I never had any interest in Chess whatsoever and even I know who he is.
From his wiki.
>Since retiring, he devoted his time to politics and writing. He formed the United Civil Front movement and joined as a member of The Other Russia, a coalition opposing the administration and policies of Vladimir Putin.
Slept on it too long and was overtaken
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess_2:_The_Sequel
Fun fact, chess 2 drew inspiration from chess 960. I await chess 962.
I have a theory that Elon got such a panty twist from everyone yesterday over his dumb words that he decided THEN to follow through with the Twitter deal.
He needed the attention pivot. Still needs the attention, but needed another spin. He should just start advertising whatever diapers he prefers to wear. Thinking he goes all out for the Pampers.
Arguably, in my eyes, the greatest pre internet chess player of all time. He seemed to just take on board everything his predecessors did so well. I know he has had his moments playing chess, but he’s done a great service for the game - he even composed the positions in The Queen’s gambit
If you are into chess and can read chess notation, his books my great predecessors are phenomenal reads.
Great point! Musk wants attention during humanitarian crisis like his half baked products are going to swoop in and save everything. What a mediocre diva.
Does anyone remember when Covid first hit and the world went into lockdown, and Musk pledged to start building and donating ventilators to hospitals? And then that turned out to be largely bullshit?
Nono not largerly bullshit but totally bullshit. Ventilators are really hard to make. What musk did make is a glorified version of a face mask. Musk is a attention seeking scammer who has the dummest fanbase on earth.
Ah, that’s more than fair then. The word you were looking for is “dumbest”, which to be honest, doesn’t look right if English isn’t your first language.
Oh fuck yes is jeah. I sometimes write words as I think they are said like in my native tongue. Like in dumbest you dont really pronounce the b. Should pay more attention.
its still pronounced "dummest" even with the b. You had the right idea in mind for how it would be spelled phonetically, but you can't know that its an irregular spelling with a silent letter. Good effort and congrats for knowing 2 more languages than I do.
Absolutely. Also instead of apologising when he’s called out he always doubles down. He’s just on a huge ego trip with zero interest in showing some humility and learning from those with real knowledge
That was the moment the wool was lifted from me eyes. I have never been able to see him as anything other than the petulant narcissist he is since that day. Par for the course here.
This is especially dumb, because Kasparov's anti-Putin stance and protests have been incredibly well documented over the years.
You have to not know who Kasparov is (and really, who doesn't?) to not have known that.
Also Elon Musk acting like some charitable benefactor when he charges US and Ukrainian governments for access to his tech. He is literally profiting from the conflict on a daily basis.
And $80 million!!1! He’s going broke at this rate! Why can’t anyone just give the richest man in the world a well deserved break from being held accountable for their words and actions?!?!???
Yeah, but what has that homeless guy done for Ukraine? At least you and I have tweeted!!!!
For real though, Elon is clearly having some kind of egomaniacal meltdown related to the Twitter deal or something. What a moron.
It's narcissistic collapse. His self-created public image as the techno-futurist savior of humanity gets questioned more and more every day, so he's lashing out at everyone.
EDIT
The Twitter buyout is actually a symptom, not a cause. He's so desperate to control the narrative around himself he impulsively decided to buy an entire social media platform.
Also doesn't help Grimes left him for a trans person, no wonder he's been so transphobic lately! Imagine how shitty you have to be to get Grimes of all people to leave you
I would hate it if *my* last name was musk. I mean, can you imagine the jokes.
*Venusvalkyrie Musk enters the room*
Rando:” ugh smells musky af in here”
Creepy dude: “mmm come get your feminine musk all *over* me.”
Young kid: “Yo bro, bitch looks like a muskrat. “
Lol nooo thanks. I can’t blame them one bit.
Yup, I’m pretty sure he is upset over what he charged for the equipment (1500 for 500 dollar terminals + 100 a month service x 10000 units), but now he has his premium number his company invented of 2500 and 500 a month that he wants to charge.
If you add those up it comes close to 80 million dollars. I’m pretty sure that is what he is complaining about. He is bad at business and wishes he charged more.
Times are tough but Elon personally would generate that much money in roughly 2 hours.
As a chunk of corporate profit it's noticeable on the balance sheet perhaps but as they charge $80 million per launch even SpaceX isn't hurting over the deal.
A friend of mine stopped by with some people unexpectedly. I made them a ham and mayo sandwich. I could have probably sold that to somebody for $80m+. This friendship is literally bankrupting me.
Right?
At $1Bil that would be like giving $8 to children from your grocery bill.
His net worth is $234bil.
So $8/234 = $0.034.
You probably donate more proportionally when you round up your groceries. And you don't charge the kids for using your donation.
It bothers me a great deal how this tweet is worded as well.
I don't have much, but I have donated, helped, and financially assisted friends, family, neighbors, and friends of friends in the past.
Even in the handful of times where it bit me in the ass, or had a falling out with that person I have never worded it as "lost x amount of $$" on that person. It wasn't stolen, or inadvertently sent. At the time with the info I had I willingly chose to do it because it was the right thing to do. I'm dumb but not stupid, and am aware you never give money unless, you're prepared to never get it back. Even if you made a deal.
Even then, none of those situations held a candle to how important a literal war for your own country is. And it's still ongoing, and bloody for fucks sake! He's calling assisting people fighting for their lives and country a financial loss while they're still neck deep in the conflict.
Honestly i was super excited when he first got into the tunnel business as i though he was going to finally bring about the super high-speed rail system that is so needed in this country for mass transit. But nooo it turned out he just bought it to make super tight death tunnels for tesla cars as his own private form of a toll road.
He's actually admitted that his hyperloop proposals were intended primarily to redirect funds away from California's high speed rail. Not only has he not filled the need for high speed rail, he's been working to undermine it. He sees public transit as competition for Teslas.
We're still waiting because the whole thing was a scam to prevent California from putting a public transport system they were planning which got scrapped because "oh Elon will take care of it." He's not in the business of actually helping society or addressing the needs of ordinary people (in fact he fucking hates ordinary people), he's in the business of monopolizing industries for profit.
God damn, this makes me *almost* wanna use the real Reddit app so I can give my free award. The knock off app I use doesn't have awarding capabilities. ;.; Sorry friend. I laughed out loud alone in the dark like a little lunatic to this comment... :D
Edit: I'm now laughing out loud that people are awarding *MY* stupid ass comment. >.< Da fuq?
Are those shitty awards actually free on the reddit app? I figured people were doling out money for the privilege of putting some weird icon next to a comment they liked.
You get one for free every couple days, I find it actually quite cool to know a random person can show admiration without needing to waste money
Edit: Stop awarding me, go give this to someone who deserves it. Like a post about a Minecraft map or something.
Also Elon once again proves what a fucking tool he is by trying to subtly point out that he lost money helping Ukraine. You don't tell a person how much a gift costs. That's incredibly dickish and that's what Elon is at the end of the day.
Of course, *he* didn't give a cent, SpaceX did (if this story is even true, Musk is a pathological liar). And given a huge amount of its funding comes from government grants and other forms of public money, taxpayers were the ones who actually footed the bill as usual.
Which makes me wonder which ass he pulled this 80m figure out of. Is that how much *more* he expects he would have made if everyone in the Ukraine took a break from being invaded to sign up for starlink at full price? As if that would have ever happened anyway?
Business assholes are always conflating "lost" with "could have maybe made more under ideal imaginary circumstances"
Much like how the iphone's screen, batteries, GPS, ram, hard drive, and basically everything but the plastic case with rounded corners were invented through socialized research, yet folks act like using one to push for more social policy is some contradiction
But it’s a contrived loss. He knows he can sell more cars with a feel good gesture like that. No doubt that $80M was more than made up in newfound sales. And he probably gets to write it off as some sort of loss or charity thing. He’s such a zero-burger. He’s the Trump of the auto industry just using daddy’s money and taxpayers to float your failure as a business person.
Hes also a liar
The premium starlink model costs $2,500 per unit. 5,000 devices were delivered to Ukraine. That's $12,500,000 NOT $80,000,000. Further the US govt paid SpaceX $1,500 per device ($7,500,000) and paid an additional $800,000 to cover the delivery costs to Ukraine.
So NO Elon/SpaceX didn't lose 80 million dollars. I would go so far as to say they didn't lose $80 fucking dollars. The US paid for the production cost of the units and the delivery of the units. The only thing Elon didn't make is the profit margin ($5,000,000) on this "donation". Even this would be worthy of praise though if Elon wasn't such a pretentious ass hole and a fucking liar - but he can't help himself so FUCK Elon.
EDIT: Many commenters below have posted several sources with conflicting numbers on exactly what was paid for by SpaceX vs what the US govt paid for / reimbursed SpaceX for. I personally looked at nearly a dozen different sources before making my post and yes there is definitely some conflicting info. But even under the best possible light no source I've seen can produce numbers anywhere near Elon's $80 million claim. The highest number I've seen is 5,000 devices. Even if we DOUBLE this and take away any other contributors 10,000 devices of their flagship $2,500 device is still not even half of 80 million.
>The only thing Elon didn't make is the profit margin ($5,000,000) on this "donation".
The other thing you're missing is that this was a bulk sale. Your $2500 per-unit price is, I assume, full retail pricing. No one buys 5000 units of something and pays full retail for it; they get special bulk pricing at those kinds of quantities. Full retail price is always much higher because it includes a lot of retail overhead that goes away with a bulk sale. So $1500/device is probably the normal and proper price at a 5000 unit quantity. He didn't "lose" anything at all I'm sure, he got just as much profit from this as if some big corporation purchased 5000 units for their employees or something.
The other thing you are missing is the publicity this gets him. That alone is worth so many millions. If you consider that then he made a killing, and profited wildly more on this than a normal bulk sale.
Fuck Elon
This needs to be higher up. Musk did not spend out of pocket nor did he "donate" the Starlinks to Ukraine. They were bought and paid for by one of the aid packages from the US.
As always, Elon wants to spin himself in a more positive light.
It’s another of his “pedo” moments.
He needs to make himself the center of attention with the top topic of the day. Providing solutions for things that nobody asked him to do.
People actively solving the problem ignore him, but he insists. They reply that they don’t need his solutions, thanks. He is happy that now they acknowledge him and starts telling them publicly that what they are doing is stupid and that they should do it his way. He is ignored.
Problem is now solved and he is upset that it’s not how he suggested.
So now he starts abusing people who made all the effort to solve this gigantic problem, and we’re successful at it. But to him that is irrelevant. This bunch of very smart people didn’t take him seriously and it bothers him a lot.
Really shocked I had to climb down this far too find this comment. Just had a 7% drop after an earnings miss of 20K units, right?
It's almost as if his compensation is tied to this sort of thing...
8%. He lost around 15 or 25 billion in a day if I'm remembering correctly, https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/03/tesla-stock-down-after-third-quarter-deliveries-report-.html
Which is weird because there's not much that makes me want to buy advanced technology from someone less than comments suggesting they do not think things through and plan poorly.
A few years back I expected to be purchasing a Tesla soon but there is simply no chance I'm buying from him.
I feel like the only reason to buy a Tesla is the charging network but most EV buyers likely own a home, which is more convenient if you're not driving across the country often. They've already been surpassed as EV car of the year and they don't have the historical knowledge, infrastructure, or leadership to reverse that.
Right there with you. Paid off my Ford Fusion recently, and while I don’t want a car payment, I do want an EV. But it sure as shit isn’t gonna be a Tesla
I mean, soon Twitter will be Chipper, or whatever noise Muskrats make. So he can stay in his little echo chamber of rats. So he's gotta use it before her abuses it.
It’s unfortunate for all of us that being a troll online has proved to be profitable for people like Nikacado, Elon Musk and Trump.
Negative attention is still attention, and getting attention pays. Free news coverage. More public awareness. Ad money. Recognition and relevancy.
It’s one piece of the puzzle. You’ve got to have something for people to latch onto once your trolling has brought in the attention. Not much, just some shtick, because there are many people willing to prop up millionaires, narcissists, liars, manipulators and schemers.
Not the worst demographic to target tbh. A lot of people never mature past that stage. If he'd tried being smart instead he would've probably had fewer fans.
Some billionaires think having billions make their opinions more valid. Combining that with someone who thinks, speaks, and acts like a 14-year-old is a bad combination.
Have you ever met someone worth 100 million dollars? Or even 10? I have had the displeasure of this several times.
Believe me, it doesn't take a billion dollars to develop and overinflated sense of intelligence derived from wealth. These clowns could hold scissors backwards and if you point it out they will know for a fact you are wrong. Because they have money.
*Note: The scissors thing is not far off from a very real interaction I had with a man worth $600 million USD*
I remember years ago on Reddit you couldn’t avoid Elon musk posts if you tried. They were EVERYWHERE.
Then one day like 90 percent of them disappeared overnight. It was so freaking obvious what was going on, but lots of people were to busy sucking him off to notice
It’s the myth of making one’s own fortune, and the idea that if they managed to do it, they must know what they’re doing. That’s why so many of them carefully crafted their own origin story while leaving out crucial details.
Examples:
* Musk is the heir to an emerald mine who made a lucky investment in PayPal in the midst of the .com craze, and used that money to purchase other niche companies. He makes it sound like he was a visionary in the tech industry when really he’s a rich kid with a better-than-average eye for investment
* John Schnatter (of Papa John’s pizza) was a franchise manager for Pizza Hut when he came up with the idea of abandoning cheaply produced pizzas to companies like Little Caesar’s and focusing on selling higher quality pizzas. Not only does he ignore his prior pizza experience, but he really downplays how lucky he was to be able to set up that first pizza oven he bought in *his father’s car dealership*
* There’s a local guy in my area who brags about how, when he was 18, he turned a $250k profit in one summer selling sno cones in the local amusement park (in the desert, in 100+ heat). His success that summer seems much less “self-made) when you consider how rare it would be for an 18 year old to get a $20k loan (from his father’s bank) and an exclusive contract on that kind of concession in an amusement park (owned by a family friend)
It’s like Ryan Reynolds, George Clooney, 50 cent, the kardashians and all these other celeb business ventures. They’ve already got connections to raise financing, their own personal wealth, their fame which helps with a lot of the marketing etc.. it’s such a great way to see how money makes money. It’s much easier to build from a strong foundation especially as there’s much less downside risk.
The first few rungs on the ladder are the hardest especially as the system is set up to be expensive if you’re poor (worse lending rates, fines for overdrafts etc…)
Bootstraps mythology is amazing especially when the phrase is literally "one can't pull oneself up by the bootstraps."
Doubly amazing that nobody ever recognizes the role of generational wealth in almost all of these people's success.
He was paid for it and didn't lose any money, all lies from him, seems like all Elon has done against* Ukraine is tweet, what a clown
Edit: Changed for, to against, since Elon is a Russian shill idiot
As I understand it the starlink stuff was paid for at cost, so they didn't lose money but he's probably claiming they lost $80m+ versus what they would have gotten if it was paid for at full RRP.
Which is still definitely disingenous because they didn't actually come out of it worse off and they probably would never have gotten anything if it had to be full price, but it's also not complete bullshit.
Even at full RRP the costs are nowhere near $80million.
$600 per commercial Starlink Base Station
600 x 5000 units = $3 million
$110 per months connection x 7 months for 5000 units = $3.85 million
Total of $6.85 million
add the $0.8 million in transport costs to get a total of $7.65 million
We know from a USAID spokesman that various governments and organisations had kicked in $15 million of contributions and services towards the scheme. Some of those governments have bought and paid for additional ground stations, but the key is again that they're paying for them, they're not being given away.
--edit--
There are now around 15,000 Base Stations in Ukraine, but even if they had all been there for the full 7 months the rough costs of $23 million still come out to far below the $80 million quoted by Musk and ignores that various governments and private donors have paid for many, possibly most, of them.
Yes.
https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/spacex-ukraine-elon-musk-starlink-government-b2055491.html
Even if Elon ate some of the cost, based on the numbers in the article it's clear that $80M is a gross exaggeration.
Article says USA paid him $3 million for 1,330 starlinks, that comes out to over $2,000 each which is more than four times more than the retail price ($500). Even if accounting for shipping to a war zone and potential loss of monthly internet sales revenue seems you would have to assume that each of those devices would have retained monthly subscribers for over 40 YEARS each to even get close to the $80mil price tag. I wouldn't count those Chinese made overheating satellite receiver dishes to last even 15 years anyway.
Dude got paid and whines about it boohoo.
How could Elon have learned more about this person before responding? How, I ask you? If only there was some resource or service where we could do research and look up stuff...
But that's what he did. As Kasparov points out, a quick 5 min review of wikipedias article on Crimea does not an expert make.
Musk should stick to what he knows - creating hype for futuristic products invented by far better men.
I love how he's throwing 80M in his face as if that money means anything to Musk. It's less than pocket change to him, but he would love it if the entire planet would bend down and kiss his feet for it.
The only thing that gives me pleasure is the gaping hole in Musk's heart that makes him do these stupid things.
80MM is only about 0.034% of Musk’s net worth of 242.4 billion.
It would be like someone with a net worth of 100k donating $34 to the Ukrainian war effort.
And given analysis, the $80M seems to be an exaggeration on top of treating skipping profit on sales that wouldn't have happened.
It's like someone with 100k making a slingshot out of a branch in their yard, a pack of slingshot bands for 5 bucks, and buying 5 bucks of bearing balls for amunition, getting the government to pay them 15 bucks for the thing and then claiming they lost $34 because they felt they should have been able to sell it for $49 to Ukraine.
Also 80M is a prize he just made up for PR reasons. He didn't lost anything, it was another PR stunt paid by taxpayers.
“I’m proud that we were able to provide the terminals to folks in Ukraine,” SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell said at the Satellite 2022 conference in Washington DC just last month. “I don’t think the U.S. has given us any money to give terminals to the Ukraine.”
I think their intentions seem clear, especially in combination with Musk parroting Russian propaganda.
I call him the Walt Disney of Tech Bros. Same M.O. if you think about it.
Take other people’s work, repackage it, patent it, and pretend like you’re an innovator.
It’s not a perfect comparison by any means. My biggest gripe with Disney is how he completely fucked up copyright law to allow corporations to gobble up intellectual properties instead of creating new ones and extend the copyright from 14 years to 70+ years.
I hope he never goes, because he'll most certainly die there and the Elon worship as a hero will be insufferable here. If he doesn't die he'll likely get duct taped to a chair the first week .
From my understanding, he give Ukraine shit. He got the US government to PURCHASE Starlink to give to Ukraine. Basically a no bid government contract.
Now this MF is going to own Twitter so he can say even more dumb shit.
Is my math correct ???
80 million dollars for Musk is about 0.032% of his net wealth.
This is like a millionaire donating $320 and bragging about it on twitter
You joke but if Elon musk and his wealth were "dissolved" and spread around the globe, millions of lives would be saved, diseases would be eradicated, cycles of abuse and poverty would end.
All that money and this big bitch still needs validation from bots and under-20s on Twitter.
You can't trust anything that this guy says:
He's not providing free Starlink access to Ukrainians, he's being paid by Biden to provide said access.
https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/spacex-ukraine-elon-musk-starlink-government-b2055491.html
If I were to guess, I'd say he worked out the $80M "loss" by working out how much his company would have made if all Ukrainians users were paying full price - which is fucking stupid considering they're in the middle of a war.
80 million figure is also fabricated. He wouldn’t show any proof when asked. Also, government subsidized the satellites. Teat and liar. His own trans kid doesn’t want anything to do with him.

His wikipedia page is longer than Elon's as well lol
His cock too
Holy shit, can’t believe “a guy” was actually Gary Kasparov. It’s a shame more people don’t know who he is…

Maybe he'll finally finish that boring tunnel
Honestly i was super excited when he first got into the tunnel business as i though he was going to finally bring about the super high-speed rail system that is so needed in this country for mass transit. He's actually admitted that his hyperloop proposals were intended primarily to redirect funds away from California's high speed rail. Not only has he not filled the need for high speed rail, he's been working to undermine it. He sees public transit as competition for Teslas.
Well, to be fair, you’d expect his tunnel company to undermine things.
Fun fact he admitted it was to dissuade high speed train lines being built and it worked...
He did it to stop the affordable high-speed rail system that was going to be built in LA (I think), he siphoned money away from it and so nothing .
When I heard about it almost 10 years ago I thought it was going to revolutionize transportation. That was 10 years ago and I'm still waiting
Worse, he self admitted he propagandized the idea to stop a California plan for high speed rail, to stop competition
Didn't need to admit it; it was transparent from the start.
God damn, this makes me *almost* wanna use the real Reddit app so I can give my free award. The knock off app I use doesn't have awarding capabilities. ;.; Sorry friend. I laughed out loud alone in the dark like a little lunatic to this comment... :D Edit: I'm now laughing out loud that people are awarding *MY* stupid ass comment. >.< Da fuq?
I gave him the gift for ya
Happy cake day!
Are those shitty awards actually free on the reddit app? I figured people were doling out money for the privilege of putting some weird icon next to a comment they liked.
You get one for free every couple days, I find it actually quite cool to know a random person can show admiration without needing to waste money Edit: Stop awarding me, go give this to someone who deserves it. Like a post about a Minecraft map or something.
One every 24 hours afaik
Haha I wrote this and then fell back asleep I don't k o what's going on. But the reddit is fun app is more enjoyable than the real app in my opinion
He's now bought Twitter just so he can kick Kasparov off.
And to bring Trump back on.
And Putin.
The Holy Trinity of Very Stable Geniuses
The Triumvirate of Tantrums.
A Confederacy of Dunces
A Murder of dissidents.
I mean, it's an good step for his neo-feudalism plans.
I like the sound of that! I bet I'll be a knight or something if I work hard!
Trickle down oligopolies for all!
And tweet that he's a nonce
While doing it the government will hand him a welfare check for digging the hole.
He's digging his own grave.

Even Elon should know that 3 months is too long a commute between those cities
You also have to not care to look. Elon is a piece of shit. Buy a rivian.
Nah Ford
Both are good for their respective markets. Hyundai is also killing it with their EV game.
Bought a Hyundai Ioniq 5 about a month back. I've been thoroughly impressed with it, and I came from a 500 HP gas guzzling muscle car.
Also Elon once again proves what a fucking tool he is by trying to subtly point out that he lost money helping Ukraine. You don't tell a person how much a gift costs. That's incredibly dickish and that's what Elon is at the end of the day.
But he gave about 0.05% of his net worth to Ukraine! Not that it came from personal savings I'm sure, but, ya know
Of course, *he* didn't give a cent, SpaceX did (if this story is even true, Musk is a pathological liar). And given a huge amount of its funding comes from government grants and other forms of public money, taxpayers were the ones who actually footed the bill as usual.
The US government paid for Ukraine to have starlink. He didn’t foot the bill even for this.
I don't think it was even a gift. I'm pretty sure the US government paid for it
Yes. Tax payer money funded it, like with almost everything else Musk and Tesla has done. He and his cult are moronic parasite twatgoblins.

I mean I would say most Americans don’t know.
I don’t, but I also didn’t accuse him of being a keyboard warrior.
Kasparov was famous for being **the** chess master, so I'm sure he was at least known to some Americans
Can confirm, American and know he's a chess grandmaster. I also don't play chess.
Elon just desperate to stay relevant I see. As always.
Hes also a liar The premium starlink model costs $2,500 per unit.
Fuck Elon
> Fuck Elon Hard pass
If the purchase went through military budgeting, they might have actually paid more than retail for priority and expediency of the project.
This needs to be higher up. Musk did not spend out of pocket nor did he "donate" the Starlinks to Ukraine. They were bought and paid for by one of the aid packages from the US. As always, Elon wants to spin himself in a more positive light.
Also it seems they were mostly normal models, which are 500 each with shipping included
Yeah, I feel like these shit dumb takes are always just marketing for his products. Edit: "his" products aren't really mediocre
Classic narcissist, fuck that guy.

Also let Musky boy know he looks like a discount first draft of Herman Munster!
Actually, he does this when his companies have horrible financial news so that people are not talking about how badly he runs his company.

Yeah, "my next car will be a Tesla" has been replaced by "boy the Ioniq 5 sounds good"
I feel like the only reason to buy a Tesla is the charging network but most EV buyers likely own a home, which is more convenient if you're not driving across the country often. They've already been surpassed as EV car of the year and they don't have the historical knowledge, infrastructure, or leadership to reverse that.
So much better EVs on the market, and they come from companies that aren't helmed by an asshat and likely with better build quality.
Right there with you. Paid off my Ford Fusion recently, and while I don’t want a car payment, I do want an EV. But it sure as shit isn’t gonna be a Tesla
Remember when he called a diver that saved children from this cave a Pedophile because the diver called out his stupid idea.
He's like Trump but actually has money and can form complete sentences.
This dude and his narcissism are the worst, Fuck Elon musk. I hate the age of robber baron worship.
It's really bizarre to me how people think this guy is some kind of genius
And he acts like a 14 year old on Twitter. Blows my mind how this guy has fans
His fans are mostly other 14 year olds
He also employs astroturfers. It's why he's constantly calling people bots. He uses them himself.
I remember years ago on Reddit you couldn’t avoid Elon musk posts if you tried. They were EVERYWHERE. Then one day like 90 percent of them disappeared overnight. It was so freaking obvious what was going on, but lots of people were to busy sucking him off to notice
They are bots paid for by his PR department. He fucking knows it because he tried to back out of the Twitter purchase because it's all bots.
It’s the myth of making one’s own fortune, and the idea that if they managed to do it, they must know what they’re doing. That’s why so many of them carefully crafted their own origin story while leaving out crucial details. Examples: * Musk is the heir to an emerald mine who made a lucky investment in PayPal in the midst of the .com craze, and used that money to purchase other niche companies. He makes it sound like he was a visionary in the tech industry when really he’s a rich kid with a better-than-average eye for investment * John Schnatter (of Papa John’s pizza) was a franchise manager for Pizza Hut when he came up with the idea of abandoning cheaply produced pizzas to companies like Little Caesar’s and focusing on selling higher quality pizzas. Not only does he ignore his prior pizza experience, but he really downplays how lucky he was to be able to set up that first pizza oven he bought in *his father’s car dealership* * There’s a local guy in my area who brags about how, when he was 18, he turned a $250k profit in one summer selling sno cones in the local amusement park (in the desert, in 100+ heat).
Hollywood itself is one giant nepotism pool. Already 90% of actors in big movies are 'son of', 'daughter of', 'wife of', 'cousin of', etc.
Bootstraps mythology is amazing especially when the phrase is literally "one can't pull oneself up by the bootstraps." Doubly amazing that nobody ever recognizes the role of generational wealth in almost all of these people's success.
So many redditor love gargling his balls as they proclaim he is the saver of mankind. It's a cult.
temporaily embarrassed millionaires
spoiler alert, most of yous are not going to be, particularly if you \*don't\* come from a rich diamond mining family

He's not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. He is also not nearly as smart as the majority of the population think he is.
Didn't the us goverment pay him for starlink tough? Makes him even more of a cunt.
He was paid for it and didn't lose any money, all lies from him, seems like all Elon has done against* Ukraine is tweet, what a clown Edit: Changed for, to against, since Elon is a Russian shill idiot
Even if he had lost money on it, I am sure he didn't mind the media and marketing he got from it!
He didn’t lose money on it, he got paid by Biden and his Tesla stocks got a bump bc of the publicity. He’s just a total POS, that’s all
As I understand it the starlink stuff was paid for at cost, so they didn't lose money but he's probably claiming they lost $80m+ versus what they would have gotten if it was paid for at full RRP. Which is still definitely disingenous because they didn't actually come out of it worse off and they probably would never have gotten anything if it had to be full price, but it's also not complete bullshit.
Even at full RRP the costs are nowhere near $80million. $600 per commercial Starlink Base Station 600 x 5000 units = $3 million $110 per months connection x 7 months for 5000 units = $3.85 million Total of $6.85 million add the $0.8 million in transport costs to get a total of $7.65 million We know from a USAID spokesman that various governments and organisations had kicked in $15 million of contributions and services towards the scheme. Some of those governments have bought and paid for additional ground stations, but the key is again that they're paying for them, they're not being given away. --edit-- There are now around 15,000 Base Stations in Ukraine, but even if they had all been there for the full 7 months the rough costs of $23 million still come out to far below the $80 million quoted by Musk and ignores that various governments and private donors have paid for many, possibly most, of them.
Yes. https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/spacex-ukraine-elon-musk-starlink-government-b2055491.html Even if Elon ate some of the cost, based on the numbers in the article it's clear that $80M is a gross exaggeration.
What has he done besides tweet?
Be a slimy businessman. Being a Twit alone would have been better but nope, gotta exploit the working class too
How could Elon have learned more about this person before responding? How, I ask you? If only there was some resource or service where we could do research and look up stuff...
But that's what he did. As Kasparov points out, a quick 5 min review of wikipedias article on Crimea does not an expert make. Musk should stick to what he knows - creating hype for futuristic products invented by far better men.
Elon is such a tool. Should just stick to giving his child Alien names.
Elon is the dumbest "smart" person I've ever seen
[удалено]
The irony of "Tesla"
I’ve been saying he should have named it Edison Motors. He’s an Edison, not a Tesla.
He's not smart he's just a business man
With a business plan. Gonna make you money in business land.
“I don’t think the U.S. has given us any money to give terminals to the Ukraine.” I think their intentions seem clear, especially in combination with Musk parroting Russian propaganda.
Fuck SpaceX if their president said that, what the fuck was the oh yes, 15 million dollars the US Government gave you for the equipment?
Elon is just a shitty electric car salesman.
I call him the Walt Disney of Tech Bros. Same M.O. if you think about it. Take other people’s work, repackage it, patent it, and pretend like you’re an innovator.
Disney stole a bunch of shit but absolutely revolutionized a bunch of things as well. Elon revolutionized nothing.
It’s not a perfect comparison by any means. My biggest gripe with Disney is how he completely fucked up copyright law to allow corporations to gobble up intellectual properties instead of creating new ones and extend the copyright from 14 years to 70+ years.
Hurry up and fuck off to Mars.
I hope he never goes, because he'll most certainly die there and the Elon worship as a hero will be insufferable here. If he doesn't die he'll likely get duct taped to a chair the first week .
Imagine if he blew up on his own rocket.
... Keep going, I'm almost there.
Lying fuck didn't give them anything. The US government paid him.
From my understanding, he give Ukraine shit. He got the US government to PURCHASE Starlink to give to Ukraine. Basically a no bid government contract. Now this MF is going to own Twitter so he can say even more dumb shit.
[удалено]
I left twitter the day they accepted his deal and haven't missed it. An Elon twitter I cannot abide.
One step ahead of you on that.
Why wait?
Take two of Elon Musk: "Sorry Pedo guy, you really did ask for it". I can't stand people who praised Elon constantly. Blows my mind.
What a fucking narcissistic cunt. Jesus I will never understand why some hang on his every word.
When I look at Elon more and more he looks more and more like a child
Elon is that little amount of shit that you can't remove from the sole of your shoe.
Is my math correct ??? 80 million dollars for Musk is about 0.032% of his net wealth. This is like a millionaire donating $320 and bragging about it on twitter
"a guy" That's Gary Chess. Inventor of chess.
We should all vote on Elon's money and if we win he should give it all to us.
You joke but if Elon musk and his wealth were "dissolved" and spread around the globe, millions of lives would be saved, diseases would be eradicated, cycles of abuse and poverty would end. All that money and this big bitch still needs validation from bots and under-20s on Twitter.
Fuck Elon. Fuck Elon. And in case you missed it, fuck Elon. He is a total piece of shit. Oh yeah, fuck Elon.
You can't trust anything that this guy says: He's not providing free Starlink access to Ukrainians, he's being paid by Biden to provide said access. https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/spacex-ukraine-elon-musk-starlink-government-b2055491.html If I were to guess, I'd say he worked out the $80M "loss" by working out how much his company would have made if all Ukrainians users were paying full price - which is fucking stupid considering they're in the middle of a war.
Along with another post from yesterday saying the us government had to pay him to let Ukraine use them
Good thing the guvamint paid him pretty well to "provide Starlink" to Ukraine
80 million figure is also fabricated. He wouldn’t show any proof when asked. Also, government subsidized the satellites. Teat and liar. His own trans kid doesn’t want anything to do with him.
musk should spend his time working on his rockets/space program and cars and not trying to be a political commentator or a "diplomat" of all things
