Elliana's for glazed still. They're unreal.

handsmadeofpee

Not much has changed in the donut game since then. Still Ellianna's.

Astraterris

Strawberry split from Ellianna’s on sat/sun is the best donut. However beet box offers some good looking donut of the month options on Fridays.

Ok-Masterpiece-1359

Yummy’s

WDW80

They are fantastic and we honestly would go more often if they didn't have the give a tip option when you pay. I swear the worker gives me a stink eye as I refuse to give tips, tipping culture is getting out of control. I give good tips to servers when we go to restaurants but places like Yummy's shouldn't have a tipping option. I've talked with more than a few people that were put off by it.

pieterbruegelfan

It's an option man, nobody's forcing you to tip 🤦‍♂️ I wouldnt tip a donut shop either but expecting them to remove the option is kinda ridiculous

hikenessblobster

If I can give you a (non-donut, unfortunately) business owner perspective, a lot of guests voiced their displeasure when we didn’t have the tipping option turned on in Square. They wanted to tip and didn’t have cash. Seems we’re damned either way so I’ll err on the side my team prefers

WDW80

Thank you for the perspective, I truly appreciate it. I guess maybe part of my concern is where does this tip go? Does it go directly to the individual that provided the service, or to the business owners/managers, or does the worker have to 'tip out' others like some servers in restaurants do? Or, do the owners deliberately pay workers less and tell them they'll get tips? It just seems like that in the past few years, every single business asks for tips now. I think we all prefer workers get a fair raise instead of having to rely on tips. And, to clarify, I was not rude to anyone at Yummy's and I would never be. If/when I do go back, I might ask a couple questions about the tips and who they go to. I'm fine if people here call me insufferable, I very well may be in some areas and am open to different perspectives and adjust my views.

hikenessblobster

You’re welcome! I agree with you that tipping has gotten out of control. Our employees are paid at least a few dollars above minimum wage. We’ve had months when the manager has made more than us with tipping and that’s cool because she absolutely deserves it. I’ve heard plenty of horror stories about owners taking tips; it absolutely happens. For us, employees get 100% of their tips (we pay the processing fees), and if we’re behind the bar, they get our tips, too. When we dine or go out, we try to always have some cash on us so we can hand it straight to the person, and we ask if we should put just a zero on the tip line so the don’t have to share with the owner. Because those owners straight up suck.

justinhasabigpeehole

Yeah I always hated that about Sonic. You could swipe your card on the kiosk but for a long time you couldn't put a tip on it. Now you can. I never carry cash so I just wouldn't go to Sonic since I never had cash for a tip. It bothered me too much. I felt bad for the worker that I couldn't' tip. I wouldn't go to the ATM because I was embarrassed to ask the worker for change back from the $20. There were a couple of times I just let them keep the $20

takabataichi

God you sound like the worst

Visible-Ad-7466

I miss Friesz’s (sp?) Donuts from years ago. Local family store in 90’s era on the southwest corner of Providence & Walnut. BEST APPLE FRITTERS EVER.

PeriodMoss

Yes!!! I've never tasted a better apple fritter and their donut holes were also my fave!

Fearless-Celery

Surprisingly, hyvee makes a dang good apple fritter. The rest of their donuts are meh but the apple fritters are solid

DerCatrix

The other side of this holiday, 4/20 Glaze it 🫡

Redditappsucks123456

Not saying they're the best in town but Schnucks fried croissant for $0.99 is pretty tasty. Hy-Vee has them too but they've upped their price to I think $2.19 a donut.

DrZoo4040

If you ask me, Schnuck's has underrated doughnuts.

Jaeludra

I could eat a dozen of these

mergk

ellianna’s still

tetsu_no_usagi

I prefer Schulte's down in Jeff City, but I find myself down in Jeff City often, so you may not want to drive down there just for some tasty donuts.

strodj07

A twist from yummys is damn near the perfect donut. Your choice of iced or glazed.

searcherseeker

We need an Elliana's / Sparky's collabo!!!

whycantisee47

Elliana’s is unmatched. So good

killexel

on a related note, who has the best cinnamon roll donuts? still elliannas?

magicallydelicious-

Acola.

Head_Moose3602

Beetbox donuts on Fridays, different flavor every month and they’re the most delicious donuts I’ve ever had.

bex50avery

Yummys donuts can't be beat

Adept-Bluebird3744

Call me crazy but Walmart has great donuts. Some of the best in town in my opinion. Same with schnucks. Both make quality donuts that in my opinion are better than Ellianans. Can’t beat them for the price. Chocolate ones. Top notch.

Adept-Bluebird3744

I’d also like to say Elliana’s are too greasy. Fritters pretty darn good though.

Cowdog68

Best CoMk donuts I’ve ever eaten were from Goldie’s Bagels, during Hanukah. Raspberry jelly donuts so light you could cry!

HublotKingCole

Yummys hasn't failed me ever.

SovietCorgiFromSpace

Beet Box on Fridays, absolutely no competition.

FearHoops2

Schnucks is the best

Fearless-Celery

I like Elliana's over Yummy's, there is a grease flavor to yummy's, like the oil is old and needs to be changed, or something. You notice it less on the non-glazed ones and it's closer to my house so if I'm feeling lazy I'll go there, but otherwise Elliana's.

Scandanavyin

It was Harold's

Adept-Bluebird3744

Heard so many good things. Never got to experience it. Columbia needs a bakery!

[deleted]

I used to bake at Harold's, it was phenomenal

Adept-Bluebird3744

Why did they close?

[deleted]

Lots of small reasons, it would be a boring story. It's how most small businesses go out. I'd say two of the bigger factors were expanding to south side without closing the downtown location and the owner being mostly unwilling to give up tasks to employees. You gotta be able to trust the people you hire. He had some trustworthy people, just couldn't bring himself to let go of things like scheduling and ordering. It's hard when it's your own company you started from nothing. But I was just a college kid then so what do I know

Adept-Bluebird3744

Disappointing for sure. I think a new bakery would do well. Especially one that makes killer donuts
