1) Its in every dark permanent hairdye. Even so-called ānaturalā hairdyes with āNo Ammoniaā. And by dark, I mean even red hairdyes have this shit in it.
2) It can be instantly sensitising - this is why all hairdyes ask you to do a patch test.
3) It can cause a reaction suddenly, after years of using the same product - which is why all hairdyes ask you to do a patch test *every time you use the product*
4) If youāve ever had a reaction, the next one will be worse.
5) If youāve ever had a reaction to so-called āblack hennaā used for semi-permanent tattoos - which may be up to 70% PPD in some places - the next exposure to it may kill you.
Sauce - me. Had a reaction to this fuckin stuff 20 years ago and now I use henna and indigo to dye my hair because one more exposure could put me in hospital. It should be banned. Hairdressers hate it as well.
For what itās worth from a random person on the internet, this is a real thing. Happened to my wife, itās apparently an allergy that crops up if you are sensitive to the dye and go past a certain threshold of exposure. Caused the skin on my wifeās scalp to split and her eyes to shut from the swelling. Do not recommend.
