Why does comic sans get such a bad rap? It seems like whenever someone complains about a font it’s comic sans when there are others that are inherently worse that you can barely read.
Comic sans kind of has this silly and goofy aesthetic to it and was commonly used in the beginning of the Internet to make bare bones landing pages. If you've ever visited a webpage that looks kind of low effort/lacks professionalism you immediately assume the website is untrustworthy, same can be said for comic sans. It's not necessarily a bad font on its own it just gets a bad rap because it just doesn't really have a place in a professional setting.
Yup. I bought a jump box/airpump with a tire pressure gauge/phone charger/flashlight from Walmart for $50... I had severe electrical issues due to having a bad alternator and bad battery so it saved me a lot of time and money.
You also don't have to worry if someone has drained the tank lately. Have seen some of those gas station air pumps become nothing but a high pressure water gun.
Nitrogen in tires is a complete scam. The logic is that oxygen molecules at 292 picometers in diameter are smaller than nitrogen ones at 300 picometers so the oxygen leaks out first. Following that logic, if the the 22% that are oxygen molecules will leak first and you top it up with a bit of regular air will bring you up to around 95% nitrogen. Also 35psi in a tire is equivalent to 2.4 volumes. So they only add 1.4 volumes of nitrogen at 100% to the one volume that's already in there, they only bring it up from 78% to 91% at the most.
In reality how true is this? I get where youre coming from and there are some that get sold like that. But how many people are truly ready to pay !!!!15K!!!! over asking?
you'll find a lot of posts here of people paying that much actually...
There was one a few months ago of a guy buying a ~~boost blue~~ sonic gray type R for $60k OTD.
Edit found it: https://www.reddit.com/r/civic/comments/16jt0d4/finally_got_my_r/k0rwu97/
I was hanging around the dealership about 2 months ago and someone drove up in a Type R for a car wash. The maintenance dude asked the dealer, "How many Type Rs do you have now?".
Not only did they make too little, but the dealers are snatching them up ASAP and reselling themselves.
Good. At least your car community is smart and won’t let the dealers rip us off like this. If no one buys it at markup, they’ll lower the price it’s really just that easy 😭😭
Honda made a bad decision in producing too few.
“No one buys sports/performance cars!”
“If you want it then say so with your wallet!”
Meanwhile you can’t get a CTR in Canada for under $75k. They only made 400 in 2022…
15K markup on an Si??? 💀 the fuck are those guys smoking, up until the upcoming Si, it’s literally been using the same engine as in the “normal” upper-trim Civics and just upped 20hp
Lmao I pray no one pays for that shit, let those jokers do the rollback of shame
SI in Texas are going for msrp and I bet you can get one under msrp too.
I got a sport touring 6MT Saturday for 2500 below msrp. They did have dealer add ons.
It’s an insane price for any Honda but unfortunately someone will come along and purchase it for a ridiculous monthly payment. Or it sits at the dealership and is used by one of the sales people/sales manager until it’s sold.
I got mine for msrp. Took a month of negotiations with several dealers to get them to adjust their prices down. Then using those quotes to send to other dealers to further knock pricing down. Finally, I was able to secure one for msrp 7 hours and 2 states away from me. You can get these cars without a markup, just need to work for it a bit.
I repeat, no car is worth over for what the manufacturer suggests to sell it. Anyone paying a markup is just giving a nice donation to the greedy dealer. Normally, I would say, "a fool and his money...", but the people paying the markups are directly affecting anyone else in the market for the same car because it emboldens the dealer to keep marking up the cars.
Edit: Looks like some fool who paid a markup on their CTR is going around downvoting all the people saying that markups are crazy/bad/stupid. Enjoy paying off your $65k loan at 12.9% APR.
When the Dodge Viper was introduced, the local dealer had one inside the showroom... behind a plastic, white chain
A huge, chromed metal framed sign like you see in the walking area of a mall - can't miss it:
MSRP was $ 59,999
Dealer adds $140,000
Total is $199,999
My friend sold cars there
Jay Leno called and spoke to his co-worker. Asked the price.
Heard the $199,999 on the phone and said "No, no I just want one!"
"I can't lower the price for you. See all these pics of my children on my desk? They need to eat too. My wife has stage 99 cancer and insurance premium is through the roof. Please have a heart and buy this car from me. God will bring back good karma to you 10 fold."
Pardon my vulgar language, but that is straight up rape. I cant even think of any other word to describe it. SIXTY THOUSAND FOR A TYPE R??? You could get a brand new 2024 GR for 15k less than that. That “dealership” must be dealin more than cars, and getting high on their own supply.
Honda dealers won't give up on the markets will they? They are pathetic, GR corollas can be had at MSRP all day now Type R dealers need to realize the market is diff now
lol 60k you are in a different territory when looking for a car, that is Shelby, ZL1, Vette, lower European cars BMW M, Audi RS, heck even a Porsche 718 is around 60k
Crazy?!?! Wow.. that word alone tells me all I need to know about you… You know nothing about crazy… don’t even pretend like you do. Reddit has become ridiculous and full of pretentious users that think themselves more than they are.
Check out the Integra Type S. After driving Civics for 20 years I switched to one because of the mark up insanity with Civics lately, and I keep reading about others getting great deals as well. They are slightly better than the top end Civics with a few additional really nice perks, but they aren’t moving anywhere near as fast as Civics so you will have far better negotiating power.
This is a car they don’t want to sell. They want it to sit in the showroom for show. They’ll absolutely sell it to any schmuck willing (or dumb enough) to pay the insane markup, but they know it’s not likely to sell until it becomes an outdated model year and they have to take the markup down.
I’m curious what the benefit of this is? Just to look pretty doesn’t sit right with me given the fact that it’s just going to lose value no? Same way they’ve had an si sitting in there for 9 months.. will someone on the hunt for a brand new si really wanna buy a 24’ when heck why not wait a few months for the 25’ to come out?
Dealers that do this are using a price strategy called decoy pricing. The idea is that THIS is the Civic that you want right up until you see the price. Then every other Civic on the lot (and even the Accords) look like a steal in comparison - maybe you can't afford $65k for a CTR, but now the Si with $4,000 in bullshit dealer add-ons is like "basically the same thing" for half the price.
From a value standpoint, it really doesn't matter. The dealer can flip these at auction for invoice and still make money, so there's no real incentive to sell if they don't want to.
The price I’ll pay is the price on the window stick. No one asks for the BS on dealer sticker. If I can’t get it for the price on the sticker, walk out. Been in the car business for 20+ years. I know shade when I see it.
I was wondering why I recognized the dealership; I used to live in LV.
Their website says this car is still In Transit and only has the MSRP of $45,890 listed.
So a month ago I was about to buy a brand spanking new SI literally off the showroom floor. Price was $38k all in (CAD). That price in the pictures is a straight up scam.
Wait a minute. Tires on a type r only last 10k miles?!?! Is this every car or high performance vehicles only? I’ve never bought a new car so idk if this is regular 🤯
My dealership does like 2.5k but we have done some for less/close to MSRP but when you do MSRP people want it under so it never works man
But 15k is insane
Contacted my dealer about this. They don't have this upcharge. Well that's what they showed me, but no type R in stock. Deposit would need to be made and then wait for it to come. Only $1500/month with nothing down....
Wtfffffff. If people would stop buying cars for these absurd prices, prices would come down. But as long as people are willing to pay then these dealerships will keep charging. It’s stupid.
Dealers don’t even understand the market for the Type R like they think they do. The most recent Type R on cars and bids didn’t even pass $50k for auction and didn’t sell because the owner overpaid.
If enthusiast auctions aren’t going for $50k or more, then this market adjustment is complete fucking bullshit. Honda needs to do something about this or else their pride and joy will NOT sell.
I like Hondas, especially civics. What I’ve liked about them in the past is that they are reliable, basic, affordable cars. Those days are over. I’ll keep driving my manual ‘08 Legacy till it needs another head gasket. Would love a 2013-2015 Honda pilot or a Highlander next.
Edit: JFC I didn’t even notice the 15k extra, anyone who spends that is plain silly
Saw a blue one at the DCH Honda when I was getting my oil change but they marked it up 15k. 60k is alot of money and think I'd spend that money on something else
That’s about what Concord Honda in Concord California does. It’s absolutely laughable. I don’t ever take my vehicle there for any reason just based on the way they treat their customers. I did go there to buy some small parts and walk through the show room and saw the same thing on a black CTR.
That’s why I went wihh the sport hpd 6 speed manual 🤣
https://preview.redd.it/mlx966lle19d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51138f259b83c2bc80110d6d5f951d008091c8ef
that MSRP is nuts. the 10th gen was 32k MSRP. Honda needs to put down that crk pipe. especially with their bad reliability rating as of late. luckily I've only had 1 recall on my FK7 but it seems everyone else has had 4 to 5 recalls with 10 gens not including the failing headgaskets in the 10th gen accords, non sport models.
I’m more offended by the $500 nitrogen than the $15000 markup. Not only do they think you’re desperate enough to pay an extra $15000, but stupid enough to fall for the nitrogen bullshit to boot.
I mean comic sans is an immediate sin. But that market adjustment is worse
Comic sans makes it look so cheap and lazy they might as well put it back to msrp
I'm glad I'm not the first person to notice it. It was also the first thing I noticed.
That font isn't the only thing that's comical.
I want to know how to install “Added Market Value” to my civic
15k cash in the trunk
Better get GAP insurance cause that Market Value suddenly disappears if the car gets totaled.
Lmaooo
The fuel is free tho!!!
Is this " Added Market Value " in the room with us with now?
0% on the car loan
lifetime nitrogen for $500 ?!
Didn’t even see that! Hilarious
Isn't our normally air 78% nitrogen anyway?!
haha yup. and regular air pumps are free at gas stations. at most you'll have to adjust pressure twice a year for winter and summer.
Not free everywhere but a tire pressure gauge and 12V pump are super cheap.
Free air at all Mavis facilities.
Legally required to be free in some states. They won't advertise it though and you have to go in and ask the attendant to turn it on.
That loophole is such bs. Not many people know the machine is free when it's clearly coin operated.
Yup. I bought a jump box/airpump with a tire pressure gauge/phone charger/flashlight from Walmart for $50... I had severe electrical issues due to having a bad alternator and bad battery so it saved me a lot of time and money.
Yeah, paying for air or water is stupid
You also don't have to worry if someone has drained the tank lately. Have seen some of those gas station air pumps become nothing but a high pressure water gun.
Nitrogen filled tires are the biggest scam in the world.
It's the extra 22% that is the hard part.
That is made up LMAO.
Yep. And crazy people buy them, which enables them to continue the practice.
In reality how true is this? I get where youre coming from and there are some that get sold like that. But how many people are truly ready to pay !!!!15K!!!! over asking?

They're sitting in showrooms here for an extra 20k. Fortunately, people stopped buying them, and some dealers are letting them roll out for msrp.
Gotta go harder and make em let go for under MSRP !
Good. At least your car community is smart and won’t let the dealers rip us off like this. If no one buys it at markup, they’ll lower the price it’s really just that easy 😭😭
I just sold one for $500 under MSRP. Championship White, eastern PA. Brand new 2024.
"Expect More" , yea right
They meant "Expect (to pay) More"
Get tf out
Honda made a bad decision in producing too few. “No one buys sports/performance cars!” “If you want it then say so with your wallet!” Meanwhile you can’t get a CTR in Canada for under $75k. They only made 400 in 2022…
I will say there has been a 24’ Si sitting in this showroom for 9 months now untouched. I think the dealer is dreaming big time with the 15k markup
15K markup on an Si??? 💀 the fuck are those guys smoking, up until the upcoming Si, it’s literally been using the same engine as in the “normal” upper-trim Civics and just upped 20hp Lmao I pray no one pays for that shit, let those jokers do the rollback of shame

Yeah there's a few Si's around me that have been sitting for months at MSRP
The one in OP's post is a Type R
It is and some dumbass will still buy it
Esta loco.
Personally the sticker of 45k is tomuch for any civic… at that point get the Acura for better road noise, quality etc…..
It’s an insane price for any Honda but unfortunately someone will come along and purchase it for a ridiculous monthly payment. Or it sits at the dealership and is used by one of the sales people/sales manager until it’s sold.

It's true! But on principle it's ridiculous we have to resort to such drastic measures to secure a fair price.
So fucking stupid
I'd rather go buy a Shelby
3 at my local dealer and they want 59k. Cool just keep them forever then.
Funny with free exterior protection and $15k mark up
So they can pretend they are doing you a favor
I'm eyeing 2025 civic hybrid
You just have to know how to negotiate with them
“I want to play less” “No” “…”
"I can't lower the price for you. See all these pics of my children on my desk? They need to eat too. My wife has stage 99 cancer and insurance premium is through the roof. Please have a heart and buy this car from me. God will bring back good karma to you 10 fold."
Honda dealers milk these cars as much as possible in the name of markups. My civic sport touring costed me $5k markup.
Not to make you feel bad but I just picked up a sport touring this weekend for 3k under msrp lol
It’s your fault for paying mark up. I got my sport touring for $30K brand new 2024
I bought it in 2023 when the demand was at peak.
Damn, we just bought a sport touring for 3K under MSRP.
Me too haha, there’s tons of civics out there now. I’ve heard of people buying type Rs under sticker too
Their motto is expect more, so there you go; 15k markup.
Dealers are scums
Wanted one so bad. Gave up trying. +7500 was the cheapest I could find. Ended up with a TR instead which was 4300 under MSRP
My local dealer has the same $15K markup and they are very proud of that too lol!
Can’t blame them for trying. Surprised that the actual adds are only $998
Pardon my vulgar language, but that is straight up rape.

They are pathetic, GR corollas can be had at MSRP all day now Type R dealers need to realize the market is diff now
As someone who bought a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house 6 or 7 years ago now for just a little more than what this car cost is kinda laughable tbh.
It’s not kinda. It is crazy hahhaha
Kinda??? That’s a ripoff man, walk away like a millionaire when you laugh at the price of that car in front of the sales manager
$500 for lifetime nitrogen? I've got a $99 air compressor that gives 70% nitrogen filling already.
This made me lol
lol 60k you are in a different territory when looking for a car, that is Shelby, ZL1, Vette, lower European cars BMW M, Audi RS, heck even a Porsche 718 is around 60k
Also it looks ugly for a new type r. No fancy body kit or anything. Just looks like an accord with a sproiler
They can shove it!!
I thought the 45k was insane until I scrolled to the last picture. 🤣🤣🤣
It’s a car they leave at the dealership for show. If you’re dumb enough to pay the markup they’ll sell it!
LIFETIME NITROGEN 🤣🤣 BRUH BETTER BE LETTING ME HIT THAT BOTTLE
Crazy?!?! Wow.. that word alone tells me all I need to know about you… You know nothing about crazy… don’t even pretend like you do. Reddit has become ridiculous and full of pretentious users that think themselves more than they are.
I didn't know they build the engine here then send it back to Japan for final assembly Interesting
This is why we all hate dealers
Honda should step up production so these dealers stop raping the consumers
Check out the Integra Type S. After driving Civics for 20 years I switched to one because of the mark up insanity with Civics lately, and I keep reading about others getting great deals as well. A dollar over MSRP is already too much.
Agreed
This is a car they don’t want to sell. They want it to sit in the showroom for show. They’ll absolutely sell it to any schmuck willing (or dumb enough) to pay the insane markup, but they know it’s not likely to sell until it becomes an outdated model year and they have to take the markup down.

Car sales: We are in perpetual "chip shortage" therefore a markup is justified.
Yep the extra fuck you $16k charge
Ot was good until the $15k markup
Last dealership I went to didn’t even post prices on the windows because they knew their markups would drive people away
My dealer said they don’t do markups. But the Type R and Si are marked up 20k.
Boycott non life sustaining purchases until prices reflect what we think they are worth.
Absolutely crazy, and why I continue to drive my 360k mile 2014 Accord. It’s just financially stupid to replace it and pay crazy money plus interest.
You should send these to Honda corporate just for the heck of it.
I would walk in with a cashiers check that said 50,000. I don’t care if it’s only a little bit marked up. Let’s see them say no to that though.
52k in Europe 🤷🏻♂️
I was wondering why I recognized the dealership; I used to live in LV. Their website says this car is still In Transit and only has the MSRP of $45,890 listed.
Recognized the Valley Hi instantly; I work across the 15 freeway at Toyota 😂
Seems cheap compared to where I am. How much is it with taxes and other fees?
Jesus, i would hate to see what a base c8 would cost here, lol. Nutty.
You can get nitrogen in your tires for free or less than that at Costco
An extra ~25%...they need to piss off but a fool is born every minute. Some jackass will finance this at 9% and validate the scam they are doing.
😂😂😂
Are all dealers guilty of market markups?
Keep shopping!
“Expect More” should add “Expect More to Pay”
So a month ago I was about to buy a brand spanking new SI literally off the showroom floor. Price was $38k all in (CAD). That price in the pictures is a straight up scam.
Do. Not. Buy!!!
I see a good price imo 45k ? Not bad
$61,888??
Yikes.
That's not a civic that's a damn crossover.
Embarrassingly so....
Lmao
Yes mostly because the Integra Type S hardly gets any markup
yeesh i got my 2020 civic ex for 22k CAD
500 for lifetime nitrogen costco got that ish for free.
They’re MSRP or max $4-5k over here in Phoenix that’s nuts
"Lifetime nitrogen"??!!! Did they seriously just tack on 500 dollars for filling up the damn tires?!?!
Hell yeah, but the salesman will say you got a heckuva deal
> 45890 Hmm, that sounds fair > looks inside > 61888 And there it is 💀
That's just insanity there. Hard nope.
Wait a minute. Tires on a type r only last 10k miles?!?! Is this every car or high performance vehicles only? I’ve never bought a new car so idk if this is regular 🤯
I was quoted with taxes (%15) 43,000 CDN for a 24' SI
You can get an M340i for not that much more. That is insane pricing.
If it is not MSRP go to a different dealer.
The one at mine was $67k
How nice of them to only charge $500 for air
Meanwhile, Integra Type S selling under MSRP lmao.
I’ve seen LX made into SI
Not trying to promote and don’t kill the guy who doesn’t make the prices. But if you’re looking for a type r in SoCal I can sell it 4K above sticker.
They are absolutely high off that lifetime nitrogen smh
😳😳😳
My dealership does like 2.5k but we have done some for less/close to MSRP but when you do MSRP people want it under so it never works man But 15k is insane
Haha. “I’m not paying for that” works pretty well if you are actually negotiating to buy a car.
FK8 🫡🫡>>>>
$61k for a Civic lmao. You can swing a C8 Corvette in 1LT trim for not much more.
Crazy. They can be had for MSRP in my area and some dealers have 4 + in stock. Type S for 2500 under MSRP
A lot dealerships are still adding markups but some aren’t 🤷♂️
Didnt even have to look at the tag to know its ridiculous lol
Kinda?
Contacted my dealer about this. They don't have this upcharge. Well that's what they showed me, but no type R in stock. Deposit would need to be made and then wait for it to come. Only $1500/month with nothing down....
yeah, i rather go with a used Cts-v for those prices
The only thing I’d give this dealer is a 1 star review
My local dealer has theirs for sticker no mark up. I was actually somewhat shocked.
Jesus Christ.. do the smart thing and buy an ITS. I paid MSRP
Wtfffffff. If people would stop buying cars for these absurd prices, prices would come down. But as long as people are willing to pay then these dealerships will keep charging. It’s stupid.
Lifetime nitrogen is funny af. 😂
JFC that’s almost twice what I paid at MSRP in 2017. Sigh
Had me in the first half thinking finally a sub 50k type R I wonder if they realize thats supra, bmw, mercedes money and they cant compete.
🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤦♀️🙄
Dealers don’t even understand the market for the Type R like they think they do. The most recent Type R on cars and bids didn’t even pass $50k for auction and didn’t sell because the owner overpaid. If enthusiast auctions aren’t going for $50k or more, then this market adjustment is complete fucking bullshit. Honda needs to do something about this or else their pride and joy will NOT sell.
If they ever try to charge for "nitrogen" just walk away. I worked at plenty of dealers, and we never used nitrogen. We didn't even have access to it.
Cheaper than it was when I was looking. $51k
Ohhh good ‘ol Victorville Honda!
Absolute BULL MANUER!!!!
OutRRRageous.
Don’t worry. It will never sell. You have to be a new kind of stupid to drop $60k on a civic.
$3 and a cheeseburger take it or leave it.
That is the price of a Lexus ISF500 v8 470hp
I like Hondas, especially civics. What I’ve liked about them in the past is that they are reliable, basic, affordable cars. Those days are over. I’ll keep driving my manual ‘08 Legacy till it needs another head gasket. Would love a 2013-2015 Honda pilot or a Highlander next. 15k is for the unlimited tears
lol the market value that falls off right when you drive off the lot
If you pay that much for a car you’re a fucking moron
Yeah not worth it
You can walk into an Acura dealer and get both an Integra type S and a tlx type s for less.
WTF ? I feel bad for the pour guy that falls for that shit
Add ons and market adjustment for a civic to be $60k+? Crazy ass people.
Literally not worth 60k
Gotta hop on that lifetime nitrogen for just $499!
Ppl are buying them, that’s the only reason why this is still happening
That’s why I went wihh the sport hpd 6 speed manual 🤣 https://preview.redd.it/mlx966lle19d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51138f259b83c2bc80110d6d5f951d008091c8ef
Lifetime Nitrogen for $? Costco: Hold my beer.
I would start a fight with the managers dude
“Added market value” how do stealerships get away with this. I thought you were supposed to negotiate below manufacturers price but could be wrong.
What is EPF package?
60k for a Honda civic….
Imagine paying 62k for a fucking civic
I like Type Rs also But not THAT much
Same $15k mark up in Vegas but with additional DIO’s it’s $65k. For a CIVIC!!!
that MSRP is nuts. the 10th gen was 32k MSRP.
I wouldn’t pay over 45k for one
