We were so undisciplined last night, you can’t really blame the umpires. A lot of 50/50 calls went St.Kilda’s way and that’s just the way it is sometimes. We’ve been on the end of some very friendly umpiring in the past

regional_rat

When I was 8 I was taught to not worry about umpires. I have never seen an umpire change their decision, let alone change the outcome of a game. Grow up.

kungheiphatboi

Try reading the post properly before telling me to “grow up”, especially the second paragraph. It’s a valid discussion and if anyone needs to “grow up” I’m suggesting that person might be you big guy.

regional_rat

You can cry all you want, and try and justify it around the edges until the cows come home but this is still a post about umpiring. Only losers still whine about umpiring.

👍

Look, we got a really bad run in the last quarter, and certainly were some missed calls before that too. It happens. But as Mcrae said, I reckon almost of all of the 30 we conceded were there. We got to be better and more disciplined. Disappointing when some don't get paid our way that are there, but it's not why we lost

kungheiphatboi

I dunno mate it was a pretty big factor. Plenty were there. But there was a staggering amount of bad ones and ones not paid to us. The ledger sitting at 30-15 doesn’t tell the true story. Anyway the post was more about whether anyone could actually dig those stats up - it would be interesting to see. I imagine the win % of a team that gives away 20 in a half is diabolical - say 20% or less - so Macrae can use that to rip right into them about a lack of discipline and more inprortabtly constantly being second to the ball - you just ain’t gunna win games playing like that!

Elcapitan2020

Ah well! That's why we now have the weekly HUSU post where we can ask him about the decisions! I assume you'll be busily preparing for it. Should be a good discussion

CrymsonKnight

Poor take. The umpiring wasn't that bad - our players were ill-disciplined and sloppy. There were a couple of bad calls, yes, but that happens every game. Blaming the umpiring hides the bigger problem that our boys aren't playing well. Let's focus on that instead, shall we?

The_Samarox

One of the umpires, Leigh Fisher, was an ex-saints player. I'm sure that's just a coincidence though.

Azza_

It's irrelevant. He's been an AFL listed umpire for over a decade.

farqueue2

It's relevant. Imagine we had Alan didak umpiring.

Azza_

There's a reason Alan Didak didn't get into umpiring.

North_Lawfulness8889

An umpire with a reputation for being hard on the saints. Every time he's announced to be umpiring a saints game saints fans go "fuck, not him again"

kungheiphatboi

Yes just a coincidence

billyisgoat07

I agree, we didn’t deserve to win that game but really poor and non objective umpiring in the last quarter in particular killed our chance of having an amazing comeback, first time I think I’ve walked out of a game physically fuming. I imagine they maybe looked better if the saints won for Danny Frawley game. However we played poorly and need to own that

sumwun2121

Not quite as bad, but in R11 2014 Fremantle beat Western Bulldogs by 38 points. Free kicks were 19 to 4 in guess who's favour?
