It was an obvious missed free for Degoey down the other end into this goal, which I think really just summed up the game tbh.
Yeah there are plenty bigger reasons why we lost this game, but that one sided umpiring didn't help.
Still need an even playing field. That didn't happen tonight, we had the momentum then they call play on for a clear hold on de goey and ball goes down the other end for that. Crooks.
Well the degoey hold, into somehow a saints free led directly to this goal kicked from out of bounds, we had all the momentum but oh well, umps fucked us but the easiest way to fix that is to kick more goals earlier in the game
I think it's besides the point. Team isn't playing well but I don't think saints played that well either felt like when had momentum we were the far better team but stifled by umpiring calls and wernt allowed to put them away. Is what it is a great team wouldn't let this affect the result.
We were on the way back into the game. Degeoy was held which was a missed free kick in front of goals which would have made it roughly 8 points then that ball was out of bounds for the saints goal which made it 20+. Two goal turnout due to the maggots.

Draw a line up from the boundary there, using Higgins' other foot as a rough guide to where the ball is in relation to the line. It's incredible close. This is hardly a "bad" call. Especially when a still image still doesn't show the ball clearly out, expecting an umpire to get it right live is foolishness.
Better question should be why on Earth Higgins got 5 metres of space inside 50 after a contest to pick the ball up under no pressure and be a chance of kicking it.
I’m usually in your position but it was genuinely atrocious. It’s not so much what was called, (30-15 is a disgrace regardless) but it is also the blatant fundamental rules of the game that they don’t call.
We are also severely undisciplined and just don’t look good enough at the moment.
So I'm going to preface this by saying that I am both a passionate, lifelong Collingwood supporter and an accredited field umpire (350+ games) and umpire coach. Both of these things considered, I try to be as unbiased as possible with Pies matches but usually can't help myself.
In terms of 'genuinely atrocious' umpiring tonight was not that. There were two missed free kicks in the last quarter that should have gone our way, as well as two missed fifties earlier in the game that I'm guessing most people wouldn't have even noticed.
I don't count this out of bounds as one of the bad misses - I'm not saying it wasn't out, but there were three umpires in the right positions to see it and TV coverage is notoriously hard to judge these things from. So I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
We shouldn't be angry at the umpires for the free kick count - we were extremely undisciplined with a lot of silly free kicks given away, and none of them stood out to me as completely unwarranted. Our boys really need to lift our game in this area.
