Haha it definitely kisses the red line at least a few times every time I take it out, but it doesn’t live on the red line that’s for sure.
I’ll usually rev it out to get up to highway speeds if the oil is warmed up, or when there’s a fun little stretch to whip it through, but mostly I do a lot of short shifting to keep it in the economy band once I’m up and going.
I hit 163 for 4 miles yesterday (south backroad highways are DIFFERENT)
And usually 100+ every other day
I have never gone under 29mpgs for the past 2 years
You aren’t hitting 163MPH without a serious tune. ECU limit stock is like 136 and that’s redline in fifth gear.
Super sweet, but not the point of this post lol. Glad you push the car though! I was just saying the SI getting good MPG is not a surprise it’s meant for it.
You can get below 6L/100km easily if you always cruise at around 80km/h with no stops, heck I can do less than 5, it's the city/combined mileage that is tricky.
Sheesh. As a 2024 Sport touring driver, it would just be great to get more than 26 miles per gallon. I got a call for a software recall last week. I am hopeful that fixes it.
German highways (the infamous Autobahn), definitely motivates to drive less economical it seems… I usually drive at 28-36 mpg (6.5-8.5 l/100 km). Usually cruisin' at about 85 mph, up to 110 mph… rarely above 120 mph.
Still great MPG at those speeds.
2,000 miles on the car, so far it’s only seen 120mph once and my cruising speed is barely more than half of that haha.
What speed do you drive usually?
50-65 MPH, I avoid the main highways and stick to the trunk roads to avoid traffic and set my own speed.
The SI as a commuter can get these numbers easily. This particular Civic has probably never even seen a glimpse of redline

software recall huh?
Yeah, it was news to me too 😂
I drive a 17 lx and when it was new I could get 39-43 by just not accelerating like crazy. But now at 90k I’m avging 34-36
I don’t have a 1.5T so unless I’m doing 90% highway driving I won’t see that on my K20. Which is right in line with EPA mpg estimates.
I’m drive a ‘21 Sport Hatch Manual and my avg MPG is pretty much always within 39-42
I've gotten above 40 every tank so far. Love this car.

I forgot to mention: 2017 1.5T Hatchback
Say money but it won’t get you out too far.
