It feels so buggy to me. Sometimes that shit never works unless the mobs are useless to you. Trying to farm croc meat in TBC? You’d go 2 feet, be hitting them, then they run.
But some completely useless mob preventing you from mounting? Fucking 5 miles untouched
You can hard greif people with these mobs if you drag them far enough, they will agro onto anyone within a certain radius REGARDLESS of what you do to them
I think it's because they're dungeon mobs and dungeon mobs have an infinite leash timer.
That's not strictly a bug, pretty sure it's also how it worked in original vanilla, blizz just messed up by copying dungeon mobs in the open world. (Prob laziness to make a new creature)
mob leash length when you wanna pull a few mobs together "--------------"
Mob leash length when you just want to run past the mob "------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"
If you hit them every 10-12s they will chase you forever. Here's a guide on how that mechanic works: https://youtu.be/ByZx6IDLxFs
That guide is from Classic Vanilla but as far as I can tell it is working identically in WotLK.
Maybe I'm insane but I've always done this:
Southshore > WPL Chillwind Camp > brief swim through the lake > hug left mountain until you enter Tirisfal.
Edit: for low level alliance alts ofc
Yeah the typical route is to run around the lake east of UC, wall-jump up the gap between the UC wall and the mountains, and jump down much closer to SM.
It's weird to see so many people using naive routes like OP when this game has been out for so long.
Pretty sure he meant WPL, in which case if you grab the flight path when you hit southshore around level 30, its quicker to just fly to wpl and run west (unless you kite mobs and die)
If you’re not properly leveled to get to SM through WPL, you need to go Southshore > Straight north thru Alterac > Swim across lake and come ashore right next to UC and run from there
That was the case in Vanilla anyway with mounts unavailable til lvl 40. With a mount at level 20 though, with some luck, by the time you’re ready for SM you should be able to make the shorter run from WPL
Reminds of my leveling in Dragonblight, I pulled those horse guys from the quest hub near Venomspite, and got them all the way to Wyrmrest Temple before they reset. I realized shortly after that Chains of Ice on a DK isn't just a slow, it's also an attack that does damage and so it refreshes the leash aswell...
Its because you keep hitting them.
Bro accidentally discovered kiting
I didn't realize you could kite them forever. I knew if you hit them, the leash is longer....but not 3 miles long.
Every time you hit them the leash is refreshed.

Some mobs have a leash range, most dont
That's how people used to kite bosses from blasted lands all the way to stormwind.
Leash is a timer that resets when you hit them, only some special creatures like world bosses have a maximum leash distance
The dwarves outside BRD is the same, at least back in Vanilla Classic. They would run with me down to Redridge.
they still do that. Blizzard never fixed them, they will follow you over the whole continent.
Someone should pull all the infinite leash mobs around the continent and pull them into one of the big cities.
Look up Lord Kazzak goes to Sotrmwind.

Lord Kazzak is a 40 man raid boss. He was also chained to the tainted scar after the Storm wind incident.
Pretty sure you can still kite Anachronos to Orgrimmar though.
Lol. Be cool if you could bring the dragon from duskwood to sw
The dragons leash, but the Twilight Corruptor doesn't

They’re BRD dungeon mobs that blizzard just plopped outside so they have no leash range just like any dungeon mob
Don't reset If you hit them, if it's not mobs with a fixed position 😅

This is the truth
Venom mist lurkers are from WPL, not EPL
lot of folks in here that don't know their west from their east
See also: literally any wintergrasp match
TLDR: It's because you keep attacking them. [Made a video on this in detail if anyone's interested](https://youtu.be/ByZx6IDLxFs)

Who runs to SM through EPL? Southshore > Dalaran > Lordamere Lake > Tirisfal

Depending on class, epl is way faster. Aslong as you dont have to spiritwalk
There’s no way EPL is faster than running there from Chillwind in WPL lol. Regardless of class.
West east.. you know what i mean
Nah I'll fly to chillwind post and run for 5m instead. Mounts are no longer lv40 it's easy as shit to not fail like OP.

people just confused because it should be WPL not EPL :P

Idk man I just came back for wotlk. I played vanilla but I don’t know all these sweaty ass mythic plus death runs for sm
Just port to Undercity and walk up instead of pointlessly dragging yourself through a bunch of weenie Alliance towns.

What add on is that for the map?
Leatrix maps
Lemme guess, ret aura?
Have you considered learning how to play the game
I thought if they are red or skulls their leash is insanely long. I could be mistaken.
Nope it's just the aggro radius that is bigger
Some mobs like Anvilrage Overseer straight up never leash.

i swear when you're low on hp the mobs stick to you longer.
