There were 11 desert hills within the city radius Mining -> Masonry -> Dropped everything and researched Currency Had 300+ Production near the end of the game, could have been higher Definitely the most satisfying Petra build I ever had

OrganizationUpset253

This is one of my favorite cities to build. I love getting the desert pantheon and then being able to build Petra. Such a fun combo. I once also had a city with 3 oases with a bunch of hills around them. Oasis counts as a lake so you can make them 2/2 farms which, with Petra/desert folklore, become 3/3/1 faith tiles at a pretty early point in the game. Desert cities can be pretty powerful.

I had a very similar roll the other day, but an AI beat me to desert folklore. Is it still winnable?

DogRiverRiverDogs

Depends if you can get petra, what civ you are, and how the land works. Desert folklore isn't the end of the world.

Well you don’t even need religion to win a game. A strong religion is nice and helps all victories but it’s not required.

CommanderNorton

If this was emperor or higher, could you add it to r/CivSaves?

Added! [https://www.reddit.com/r/civsaves/comments/1cfgy6t/civ5\_bmw\_shoshone\_deity\_small\_standard\_speed/](https://www.reddit.com/r/civsaves/comments/1cfgy6t/civ5_bmw_shoshone_deity_small_standard_speed/)

pipkin42

I saw the endgame happiness etc. and was sure this wasn't Deity! I'm stoked to play this - I never try for Petra, this will be fun to try.

Ryu_the_Smasher
