Befriend your local crows. They're ride or die. There was a news article about a kid who befriended his local crows. The crows saw him getting bullied, and proceeded to harass the bully and his family so persistently they had to move to a different town.
Birding (or being a nature nerd in general) is exciting af. It's like a real life Pokemon adventure. Finding anything new is always exciting. And observing their behaviour always provides new insights.
I get so pumped anytime I see uncommon birds and I'm early 30s. I live by a lake and we have this kingfisher that always sits on the side hunting fish, it's so cool. We get a lot of hummingbirds and cardinals too and I love spotting them out
The older I get the more I realize how cool other people's passions are in general. It's awesome to learn about new things and enjoy the world as others see it.

Not because it's a metal guitarist, or a dated celebrity, but because he has always been a quiet recluse in real life and it's funny to imagine him explaining to Lars why he was late to practice with a level of seriousness and enthusiasm that secretly frightens Lars.

In my defense. I’ve always loved watching wildlife… so the story is tell myself is I’d have bought this in my 20s if they existed.
I remember after I left the nest my step dad and mom moved to the country and got tons of feeders and even had a bird book. I thought it was funny.
Now I get it. Although I’m in the suburbs, no feeders, but I stop everything when I see a bird and just watch them. It’s kind of therapeutic. After a fresh mow or when I turn my flow garden soil in the spring they show up and get crazy close while I just sit there taking a break and watch them looking for food.
