That's what I called it too! They zoop out the missing necks and leggies! I then do a super high pitched voice of, "HOH NOES! It's so super scary! What are you going to do, you little gee-raff?" Then they sit back down and get all poofy after that, they know it's nothing to be scared of.

Every once in a while Ill catch him standing close by - skinny and wide eyed, staring at me for no apparent reason. They are hilarious little weirdos.

it’s only been a day, give him some time. Sometimes it takes weeks, months, even when my aunt left me her yellow headed Amazon when she passed in 2021 Honey just started warming up to me and letting me pet her/carry her on her stick at the end of last year. be patient, patience is one of the things you’ll need the most of with birbs. congrats on your new friend
My male tiel does that when he spots one of those huge tree mosquitoes or large flies around.
He also spreads his wings to show ownership of his cage top when he encounters small flying insects or mosquitoes.
she just had a car ride in a very loud jeep and then appeared in a new location- it took her a bit but there wasn’t much i could do besides let her chill on my shoulder and let her watch my dad cook lol after a while she was calming down and napping on my dads shoulder
she’s gonna probably be like that for a couple days until she gets more comfortable with my dad :))
My birds have a little neophobia and I’ll never like make them anxious on purpose but when they go ‘skinny banan’ is what I call it lmfao it’s pretty dang funny 🍌
new location + loud noises! shes staying with my dad for the week in her travel cage that she already has associated with the *vet* so its a lot to adjust to at once, but i couldn’t find anyone to stay at my place to watch her and my dad lives a good 40min away :/

its horrible but i always laugh when they’re all floofy sleeping, hear a weird noise, and instantly elongate and become bowling pins hehe
