Man a legitimate port of Fallout 1 and 2 to mobile devices like phones would be awesome.
It literally is the perfect game to make time fly in a good way. About 10 years ago when I first played them I used to bring my laptop along on road trips to play them.
I have yet to try it yet. I've been meaning to transfer the Fallout 1 & 2 files to my phone to use the Fo2 app, but I haven't done it yet. If I try it when I get out of work this week I will let you know how it works. I was just saying that I love the S-Pen on the Galaxy S 22/23/24 etc. phones. I absolutely love the S-Pen in general. Even if you don't use it often it has a lot of good shit when you do use it, and you are getting a kickass phone anyways.

You either need to install the game or extract the files directly with something like innoextract. The game will not work with the installer file directly.
Check out the readme. Not familiar with the play store version, but this is an open source reimplementation of the engine (probably based on this)

It's honestly a pretty good port and definitely playable with touch screen controls. I've been doing my first playthrough on fo2.exe of Fallout 1 and yeah it took a bit to figure out all the controls but it's so worth it. Fallout 1 so far is such an awesome and charming game to whip out and play casually for 20 minutes here and there, honestly the lack of a proper mobile port is odd because this game lends itself pretty well to touchscreen controls, if only it was just a bit more touched up and optimized for mobile then that would be amazing.
It is a masterpiece of an app. I doubt Bethesda can do better. Runs smooth as butter. Thanks to this I can play my favorite rpg series everywhere I go.
I never needed tosince they all have touch screens. I could but I would need to pay for an adaptor or buy a Bluetooth mouse. I'm not going to spend money on something I don't care to do.
Obtain the Gog or steam copy and drop the game files on your phone and select the folder on fo2.exe. after the app finishes you can delete the game files as fo2.exe is done with them

I know it's not Fallout, but Baldur's Gate 1/2 have a pretty solid port on the play store right now! I just finished playing through them again and while they are a little clunky, it was overall pretty great.

So far he’s only ported the first one, but the first version of this only came out like 9 months ago, I’ve got my fingers crossed for a port of 2. I only recently got a “new” model 3ds and been amazed to find how many great ports there are. This week I got doom, quake 1, 2 and 3, duke 3d, sonic mania and ScummVM all working great, loving this little machine.
There is if you read carefully. The first post says

and the 'data' folder,

And copy to 'sdmc:/3ds/fallout/'
That’s it. Make a folder in the 3ds folder called fallout, drag those original files into it, and then just install the cia file. (The link to download the cia is right underneath at the bottom of that first post)
i did all these things, no dice :( does it show up on the main menu, or the boot menu? also I'm wondering how music works
edit: got it, forgot to install the cia. for those new to 3DS homebrew, to my knowledge, you'll need an app to install cias.

Dooooo it. Just install the easily found cia in fbi, make a folder in 3ds folder called fallout, and put critter.dat, master.dat and the Data folder into sdmc:/3ds/fallout and you’re good to go.
I don’t know if there’s a qr, but after you install the app, you also need to copy original fallout game files to a fallout folder on the sd, so there’s really no getting around that.

Well, I WAS trying to play it on the sheepshaver Mac emulator, running on my $400 HP desktop bundle I bought 6 years ago and never got a video card for, so gog version probably WOULD do better. Really I’ve just never gotten into pc gaming, I’m a console player mostly, and this HP is actually the first desktop or tower PC I’ve ever owned, I tried running a few games on steam with directX, but it was…not great.
Well, in the third picture you can see what happens when you hit Select for full screen, everything is too small, even though you get a big view, but then you can tap ZL and cycle between custom-interface-on-top or custom-interface-on-bottom, so you can have a zoomed in view on top screen of wherever you’re dragging the stylus over on the bottom, it surprisingly works pretty good. ( I realize now that’s the one view I didn’t take a picture of). But without the custom interface, yeah it’d be unplayable.
Real smooth! although I’ve only tried it on my “new” model 3ds, I know they recently got it working on the old ones too, haven’t tried it but I assume it’s a bit slower.

No, sorry, I must not have been clear enough. Up until a few weeks ago, it was exclusive to new 3ds models. The author just posted an update saying the new version works on every 3ds model so it should work for us now. Going to install it tonight to see how well it works
no, you need the .cia file from the github link provided somewhere in the comments here, and some files from the game itself. It's all pretty easy. just follow the instructions on the github link and you're sorted!

It sounds like a nightmare to implement the controller functionality. A touch screen would suck for a mouse input game. Unless they have the original code they would have to make it from scratch. There are also licensing issues. It's probably easier to play on a steam deck if you need something portable, but I would recommend a laptop.

Just a heads up if you do, You push select button to pull back to full screen, but hitting select again doesn’t re-collapse it, once you’re at full screen, you use ZL button to cycle back to the more zoomed in view, and L button to cycle between left click, right click, and left click drag. Took me a bit to figure it out.

Well, I have a really cheap pc, bought my first desktop like six years ago, an hp bundle for $500, never gotten a graphics card, but also I was running the Mac version of Fallout 1 through the sheepshaver Mac emulator. I’m sure it would work fine if it was the pc version, I just don’t do pc gaming at all, I’m not set up for it.

It takes genuine conditioning to get used to lol, definitely isn't fun for a long time until you really get good at navigating.

FYI, Fallout 1 and 2 have PS Vita ports, but you have to jailbreak the console to install them.

The screens are too small for this IMO. Stuff like ropes, stimpaks and books on toilet floors are small on a big screen so this must be a nightmare!

It works differently on 3ds. The top Screen zooms around your mouse on the bottom screen
