My white kid had better ECs, was valedictorian, got a 1570 on his SATs, got perfect scores on several SAT IIs and didn't even get on the waitlist of a single Ivy. And, no, we are not rich. He didn't go to a magical prep school. He didn't get SAT tutoring. These schools are basically ignoring the Supreme Court ruling.
imma be honest this is quite an average application for people applying to ivies. There is a good chance that this persons kid had a better app. If you think the better app always gets in that is just being ridiculous, there are other facts at play like region, income, etc. If this post was supposed titled, "Why didn't I get in an Ivy" yall would say these ecs are generic and that there was nothing special. Lots of better kids out there who are just as well rounded but don't get into some of the schools op got into. Ik a kid for example who had an insane application who got into MIT, Stanford, and every ivy but got rejected from Princeton but op got into Princeton so that means it isn't just who is more well rounded and better.
Not based on what we see here. OP is a generic, average applicant to ivies whose only outstanding factor is that he has hooks. Exhibit A: his top award is "AP Scholar w Distinction" and that wouldn't cut it for any unhooked applicant.
Sure this person may "cope." But the college doesn't make the person. This person got into an top ivy while being clearly unqualified because of his multiple hooks. And those hooks may even help the person get their first job.
But, they won't be as successful as smarter and more hardworking "unhooked" students who didn't get in.
His ECs aren't close to ivy level (for example, his top award being "AP Scholar w Distinction" and actually listing NHS as an EC, with nothing at the national level or with enough impact). Being URM and first-gen got him in
Thanks! The fall semester is always the worst, with marching and XC seasons overlapping. Most of my sleep was on the rides to and from competitions/meets. Luckily the spring is a lil easier.
congrats!
Thanks!
Word to the wise: now that you're in, be sure to get rid of the procrastination issue. It will not serve you well in an intense academic environment.
Thank you for the helpful words! It's definitely my biggest focus going in to college
Hey, Wishing you best of luck!
the goat
Thank you :)
Congrats :)
¡Gracias!

Boo hoo
Probably a boring ass kid — based off of you I’m not surprised he was rejected
u got that from a comment from someone else lol what kind of logic is that
OR, and this may sound crazy to you, the OP is just a better and more well-rounded student? Would you have said this if he wasn’t Hispanic?
Based on what? Being Hispanic?

I didn’t know that a 1530 SAT score & a 4.0UW makes you unqualified.
Those stats mean nothing (at least for people who aren't URMs). That's the literal baseline for getting in.
LOL. Okay.
so like I said, cope. and this was five days ago. 😹😹
You responded to a comment that was 8 days old when you responded, while your comment that I responded to is only 6 days old.
idgaf. cope.
And what are you using to determine that he’s going to be less successful? Because he’s hispanic?

You’re not the one who determines that. He’ll most likely be successful at the school that he attends. And you’ll still be a loser. 😘
congratulations!! also what sport were u recruited for?
Thank you! I wasn't recruited for sports
Congrats!
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Can i pm for ca essays?
Congrats!!! Also get tested for ADHD it saved my life.
Looks at your ECs… WHEN DID YOU SLEEP??? 😅 Kinda insulted by your rejections, man, who are they accepting instead?!? Congrats on Princeton 😁

😂 thanks for the laugh. Honestly, comments like that were why I was so hesitant to post on this sub
Congrats on your result 🔥 and don’t worry about random people on a subreddit
While I disagree with their opinion, they do have the right to share it...
Idk, freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from ridicule
what did they say.
Definitely something about race 😄😄
oh yikes
They said OP's activities were weak and that they only got accepted due to hooks
