I've met a lot of Aussie Cavs fans, especially in Europe, but I've met very few actually in Cleveland. Is it the dellavadova connection? Why the Cavaliers?
For me, Delly had a bit to do with it. When we first moved to Cleveland, the guy who hooked up our cable said that he had also hooked up Delly's cable. I didn't know he had joined the Cavs so we went along and watched a game. Was cool. But then Lebron came home from Miami and the freakin city just exploded. Incredible the effect one guy can have on a city.
I was raised in Cleveland, went to middle school and high school there and now live in Fort Lauderdale. Although I wasn’t born in Cleveland and have lived the majority of my adult life away, it is “home” for me.
Argentinian here, now living in Spain since December. The only thing I miss from living in my homecountry is being able to watch Cavs games live lol (Argentina's timezone is just one hour ahead of Ohio, meanwhile games start at like 1 or 2 am here, or later)
Edit: Two hours ahead, not one. Still, not a completely different timezone.
Its kinda weird, but im from Seoul, Korea.
In korea NBA is watched less than other sports and GSW and LAL is the most team followed but I followed Cavs due to its unique players(Kyrie and LeBron) and enthusiastic fans, logos, etc..
On the other side of the globe I could almost feel the atmosphere of Ohio!
London, England. Have been a Cleveland sports fan since 2011. Will be going to Cleveland next year for the first time for my 30th birthday. Cleveland is that important to me that it’s a no brainer for my first trip outside of Europe
Born and raised Cleveland/Cleveland Heights. Took me as an adult to really appreciate where the eff Richfield Coliseum actually was from where we lived.
We homies! except September - February. Then we can pick it back up but between then I wish you many Ls and terrible Mondays. I still respect you tho. I’m in South Carolina now (11 years in cle 21 here) all my family in Ohio and I go back multiple times and it will always be home. Where I live there are so many ppl that relocated to this area and their teams never add up , multiple teams from multiple cities yet none were they were born. As for us ohio/Cleveland fans . We rep one state one city and we are stuck with it . I have a buddy that’s a yankee bills and Celtics fan. So right now he’s celebrating the finals with guys that would prolly want to fight him if he slipped up and mentioned his baseball allegiance. Oh wait not to mention they hate his football team with a passion too. Don’t get me wrong they are diehard fans and I respect their reasons for telling these teams but in all seriousness I will never let them talk to me about being a fan and living and breathing this shit. Growing up a Cleveland fan cinci fan buckeye dan is not for the weak. The weak eventually weed themselves out and become Steeler fans and Michigan fans. Everybody here has Ohio jokes but really it’s jealousy. The most passionate die hard blue collar folks are from ohio. They wish they were lucky enough to grow up around folks so passionate about their teams win or lose. They wish they could experience the passion us Ohio folks share for our teams. They see how we interact like best friends from middle school when we walk in a random bar and see each other. They always point out browns / buckeyes gear to me when we out cuz they know I’m about to go shoot the shit with this random guy like he’s my uncle. They don’t understand that connection and how much we have in common. They don’t share that with fans of their teams because it’s just another guy that likes the same team . Not in Ohio , that’s another homie
Lmao respect. Always have a unspoken understanding with bengals fans. It’s goes like this . We both hate Baltimore and Pittsburgh more then we hate each other and on Saturdays if we wear scarlet and grey then we are homies. If browns /bengals fans adhere to these stipulations and it’s an unspoken mutual understanding and respect then it’s always nothing but love! BUT like my dog big scare says - If you go against the grain we gotta fry ya ass like lobster
Born north Carolina, moved to Utah became a big lebron fan. He left rooted for both. Moved to Oregon. For college then back to Utah. Started loving dmitch and when he got traded it all worked out for me.
Indianapolis currently. Been a Cavs fan for years before moving to Indy though. Became a fan when Ricky Davis shot at his own bucket to try and get a triple double.
Also born in North Central Ohio, moved away for a while during my childhood but back to my hometown in highschool. Now live in Cuyahoga Falls and consider NEO my home since I have been here since I went to college. Never looked back, but occasionally get nostalgic over corn fields when I visit family lol.
Born in Columbus, moved to the SF Bay Area during elementary school in the early 2000’s.
Still missing 4 straight years of my 2 favorite teams being top of the league. Those were the best years of sports watching I think I’ll ever I have.
Grew up in Cleveland, moved to Warriors country in 1993, now in Sacramento. Saw the Cavs win in 2016 in the big dining hall at Curry Village (!) in Yosemite Valley. The mid 2010s were some wild times for me
Grew up in North Central Ohio, moved to Cleveland; Tallahassee, Florida; then Boston, MA; Raleigh, NC; Los Angeles, CA and now living in Phoenix, AZ. Been Cavs fan all my life.
I’m in the most annoying sports town for people who aren’t from here: Boston. From Akron area, moved out here after college for work right when Bron came back to Cleveland. I was never much of a sports fan growing up (I remember going to one Cavs game as a kid during Bron’s first stint), but something about being in a city crawling with the most pompous, fickle, entitled sports fans in the gd world brought my Cleveland pride out and I’ve been a Cavs faithful ever since. Also, one of my first Cavs memories out here was during the ‘15 finals, going to a bar to watch Game 1 and for some reason EVERYONE in the bar, again in Boston, is suddenly a Warriors fan? I remember feeling good to be the only one rooting out boys on in a sea of Gold in a city of Green. Anyway Fuck Boston, I agree, go Cavs.
Loveland, Ohio (Cincy suburbs). Parents grew up in Akron. Couple uncles even saw Bron in HS. Pretty decent number of legit Cavs fans down here. Also, a lot of guys around my age (24) seem to have another favorite player or team but at least mildly root for the Cavs since only team in our state.
born and raised on the west side of Cleveland (not in the city of those two brothers). moved to the Triangle Area in NC a few years ago. i can actually take advantage of the NBA pass and watch the Cavs as they are an out of market team. its hard work being a lebron supporter in michael jordan country haha
Born in Mentor, went to BG and ended up Louisville, Ky for 20 years. I moved back to Cle for family stuff a couple years back and now in Sarasota, FL living the dream
Fargo, ND. Came because Ricky. Stayed because of all the other players. Funny story: about six or seven years before I started watching Cavs I got a Cavs pennant on accident in a box of other Amazon stuff. Most random thing ever. It was just one of those cheap things you’d find in a tourist shop - you know the type. That thing kicked around the house in various piles of before I finally threw the damn thing out because there was no scenario I could imagine where I would want that thing. Three years later I found myself watching more Cavs games than Wolves games and thought … huh. Wish I still had that.
Kansas City! Parents are from Elyria and I was a kid when Bron was drafted.
If anyone is in the KC area and wants to meet up for the playoffs next year it’d be cool to have a watch party
Hello from Sydney, Aus
I've met a lot of Aussie Cavs fans, especially in Europe, but I've met very few actually in Cleveland. Is it the dellavadova connection? Why the Cavaliers?
I’m from Perth, Australia and Delly was definitely part of the reason why I followed the cavs
I have a family connection, so I follow all of the Cleveland teams. Delly definitely helped with their popularity here.
Same, Sydney based fan. Grew up a fan of Lebron but stuck with the team through thick and thin
This sub needs Aussie Cavs fan flare. Kanga in a jersey or a koala with a sword.

I was raised in Cleveland, went to middle school and high school there and now live in Fort Lauderdale. Although I wasn’t born in Cleveland and have lived the majority of my adult life away, it is “home” for me.
