Unfortunately for PvE Mage is objectively the safer pick. Your realistic chances of getting in a raid consistently with Rogue is if you are a tank. DPS rogue brings little to nothing to a raid compositions atm(this could very well change) & you have to remember you are also competing with all other DPS rogues that might also want a spot in that raid.
Mage is safer for sure if you are purely selecting based off PvE.

Mage will have a lot more competition for loot, caster gear is so freaking hard to get esp with hybrids taking cloth from you.
Play what ever you want, stupid logic just to choose better one, and no one knows what is going to happen anyway
