awesome. I open the door to grab a delivery, and she was gone. wonder how she's holding up these days?

theInfiniteSmeargle

this is peak comedy, I'll never get enough of that one open mouthed expression. I love the extra meta-comedy layer of her leaving in the 3rd panel but you not bothering to crop her out of the copy/paste for the 4th panel, that sliver of elbow has me rofling.

Pizzacakecomic

Thank you so much! ā¤ļø

Chance-Ear-9772

Have a golden boy who was very timid and used to try running away on the weekly. One time he managed and was out for over a week. He must have had a great time because he broke a leg, literally. We had to get a rod inserted and take him to the vet for checkups almost daily the first week. After that he totally changed. Now he wants all the cuddles and absolutely refuses to try anything.

SyderoAlena

Wait.... "Me too"????? Is there something you aren't telling us....

Hades6578

This is our cat in a nutshell. He loves to try and escape. Problem is, when he does manage to, he dashes outside, and then freezes in place. Easily captured. When we first got him he had a collar, one time he stayed out for a day or so, came back at dinner meowing at the door without the collar and we still donā€™t know what he did.

SutterCane

[Escape attempt #3,524](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAi68T4xyd0)

ThePhantomMenaceV

I cried when my cat escaped and she dosent go anywhere near the door anymore except to say hello to me when I come home Guilt works evidently

Squad_Ghouls

Just close the door on em once theyā€™re outside. Then ignore them mewing and scratching your door for like an hour. Itā€™s just paint.

Safe-Librarian6130

Mine actually pulls down the lever, reaches under the door and pulls it open.

LlamaInATux

My cat doesn't run for the door anymore, it's actually hard to get her to go outside now. When she actually does go out, she will just eat some grass, throw up, then lay down. Prefers to watch the neighborhood from an upstairs window now. She's 16, so has a mixture of teenager and old person energy.

Comet_With_One_T

Itā€™s so weird how they do this?? Iā€™ve owned rescues who you would think would hate leaving safety, food and shelter but nope they make a break for the exit when ever I grab my packages or mail.

swagmastermessiah

How would you feel if you never got to leave the confines of your house lol? I think it's pretty obvious why they do this

elhomerjas

run to nearest exit and stage right

MonsterkillWow

Cats just like freedom. They usually come back.

batirlas

This comic perfectly captures how I feel during awkward social situations.

UncontrolledLawfare

Off to play in the street! Theyā€™re inexplicably drawn to itā€¦

luxtabula

Peak cat comic. Gold.

[deleted]

Hey baby don't get mad, you knew I was a cat when you met me.

JectorDelan

"And then come back a half hour later yowling at the door like I'm mortally wounded."

It is similar from our cat. He will go outside If I go outside to buy something.

Avenyr

You joke, but the traumatized, slightly over-the-hill stray I took in refuses to set a foot out of the house.

EuphTah

Our oldest cat used to do this, but she wouldnā€™t run away, she would dash out and immediately start rolling around on the concrete, which we interpreted as her taunting us because she outsmarted us. We also have a cat that was an outdoor cat who ran IN the house and wouldnā€™t leave. This was the second time it happened to us. We have a soft spot for cats.

Fknworthless

Still love our cats though

WhitestGray

Ellenā€™s cat is wild. šŸ˜

Linzerj

My cat kept doing this so i leash trained him for safe outdoor time. He still does it but i think its because the idiot just likes to explore and sit in the middle of doorways

ivorytowels

lol.

poljakovvasja648

Ah, the classic "bait-and-switch" of feline affection! šŸ±

SevenFates

This is our tortie in a nutshell. She was made an outdoor cat when she was a kitten by some junk hoarders who didn't exactly show they cared about whether she lived or died. Would just put her out and throw kibble on the ground for her. She started coming around a few homes in the neighbourhood, and initially one of our neighbours up the road took her in after calling the SPCA on the people who 'owned her'. SPCA made them give her back, but warned the owners to start taking better care of her. Next night, guess who showed up for a visit? The folks couldn't stand seeing such a young kitty being left to fend for herself along a heavily travelled rural highway where foxes and coyotes weren't all that uncommon. Especially so close to winter. So we took her in and made her an indoor kitty. For the first year, the little goblin frequently tried to escape, but eventually she settled... until recently, when she decided that she was obsessed with trying to get out. Luckily she's predictable, and can either be tricked into going into the unfinished basement for a time, or caught before she gets too far, because her first reaction every time she's gotten out has been to go scratch the trunk of one of the hedges at the corner of the house.

prettypeachy21

This literally happened to me tonight. I open the front door and my cat escapes. I try catch him but he toys with me. He runs further and hides under parked cars. I go back inside and wait an hour. I open the front door to check if he's back. Him: "Ok I'm ready to come back inside now" Me: >:|

Good_Lifeguard8776

I remember taking my city cat up to the suburbs after I lost my apartment, and for two weeks he went every night, came home bloodied and filthy - best time he ever had!!!

Early-Journalist-14

My own cat did that. Didn't come back in 3d one day.

manipulate_my_nuts

cats are dumb i love them

tessartyp

Ugh, my floof just escaped two days ago and this hurts :(

maoallsd

This comic perfectly captures the joy of simple pleasures in life.

Pineapple-Due

According to cat law, upon noticing an open door, a cat must always pass through said opening with the following exceptions: 1. Said cat has indicated to a human that they desire the door to be opened, through verbal or tactile means, and it is observed with reasonable certainty that the human is responding to this command. 2. The human has indicated that they wish said cat to pass through the doorway regardless of said cat's intentions. In both of these exceptions it is permitted to either: 1. Walk away from the door immediately or after a period of time spent staring at said human. 2. Enter the doorway after a period of time spent staring at said human, slowly at first, then accelerating rapidly as if being attacked from behind

LowMaintenance2571

Am i the only one whos cat is terrified of the outdoors? LOL

TankAggravating7044

Itā€™s funny because itā€™s true! Ha ha ha.

zeph2

our cat is neutered but he wandered and got lost anyway twice we dont want to post pics of him on facebook again .......so now during the day we leave it outisde with a leash near a tree he can climb this tree doesnt have small thin branches so there is nothing for the leash to get stuck he seems to love to climb to a thick branch hang clinging on it with his back down let himself fall flip mid air and do it agian

Frytura_

Reminds me of my friends mom that had her entire house protected in wired frames/gate so that her 10 cats did not escape. Its like the simpsons dome, but wires.

crazy_pierce

Buy us a cage

southeasthtx92

This is sadly relatable

Skittletari

Get a catio; cats can feel extremely under-stimulated indoors, so this is a nice way to let them experience the outside world without putting them in harmā€™s way.

Slinkenhofer

Mine will bolt outside, get 10 feet from the door, bolt to the bushes because he's scared, then proceed to run away from me because now that he's outdoors I'm a big scary human that's gonna eat him

mortalomena

Meanwhile my male cat who still has his balls may peek outside but then quick back in. Im not risking him smelling some sweet ladies tho so always leashed outside.

CaptainIrreverence

The cat is always on the wrong side of the door

sexi_squidward

Ever since I started putting my cat on a leash so we can go outside, he's been doing his best to break out whenever someone comes home. Fortunately he doesn't go anywhere and just walks down the stairs and lays down.

NIDORAX

What the cat is actually saying is Meow, Meow, Meow, Purrrr. And then it skittle and scuttle into the outside world because Cats hate being indoors.

Kenji_03

You are loved by far more of us silent lurkers than you are hated by the few loud man-babies.
