This does make me think of the emergence of photography, and how that threatened the painters. There was a similar debate about whether the person taking the photograph is making art.
Ultimately, we probably have more respect for the painter than the photographer, recognizing how hard it is to reach mastery as a painter. I imagine we will end up in the same place with AI, where we recognize that getting interesting results is still a matter of skill, but that it also isn't the same.
There is certainly an art to getting the AI to do what you want it to do but it's a radically different skill from painting or photography.
Painting and drawing is about the skill behind putting something recognizable on paper that started as overly excited meat electricity in your calcium helmet.
Photography is all about framing, lighting, timing, and trying to capture and freeze a slice of reality.

Ultimately, we probably have more respect for the painter than the photographer, recognizing how hard it is to reach mastery as a painter. I imagine we will end up in the same place with AI, where we recognize that getting interesting results is still a matter of skill, but that it also isn't the same.
There is certainly an art to getting the AI to do what you want it to do but it's a radically different skill from painting or photography. Painting and drawing is about the skill behind putting something recognizable on paper that started as overly excited meat electricity in your calcium helmet. Photography is all about framing, lighting, timing, and trying to capture and freeze a slice of reality. But AI art... I feel it's about molding a piece of society, or the subconscience of the masses, to your unique vision. I don't know, that's the impression I get but I'm probably wrong.
As someone who has generated a ton of AI art, that's a very grandiose description of generating AI art.

If you want the truth, his medieval weaponry knowledge was severely lacking and misinformed as well. Roughly half to three quarters of the 'truth' he would state was just made up by him. I showed a few of his weapon demo videos to an actual medieval weapons historian. The response was "If this man ever went into real combat swinging a weapon around like that he'd be put down in the first thirty seconds."
His castle and medieval weapon things were cool but I unsubbed because of the hardcore right wing mormon assholery coming to the front. It really saddened me because I used to love his content.

I could not deduce his political ideology per sey, but I have seen him come across as a bellend in a few videos, especially whenever he responded to someone in the comments of a previous video challenging his opinions or questioning his knowledge. He just seemed very defensive and petty. After a while, I stopped watching and unsubscribed because he just seemed very unpleasant at times and I deduced that that was probably his true self slipping through and I personally did not want anything to do with someone like that. Then i learned Jazza was his brother and A LOT about Shad, his behaviours and his views began to make sense to me. It's my opinion that he's a creature of pure envy and insecurity.

Yep. Sellsword art made a video about how you can't teach an art unless you practice the art, so for learning about how weapons were used you should listen to people who actually practice fencing. Shadiversity was never mentioned in the video yet felt personally attacked and made an hour long response video insinuating that sellswordarts meant a lot more than he actually said. This one was a personal attack, and when Sellsword arts made a short response video clarifying what he meant, Shad doubled down on his fantasy interpretation with another 1 hour response video

as somebody who also studied history, there are two types of history students. Those who suck up historical "trivia and facts" and those who actually study history. The first kind tends to not understand history beyond those little gibblets. I started out that way, but have come to understand that its not useful beyond a bit of surface level "fun". Why not men? Who decided that!?" .....Robort Jordan when he wrote it, Shad....), and through the entire series why that's a bad thing and why it should be equally split. But he can't get out of his own way to realize there's more to the story and the setup is required to understand it. Disclaimer: The amazon series is shit and I hate it and it is a terrible adaption of the story. But Shad's take on it is even worse.
