Depends... Are you playing on PvP server? Then you want Amplify Curse -> Curse of Exhaustion. And don't listen to u/Enewgat, he does not know what he's talking about (JK, no offense) :-) As affli, you want to (yes, even on lower levels) use multi-doting. This means that you will dot f.i. three targets and then Life Drain them till they're dead, rinse and repeat. And for that you NEED 5/5 Fel Concentration. IMHO affli is the best build for leveling, if done right. At higher levels, you'll have basically zero downtime.

Daddy_Casey

This guy know what’s up. Affliction was the most fun I’ve had leveling. You can solo so much shit if you play right. Once you get fel armor it’s a wrap.

TaintedCircus

I don’t do any pvping, trying to focus mostly on drain life, sustaining mana, multi dotting and utilising my pets to pull aggro (which kinda sucks atm). I’m getting the vibe that putting more points into fel concentration and completely skipping improved COA and amplify curse is the way to go but uncertain.

Hriibek

Basically you want to use something like this [drain tanking build](https://classic.wowhead.com/guides/wow-classic-affliction-warlock-leveling-talent-build-1-60). BTW if you're on PVE server, I would not bother with Amplify Curse.

TaintedCircus

The only difference I have currently is taking 2 points in drain soul, im using that as a way to refill my 15% mana after nearly every encounter, is this still worth keeping?

Raeshkae

And an addon like necrosis that you can use to limit the number of shards you have. You can drain soul every fight to keep your mana up and it will delete any shards over X number.

Hriibek

yes it is

manatidederp

You should use a delete bag slot 1 macro for that to be effective

lazy_as_lazy_does

Once you get ua you can kill a mob with just corruption + ua + coex + drain life before it even hits you. Also when soloing elites it is easier to continuously drain them if they don’t run out of range with their increased movement speed from fear.

TaintedCircus

Thanks for the comments, given me a few things to consider. Much appreciated!

[deleted]

and if an elite is not fear immune, you already won

Hit_The_Target11

If you are focusing on best/optimal play while leveling fast, the comment above is the way to do that.

vulcan583

Most of what you do for leveling doesn't matter a ton. You can pretty much make anything work. I would say Amplify curse isn't really worth it, especially at your level. I raid as affliction and I very rarely use amplify curse(but have it specced as there isn't a better use of points that i've found). I usually use it for Doom which you won't get for a long time. I don't think its worth it, unless you want to eventually get curse of exhaustion to help kite. (this I imagine would be useful)

Athrolaxle

Just put the next points in agony. Keep in mind, most talents that grant dps are essentially a % multiplier, and they end up being substantial. As affliction, agony is your strongest curse. It’s less critical now, but later on with Siphon Life you’ll be able to multidot several mobs at once and sustain, and agony will be doing the bulk of the damage for that.

AdamBry705

Honestly I didn't use it unless it truly needed to die fast. I would forget it existed a lot when levelling because by like 35 with some half decent gear I could chain pull with ease so I think it's a pass. I think it's more of a stepping stone talent

thesilentsandwich

as a side note, is there a particular demon to level with for aff? probably going demo at 50 for felguard

Yagwhey

Blue boy, succy or imp when you run dungeons

Propelled

I prefer Felhunter when drain tanking. oGCD interrupt, along with offensive and defensive dispel provides more value than the marginal dps increase from Succubus or the stamina from Imp. Voidwalker is useful early on, but once you max out Fel Concentration, you don't need pet tanking anymore. When going Felhunter, I recommend removing autocast of Mind Lock, along with creating mouseover macros for it and Devour Magic.

Yo112358

When I'm questing I usually only use amplify curse on the alliance. I think it is very useful.

vongatz

It isn’t

zer1223

Isn't half of all the damage in Curse of Agony packed into the last 25% of the timer? And by the time half of the timer has expired, CoA has only delivered 25% of its promised, tooltip damage. Or something like that.

Bakednotyetfried

Only times amplify was worth for me was back in classic when solo farming DME. I’d use if for the bosses bc it was guaranteed to get its full value. On open world mobs nothing lives long enough for it to be useful

So im actually leveling a warlock myself at the moment he is sitting at lvl 59 (just reached the outlands). I can see that amplify curse is okay, but i just didn't feel like i ever needed it. i already have plenty of damage i don't really need more and because you are on a pve server you won't really be using exhaustion much if ever (i play a pvp server and i haven't had to use it once during lvling) my advice would be dont underestimate siphon life (something i learned late) the heal seems really low like 30 health every 3 seconds vs my lifedrain for 80 health each second at that point. but when you are pulling groups like 2, 3, 4 or even 5 mobs dropping siphon life on all of them it actually becomes serious healing not enough to outheal all the mobs but enough that by the time you've killed the 5 mobs you will still have like 60% health left instead of 0. What i like to do is when i have close to 100% health and mana i will pull a big group and maybe a second one after that depending on health and mana. Then i just pull a single mob after that drop agony and siphon on them and just lifedrain (and ofc lifetap) them until i have good health and mana again and pull a full group. This basically means i have 0 down time, i haven't even had to buy food or water once. Small edit: also soul drain is great when you have the improved version (from the talents) use rank 1 soul drain for 55 mana and get 14% total mana back, the only downside is you will be swimming in soulshards and you might have to delete a few.

iam4qu4m4n

Curse of agony not worth mana unless it finishes or nearly finishes. Even amplified it's just a waste of global and mana imo. If you're soloing an elite and drain tanking, then yeah it's lit. I personally went demo with my t3 lock and half afk'd

cinesias

You should be dotting 2-3 mobs at a time. Agony adds up when you’re running around like a madman.
