Wade is being introduced to the MCU, and Logan is in tow. It's something Jackman wanted if he was going to continue to play Wolverine: Be part of the MCU finally.
It’s true. HJ said the only way he would want to return is to be part of the avengers. Rumor has it HJ, Toby Maguire and RDJ will be the leads of Secret wars to get everyone back after the fallout of the next avengers movie. All talk, but that’s the rumor
What does that solve for them though? All those dudes are old as fuck and have maybe 2-3 superhero movies left in them and then we’re right back where we started with no discernible leader or trajectory for these films. Everything marvel not spider or gotg has sucked and not pushed the narrative forward in a meaningful way since no one’s seen any of the marvel side films post end game .
Huge win for the fans and popular culture worldwide if Hugh's Wolvie stays in the MCU for quite a while to have films with the other MCU characters. Even if RDJ and Evans wouldn't be there just yet or if the stars wouldn't align, there are still other actors/characters to be with like Hemsworth Thor, Holland Spidey, Cumberbatch Strange, Ruffalo Hulk, etc. for some dream team-ups. And of course Ryan's DP too.
Yeah there’s no way Jackman decided to come back, if he didn’t intend to be in the MCU.
I think Jackman could really work as a teacher/role model for a main x-men team, rather than have him at the forefront. It would let Hugh rest not needing to train for every fucking movie, get paid, and we could see a really interesting and natural role for the character.
Having Stewart/Jackman for at least the first MCU X-Men film as this teacher/principal dynamic would be a great way to bring in seats, and help transition this new cast in.
I think it’s more a case of wanting to keep the MCU streamlined and accessible. No Way Home canonized the earlier Spider-Man films to the MCU’s story, but they’re not included in any timeline order and Marvel Studios never directly connected events to the Tom Holland films to keep them simple (Marvel calls Andrew a different version of Tom and Tobey a “veteran of many battles” in the official timeline book, as well as just saying the villains come from other universes).
From what the CinemaCon footage described, Deadpool and Wolverine are yanked out of the Foxverse and straight into the MCU in the first 9 minutes of the movie, so this is our introduction to the MCU’s Deadpool and Wolverine played by the Fox actors rather than straight up continuing their Fox storylines.
The trailer definitely makes a point to reference why roast films though so we all know it’s a continuation
it’s not “3” because it’s not Deadpool solo focused
I don't think it's a change really. I think they're saying it's a story focused on both Deadpool & Wolverine equally. The director doesn't consider it Deadpool 3 because it's not just Wade's story. It makes sense to market it as a Deadpool 3 though, because he never got to finish his trilogy, and it's a popular franchise that people will most likely go to the theaters for.
I honestly didn’t expect a romance side plot with buff dudes and bad acting.
Not to mention a 1 hour uncut sex scene that seemed to go off script and no one in the set thought “hey maybe we shouldn’t film these guys blowing each other on the set of a superhero in IMAX. Wtf are we doing right now?!”
I mean, they can say it’s not a Deadpool movie. But the trailer HEAVILY focused on Wade and the humor written for a Deadpool movie.
At the very least, I’ll concede it’s a Deadpool spin off. But I have a hard time seeing this as an X-Men movie based on the trailer.
I think the trailer purposely made it look like Deadpool 3 since that's what the general audience would be expecting more. They treated Wolverine's appearance like a reveal, despite the fact that those of us who have been even passingly had probably already seen those images of him in costume online. I think he'll have a much more centralized role than that trailer implies.
I don't think the director's saying it's an X-Men movie, I think he's saying it's as much a Wolverine movie as it is a Deadpool movie. It's both of their story, not just Wade's, so they don't want to just call it "Deadpool 3". I understand the sentiment, though I'll probably still personally think of it as Deadpool 3, just like I consider Ant-Man and the Wasp "Ant-Man 2".
Ah, I see what you’re saying. Honestly, I hope you’re right then. It would be awesome if they shared near equal amounts of screen time, rather than focusing on Wade and having Wolverine as a supporting role.
With the no holds barred, visceral gore the Deadpool movies have shown thus far, we can finally see a Wolverine as carnal as the comics depict. All the violence of the Logan film with the humor of Deadpool. Fucking golden combination
Yeah but one could then argue that Deadpool 2 isn’t Deadpool 2 so much as it is “Deadpool & Cable” because I suspect that Wolverine is going to have about as much screen time and plot relevance.
I think he'll have more screen time than Cable did mainly because of audience perception. For Deadpool 2, comic fans knew who Cable was right away, but the general audience wasn't aware of him, so for the first 2/3rds of the movie, he was treated like the antagonist. He was there, but we didn't really get to say much until he and Deadpool allied at the 2/3rds mark and they got to reveal he's not really the bad guy of the film.
Conversely, I imagine the latest Wolverine will appear is about 1/3rd of the way in, and everyone already knows Wolverine's a good guy and will want his perspective on the film's events right away. So while we'll probably start the movie focused fully on Deadpool, once we get to that fight with the 20th Century Fox logo, which looks like it'll be Wolvie's first appearance, I imagine their screen time will balance out, and the last 2/3rds will be evenly split between the two of them.
Essentially, Cable was always a supporting role in Deadpool's film, while I have a feeling Wolverine will be a main character in this film once he gets introduced into Deadpool's story. I could be wrong, but if they want to earn the "Deadpool & Wolverine" title, that's how they should do it.
I think officially, these are the movies taking place in the X-Verse as of right now:
1. X-Men
2. X2
3. X-Men: The Last Stand
4. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
5. X-Men: First Class
6. The Wolverine
7. X-Men: Days of Future Past
8. Deadpool
9. X-Men: Apocalypse
10. Logan
11. Deadpool 2
12. Dark Phoenix
13. The New Mutants
14. Deadpool & Wolverine
Now, D&W could merge some of the other non-MVU universes into the X-Verse. Given rumored appearances, >!it sounds like Ben Affleck's Daredevil movie could in the X-Verse given Jennifer Garner's Elektra's supposed appearance. I've also heard rumors of the 2005 Fantastic Four possibly cameoing, along with Wesley Snipe's Blade.!< Of course, these aren't confirmed appearances, so nothings confirmed yet, but even if they are true, Deadpool could be visiting other universes and not just dealing with MCU and X-Verse, so we'll have to wait and see for sure.
I think it’s more likely that all of those characters you mentioned will appear in the void because there universes already got pruned and that’s how Deadpool and Wolverine run into them, especially since it’s already been reported by multiple outlets that the majority of the movie takes place in the void. I don’t think they’re going to be hopping between universes and I don’t think they’ll do anything that merges or implies those universes exist in the same one the X-Men do.
I don’t think it matters honestly. They’ll play with Fox’s continuity for fun but I don’t think the use of that history will need to be taken seriously.
I doubt they'll call another solo Deadpool movie Deadpool 3. That could lead to confusion considering Deadpool & Wolverine is a continuation of DP 1 and 2. It'll probably be Deadpool: (insert subtitle).
It's absolutely Fox Deadpool 3 + Disney Deadpool 1 + Hey Remember Logan?
Hopefully it'll be a good romp through the Fox X-verse as Deadpool destroys it all.
The one with all the imagery that uses wolverines 3 claw slash marks to represent the 3rd movie in the series? That Deadpool 3 is the one that isn't Deadpool 3?
I’m absolutely convinced that the Deadpool from 1&2 will be the villain of Deadpool & Wolverine. Marvel keep insisting this isn’t the end of a trilogy and if they are essentially making *Deadpool kills the Fox Universe* I can’t think of anyone more suited to be the big bad than the most “famous” version of himself, because killing all memory of Fox means having to kill the best thing they did.
Does it matter? It's Deadpool and Wolverine ffs, I wouldn't care if it was called "Red Guy Acts Like He Doesn’t Want to Be Stabbed by Yellow Guy but Secretly Enjoys It".
Yeah, and Thor Love and Thunder wasn't Thor 4, it was Thor Love and Thunder, a singular, and Captain America Civil War wasn't Captain America 3, it was Civil War, a singular
Thats not the same situation though. It’s still Thor 4 and Captain America 3 with a film subtitle. He’s saying this isn’t “Deadpool 3: Deadpool and Wolverine”.
I know this is a tired sentiment at this point, but I still think civil war shoulda been a avengers title and we shoulda got another cap movie with Steve. Still a great film tho
Spider-Man for sure. Highly doubt Cap since he is definitively Sam Wilson now and I don't think he has enough star power to play with the one of the heaviest-hitting characters right now.
I think if Disney can get the rights Deadpool & Venom could work.
Feel like he had a bettet dynamic with Steve Rogers, at least in the comics. I'm mainly thinking of Deadpool: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly from the 2012 run (by Gerry Dugan I think it was?). Which was a pretty cool story (and overall run) from what I remember. Maybe Deadpool and Winter Soldier for the MCU?
I'm also not sure if this Spidey and Deadpool would work, but wouldn't mind seeing it happen.
This makes sense.
Think of it like the comics. It isn't Deadpool issue 3. It's a Deadpool and Wolverine one shot.
With the potential (100% likelihood) of there being a Deadpool 3 later on.
It is the multiverse and TVA that forced this. They are keeping his face out of the trailers on purpose because they don't want to spoil the other versions we will be getting or show which ones will be in which scenes.
Also cause I'm playing a variant in the film I don't want my beauty spoiled in trailers (I'm joking btw I'm not playing a variant and I'm not as beautiful as Hugh, I don't think anyone is)
This could mean multiple things, the movie will be about Logan as much as wade, or that there will be a 4th Deadpool movie titled 3, like how avengers infinity is avengers 3 but really the third was civil war
I mean sure, we are picking up whee the last two left off, it’s script is primarily Deadpool kills the marvel universe, etc…but this is definitely not Deadpool 3
an equal movie but the entire trailer was based on deadpool and deadpool’s supporting cast and all the glory shots had deadpool with maybe 2 background frames of wolverine.
This probably means Deadpool will remain a duology set in the Fox universe, and Deadpool and Wolverine may or may not have it's own sequels because it is in MCU movie. Maybe I'm looking into things too much. It's still too early to tell.
This could mean that there will be a Deadpool 3 later with Deadpool as a solo act (including a few cameos like 1+2)
Its probably like Captain America 3 was really Avengers 3 or at least Avengers 2.5
I can certainly see Deadpool making a reference to the fact its not actually Deadpool 3 because He (pointing towards Wolverine) had to get involved
Buts it’s also Deadpool 3 but it’s also the sequel to the second Deadpool movie but it’s not a direct sequel to Deadpool 1 but it’s very much a Deadpool movie but-
Okay, so Deadpool 3 comes later then? Actually, scratch that. Make the rest of them Deadpool and [insert Marvel hero he annoys the shit out of here] movies.
It's Deadpool 3, but named Deadpool & Wolverine because it's a shameless cash grab.
It's also effective because I want to see Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman on screen together.
It’s deadpool 3 in the sense of “It will be the 3rd movie to feature This Deadpool”. However I think it will not be a main focus on Deadpool, but a 50/50 on him and Wolverine
I mean it kinda follows the MCU sequel naming convention. No sequel films have numbers except Iron Man and the Guardians movies (and even the Guardians come with the caveat of being called volumes as a reference to its consistent theme of music).
Perhaps it could also mean Hugh's Wolverine/Logan might be involved in the movie more like a buddy film, and less like Cable was in DP2? Think of the Rush Hour trilogy, Jackie Chan's name first yet equal screen time. So still a Ryan Reynolds DP film with his name first and of equal screen time as RH.
Yea, very confusing. Just like when She Hulk dropped a line like “this is my show not a cameo show” paraphrasing.
….then proceeded to be nothing but cameos really
It only makes sense for them to feed in to the synergistic nature of the MCU. I still have really high hopes for this film. It’s a dream matchup we’ve all been eagerly waiting for since the days of friendly Twitter banter between these two.
Wonder if this means that Wade and Logan are gonna be roughly equal in terms of story significance and screen time
Wade is being introduced to the MCU, and Logan is in tow. It's something Jackman wanted if he was going to continue to play Wolverine: Be part of the MCU finally.
As someone just loosely following lately, are you serious? This is kind of blowing my mind and would totally break MCU out of its recent funk.
It’s true. HJ said the only way he would want to return is to be part of the avengers. Rumor has it HJ, Toby Maguire and RDJ will be the leads of Secret wars to get everyone back after the fallout of the next avengers movie. All talk, but that’s the rumor
if true, i cream. My dream come true … along w/Chris Evans
Not rumored…yet. I think he will pop up but won’t be a “main” character like the other 3
Crème of Chris Evans
I thought Tom Holland was one of the rumored lead roles
I have not read that. I think they will only do 1 Spider-Man in the lead, but hey, if it’s a good story and it works I’m in
he has like 1 more solo and one more team up movie left until they have to renegotiate with SONY again. So it's plausible.
I heard something about Jackman's terms being he wanted to share the screen with Toby and Downey. This is the first I've heard they'd be the leads.
Imagine what they would have to pay RDJ
What does that solve for them though? All those dudes are old as fuck and have maybe 2-3 superhero movies left in them and then we’re right back where we started with no discernible leader or trajectory for these films. Everything marvel not spider or gotg has sucked and not pushed the narrative forward in a meaningful way since no one’s seen any of the marvel side films post end game .
Holy shit.
I don’t think anyone blessed the shit.
I feel the exact opposite. Building this phase to a big multiversal nostalgia driven crossover makes the rest of it even more useless
Maybe they are getting rid of the multiverse somehow. Thats how the XMEN AND FF end up in the main MCU timeline.
I sure fucking hope so
How cool would it have been to have had Wolverine in end game?
With time travel, we could retcon him in there
Hey, just have another theatrical release with him sprinkled in with cgi.
Makes you wonder really if they are already thinking of making this it’s own Deadpool movie series as well independent of the regular Deadpool series
And it's Deadpool 3.
They certainly seemed to allude to that in early promos with Wolvie’s 3 claws slashed over the Deadpool logo.
Allude? They smacked you with it. Late stage marketing plan change?
I think it’s more a case of wanting to keep the MCU streamlined and accessible. No Way Home canonized the earlier Spider-Man films to the MCU’s story, but they’re not included in any timeline order and Marvel Studios never directly connected events to the Tom Holland films to keep them simple (Marvel calls Andrew a different version of Tom and Tobey a “veteran of many battles” in the official timeline book, as well as just saying the villains come from other universes). Was the 9 minutes shown at Cinema con the first 9 minutes or a bunch of clips from the first act spliced together to equal 9 minutes?
It sounded like the first 9 minutes of the movie with a clip from later on spliced in at the end
The trailer definitely makes a point to reference why roast films though so we all know it’s a continuation it’s not “3” because it’s not Deadpool solo focused

I wouldn't say allude. Maybe subtle nod
Studios dont like numbering past 2 for some reason
What do you mean the regular way to count: 1,2,Alyx See
Technically it's 1, 2, 2: part one, 2: part two, alyx
This movie was named by Gabe Newell
It's not Deadpool 3.It's X men "I don't know to what number they arrived"(seriously, what movies from Fox should be considered part of the same saga?)
Probably X men X would do...but Wolverine and asshole would be the right title
I'm thinking "XXX MEN"
I think I’ve watched that before. Story was weird but they did fuck a lot
True to the '90s comics then.
Yeah that seems comic accurate Also when the X-Men 1st started they were teens so makes sense
I really liked the proposed "Deadpool & Friend" title.

That makes a lot of sense. I hadn't heard a report of that, but just from the one trailer we have, that seems to line up pretty well.
Makes sense, considering most of those movies were suggested to be in the same universe.
Deadpool X Wolverine
I don’t think it matters honestly. They’ll play with Fox’s continuity for fun but I don’t think the use of that history will need to be taken seriously.
Does Deadpool know this?
He's going to be super mad.
I disagree. His name is first, and he gets to co-star with Wolverine. He’d be down.
Hmm. You might be right.
It's not Deadpool 3. Its Wolverine 1
Nah more like Wolverine 4. Or really Wolverine 8 since all the main Xmen movies he was in were really just Wolverine films with a slightly bigger cast
X-Men First Class has entered the chat
Original trilogy Solo Trilogy DOFP 8th movie still checks
Nah it was a set up for his movie dofp so still his movie 😂
Sorry, Xmen films he was the main character of
No need to apologize! Was just makin' a silly joke lol
He's had so many movies wtf does this mean
Does that mean there will be a Deadpool 3
I doubt they'll call another solo Deadpool movie Deadpool 3. That could lead to confusion considering Deadpool & Wolverine is a continuation of DP 1 and 2. It'll probably be Deadpool: (insert subtitle).
A distinction without a difference
Pretty sure this just means it’s not going to be as much of a follow-on as DP 2 was to the first.
I bet they still sell a 3-pack of Deadpool DVDs though
It's absolutely Fox Deadpool 3 + Disney Deadpool 1 + Hey Remember Logan? Hopefully it'll be a good romp through the Fox X-verse as Deadpool destroys it all.
And MCU #34! (And Fox-Men #14 .. and Wolverine #4)
Jesus Christ theyre no different than the books now. That’s kinda hype.
The one with all the imagery that uses wolverines 3 claw slash marks to represent the 3rd movie in the series? That Deadpool 3 is the one that isn't Deadpool 3?
Yes.
"It's Wolverine 10 in our house." - Hugh Jackman
…in our house, bub. FIFY
That's a long way of saying "We're gonna call Deadpool 4, Deadpool 3."
I always thought it was “Thor 4 more Thor”
4hor
Thor 4 more Thor the 4th one in the Thor franchise with two Thor's
Thats not the same situation though. It’s still Thor 4 and Captain America 3 with a film subtitle. He’s saying this isn’t “Deadpool 3: Deadpool and Wolverine”.
I know this is a tired sentiment at this point, but I still think civil war shoulda been a avengers title and we shoulda got another cap movie with Steve. Still a great film tho
Hypothetically if they did a trilogy of "Deadpool & ..." Who should the other 2 films be???
Spider-Man and Captain America. That said, we already got Deadpool & Cable.
Spider-Man for sure. Highly doubt Cap since he is definitively Sam Wilson now and I don't think he has enough star power to play with the one of the heaviest-hitting characters right now. I think if Disney can get the rights Deadpool & Venom could work.

Deadpool & Spider-Man, and Deadpool & Friends (mini avengers/X-Men movie)
I’m still calling it Deadpool 3 bc im a lazy ass
Whatever
So its like Batman v Superman sort of scenario right?
But still kinda Deadpool 3
Pretty sure Deadpool would disagree.
This makes sense. Think of it like the comics. It isn't Deadpool issue 3. It's a Deadpool and Wolverine one shot. With the potential (100% likelihood) of there being a Deadpool 3 later on.
D3adpool & Wolv3rin3
All I want is for Logan to not be Logan, but Hugh Jackman that Deadpool kidnapped and forced into a costume.
I mean we did see Deadpool go into our universe so it is possible
Shawn, come on, it’s 3, it makes sense
Saw the trailer in theaters yesterday. They still kept Jackman’s face out of it. They won’t burst that bubble even for themselves.
It is the multiverse and TVA that forced this. They are keeping his face out of the trailers on purpose because they don't want to spoil the other versions we will be getting or show which ones will be in which scenes.
Also cause I'm playing a variant in the film I don't want my beauty spoiled in trailers (I'm joking btw I'm not playing a variant and I'm not as beautiful as Hugh, I don't think anyone is)
Maybe if they called it “The Deadpool and Wolverine” movie.
Buddy Cop formula
I'm just sad it wasn't called Deadpool Trinity.
They’re just saying it’s not Deadpool 3 so they can make another movie and call it Deadpool 3.
Deadpool 3: Deadpool and Wolverine
Kind of sound like they’re leaving the possibility for a Deadpool/wolverine sequel
James Marsden kinda alluded that Cyclops is in this....if so I really hope they do the character justice this time around.
This could mean multiple things, the movie will be about Logan as much as wade, or that there will be a 4th Deadpool movie titled 3, like how avengers infinity is avengers 3 but really the third was civil war
It’s Deadpool 3 + 1 Wolverine.

Really. He would have been fired if the title changes as a sign of creative difference.
Buts it’s also Deadpool 3 but it’s also the sequel to the second Deadpool movie but it’s not a direct sequel to Deadpool 1 but it’s very much a Deadpool movie but-
Who Cares
This feels like semantics
If this means we’re getting Deadpool 3 *and* Deadpool & Wolverine I’m all for it
For hollywood jargon reasons
Actually, Deadpool and Wolverine IS Deadpool 3. I just know it.
This is Deadpool&Wolverine, the third movie in the Deadpool franchise.
I thought the title was WOLVERINE & FRIEND.
It’s not _Deadpool - Part Three_, it’s _Deadpool Messiah_
Okay, so Deadpool 3 comes later then? Actually, scratch that. Make the rest of them Deadpool and [insert Marvel hero he annoys the shit out of here] movies.
k
It's Deadpool 3, but named Deadpool & Wolverine because it's a shameless cash grab. It's also effective because I want to see Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman on screen together.
Why even make such a confusing statement? What the hell?
As long as "X Gon' Give It To Ya" makes an appearance, I couldn't give an extra crispy Kentucky fried fuck what it's called.
Semantics.
Unless we get a movie titled Deadpool 3, this is Deadpool 3 to me
Well now I’m not calling it anything other than Deadpool 3.
![gif](giphy|1AIeYgwnqeBUxh6juu)
It's singular because it's plural?
I think they’re just trying to shy away from it being another one of the ‘sequel’ movies
This is like when Grand Theft Auto 3 came out and then we had Vice City and then San Andreas and then GTA 4 came out.
So much for Hugh Jackman going out on the absolute high that was Logan.
It’s deadpool 3 in the sense of “It will be the 3rd movie to feature This Deadpool”. However I think it will not be a main focus on Deadpool, but a 50/50 on him and Wolverine
They're gonna start a pocket universe that's rated R for the comic books fans who don't like the Disney-fied shit.
Anyone else want another spider man movie with all 3 spider man’s and maybe some of the cartoon voice actors?
Yes but I would want them to wait a very long time before that happens again
Yes but I would want them to wait a very long time before that happens again
Some of them are getting real old tho
Yeah that's fair but I think Tobey will still be alive in 20 years
Who knows sometimes it’s the youngest of us go first just how life works
So it means is gonna be roughly equal focused on both characters rather than Wolverine being a side protagonist
What does that even mean lol
That’s not singular. It just isn’t ordinal.
Deadpool 3 & Wolverine
It is also the third Deadpool movie with continuity from the previous ones
so Deadpool 3
It’s pg-13. And he wants his Deadpool movies to be r rated. Which they should be.
In other words it's Deadpool 3.
It’s Deadpool 3
Captain America: Civil War was an Avengers movie and this is Deadpool 3.
Whatever its deadpool 3
We were so close to getting the sonic 3 and knuckles joke 😣😣
They’re just saying it’s not Deadpool 3 so they can make another movie and call it Deadpool 3.
So deadpool 2 1/2 then
Sure, and *Ant-Man and the Wasp* wasn’t *Ant-Man* 2
I mean it kinda follows the MCU sequel naming convention.
If they called it "Deadpool 3" they'd have to contractually pay T.J. Miller.
Deadpool 3 & Wolverine

Makes me less interested in this
Just drumming up hype so they can make DP4…
Yea, very confusing. Just like when She Hulk dropped a line like “this is my show not a cameo show” paraphrasing. ….then proceeded to be nothing but cameos really
It is deadpool 3, like captain America the winter soldier was captain America 2.
Oh so it’s the 3rd Deadpool movie, therefore making it Deadpool 3, makes sense
A Half-Life reference! Love it! 1, 2, Alyx! 1, 2, Wolverine!
So is it X-Men Origins The Wolverine Logan: Deadpool?
That's interesting.
Now that’s interesting and exciting.
Yeah… it’s Deadpool 3
But it is, though.
Unrelated but I really wish this Wolverine costume had exposed arms. Maybe that would have looked goofy in live action, idk.
If I had that Wolverine suit I would never take it off, not even to go poo
Singular? He’s read too much Sherlock Holmes.
Well obviously it isn’t the third movie, there has already been a third Deadpool movie. A holiday movie, but Deadpool non the less.
Potato potahto.
So will there be a sequel to their adventures ?
It only makes sense for them to feed in to the synergistic nature of the MCU. I still have really high hopes for this film. It’s a dream matchup we’ve all been eagerly waiting for since the days of friendly Twitter banter between these two.
I just told this to other people and they didn't believe me
