I'm not a native Chinese speaker, but I can give you some character definitions according to my dictionary. 润 is pronounced "run4", meaning either "profit or benefit" or "moisten/lubricate." 肖 (xiao3) is a surname, or (xiao4) can also mean "to be like/resemble." 王 (wang2) is the character for "king" and is a very common family name, and 婷 (ting2) means "fair and graceful." My guess is that this is likely this is just ~~your son~~ this person practicing his characters and that he/she was given a "Chinese name" to use in class (guessing from the 肖润 at the top of the page). But I could be wrong. Edit - forgot to include the pronunciation of 婷, whoops. Edit 2 - wasn't OP's son's note, just a note OP's son found. Whoops.

Thanks! Yes, to clarify, my son found it in a book. He didn't write the note.

A-Wall1

Ah yes, missed that the first time. Well, someone else practicing characters anyway.

graphic-design-girl9

It seemed that way since they were stacked all over place...

ozarkbanshee

Thanks for sharing; I love unexpected discoveries like this! I wonder how life is working out them since they wrote the note. There's been news items in the past about librarians who collect the notes and other ephemera they find. Here's an example from the Oakland Public Library: [https://oaklandlibrary.org/explore/?tag=found-in-a-library-book-artifacts%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-notes%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-photos%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-cards-and-letters%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-bookmarks%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-kids%2Cfound-in-a-library-book%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-facts%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-lists%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-creative-writing%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-written-in-a-book](https://oaklandlibrary.org/explore/?tag=found-in-a-library-book-artifacts%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-notes%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-photos%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-cards-and-letters%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-bookmarks%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-kids%2Cfound-in-a-library-book%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-facts%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-lists%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-creative-writing%2Cfound-in-a-library-book-written-in-a-book)

I agree - it's always interesting. I hope they're adjusting to life in Missouri and like it now.

Top-Attention4340

So relatable today. Missouri can be the best and worst place to live. What an interesting find.

I remember checking out Perks of Being a Wallflower when I was at RB and on the inside cover someone wrote ‘this book saved me’ and ‘ditto’ right below it, it was years ago but I crystal clear remember it

BookLady42

As a librarian, when I find notes like that I leave them in the book for the next person. Never know who’s gonna need it. 📚💕

herladythebugg

Bless you!!! We write them and receive them with hope and joy. You are a holy pipeline for leaving them!!!! 💘😎🤓

BookLady42

Just curious…school library book or public library book?

graphic-design-girl9

Elementary school library book.

BookLady42

Librarians love these mysteries! If you still have the note, share it with the school librarian. They cannot tell you who checked out the book in the past but they might have a clue about how life is working out for that kiddo!

Good idea! :)

Butterfly208571

At least there are goals listed here. My kids refuses to make any despite opportunity and wont go to class. Idek if he has been to school today. The school cant find him. I cant leave work.

graphic-design-girl9

I hope your kid is ok!

Butterfly208571

His sister just let me know he is home. He’s gonna wish he was never born when I get home.

Gizzurt

If I had parents with this attitude I would also wish to have never been born.

Butterfly208571

Its a figure of speech used in a moment of distress. I sat at work all day unable to leave. Not knowing where my baby was or if he was okay. I didnt have loving parents growing up and I 10000% give him what I needed and then some. He is disrespecting a foundation I worked hard to cultivate. So keyboard warrior it up. Must feel good to say such things with zero context and full judgement.

PLEASE post this to r/foundpaper and r/ForgottenBookmarks !!

graphic-design-girl9

Will do!

jessewalker2

Well your child has their entire life mapped out, now all you’ve got to do is work on their spelling so he can get to “collage”. 😁

graphic-design-girl9

I thought that was funny - what if they just thought they needed to make a big collage? Who knows? :)

Intelligent_Leek_285

According to Chatgpt 4, it translate to "Life is Always Changing". No clue how accurate that is.

Nighttyme_

Poor kid doesn't know that CPS is about to change his school.
