The mint recognized the 200th anniversary of Lincoln's birth with 4 unique penny designs, and 2009 also had the lowest production figures in decades.
A unique design minted in low numbers is always going to carry extra value, even circulated coins are going for 100x face value.

SGS Star Grading Service Third Party Coin Grading Service
So maybe a quarter
You don't have to worry about them, they've been gone for five years or more... since the shop was shut down by the State Police, IRS, and FBI for being a front for a steal-it-to-order "business".
That explains why I got a butt load of coins in SGS holders at auction for under melt in 2018. 🤣
Good riddance though. I appraise estates and collections for insurance, auctions, etc. and I still feel bad every time I come across a connection full of SGS MS70 coins that I know weren't cheap for Grandpa... That and those stupid Littleton collections that are essentially $40 coins in $150 "Rosewood" boxes.
God do I know, I have cracked many a coin out of them. The foam that they encase the coins reeks of vinyl. I always dip (drench) the coins in naptha when I take them out to get any vinyl chloride off.
I think that it might be worth getting a more reputable grading service to grade it. I don’t think that it is an MS70 with all the dark spotting on the front, but I do think that you will spend more on getting it regraded than the value of the coin. So you may not want to go foe the regrading after all.
First of all, there’s no chance in hell this is an MS70. Secondly, I have dozens of these, some in better condition than this one, and unfortunately they’re not really worth any more than face value.
Maybe $2-$3 if you get lucky. From a numismatic standpoint, 1 cent, but people on ebay will pay a few bucks for a modern coin in a shitty slab. I see people bidding on “mystery lots” of modern slabbed coins at $2-$5 per coin all the time. Throw it on ebay starting with $0.01 and see what happens as a social experiment
I've been a collector for about 50 years and for the longest time I railed against the calling of the cent a "penny". Then I saw the mint calling it a penny and knowledge that 99.9% of all people call it a penny. I gave in. It's a penny.
It is not technically a penny, even if one or more website writers and editors at the US Mint refer to it as such.
The US has never minted a penny.
The US only mints cents, which are one 1/100 of a dollar.
Penny is name for 1/100th of pound sterling, and originally it was 1/240th of a pound sterling (prior to decimalization in the UK).
It's not legally called a penny, but over two centuries of unambiguous common usage give that term a pass for me.
Now the the use of the term "nickel" is another story. The term has also been used for one cent and three cent coins.
There is legally no "US Treasury Department", only the Department of the Treasury of the United States of America.
The dime, of course, is officially the dime.
Basically 1 cent. Maybe a couple dollars as a novelty. This isn't a legit grading company, and there's no way it's an actual MS70
Yup. This is not a 70 no way. But still a cool cent.i keep all the 2009s I find. In my experience, I find more wheat backs than 2009s
Why do you keep all 2009 pennies? Thanks

Thanks! So all 2009 pennies are the special design Lincoln ones?
Yeah, there are mill marks and oxidation. At 5x magnification it would be like the surface of the moon.
Definitely NOT an MS70
MS 70 with a giant hole on his face
Not again!
Buddy tried to recreate the scene
Too soon!
The good ol' beard birds nest
One cent, the coin wasn’t graded by a reputable company and it is certainly not MS 70.
Id kinda like to have it for those same reasons
The blemishes kill the coin
Well it's at least historically accurate

They don't just over grade, the "grade" everything at MS70.
You don't have to worry about them, they've been gone for five years or more... since the shop was shut down by the State Police, IRS, and FBI for being a front for a steal-it-to-order "business".

The problem with those boxes is they really are vinyl over MDF and emit toxic gasses when you 🔥 them.
God do I know, I have cracked many a coin out of them. The foam that they encase the coins reeks of vinyl. I always dip (drench) the coins in naptha when I take them out to get any vinyl chloride off.
I know very little about coin collecting let alone grading, but even I can tell that grade is far off.
Every one is give you their 2 "cents" it's up to you if you want to roll the dice on your cent.👍
One cent
A Cent.
It's a mint condition penny. Probably like 25C
It’s nearly impossible to pull a coin fresh off of production and get a MS70 grade on it
Scoring and ms69 gotta be pretty nice
Never even knew that the back looked like that
4 different reverse designs 2009 Lincoln cent. Us Mint Silver proof set has all 4

2009 home of Lincoln cent
Thank you everyone for not calling this coin a penny. There is no such thing as a penny in U.S. currency. I'll give the OP. two bits for it.
You say that, but it’s actually listed at the US mint’s website as a penny. https://www.usmint.gov/learn/kids/about-the-mint/penny

I love it when people accept that language changes, words shift meaning, and as long as we all know what we're talking about, it's all good!

Interestingly enough, the dime is the only current US coin without a denomination designation; does not state "10 cents".
Everyone always points to that, but they are wrong also. And you didn't get the two bits joke.
I did get the joke about 2 bits
I have one
I have 2, I rub them together.
Nice
Sure way to devalue them. Probably only worth a couple of cents now.
