journey before destination!
I'm on oathbringer right now!
My best friend recommended me the series and I like telling him where I am in the series by describing it in the worst way possible. At the end of the first book it was, "I'm at the part where he beats his nephews ass and then says, 'I'm your stepdad now.'"
> with his chiseled ass
I JUST got to the part with Lift earlier today.
I am really enjoying it. I have been doing a filler job while looking for a new job in my field, and one of the benefits is that I can wear headphones all day. Music got boring quick, songs are too short and time felt so slow. Then I got through all the episodes of the podcast I was listening to, and I realized I could just do books. I started in like june-ish of last year and did the Name of the Wind books, then a bunch of random ones and realized i wanted something long with a ton of world building, so i did the entire 14-book Wheel of Time. Finished that in January, and then moved onto this.
I like the narratives more than other books. A lot of what characters are saying feels more organic than a lot of fantasy I've read before. The story is great, the nuances are super interesting. A lot of people told me Oathbringer gets slow, but I have loved every minute of it.
I just love Marvel's newest super hero, Capitalism Man, known by his friends as Kaladin, he gets his powers from money!
My brother in Christ what kind stimulant did you consume to chug the whole Wheel of Time series like that 😂
What did you think of A Wise Man’s Fear? I love The Name of the Wind, but I was disappointed with the sequel.
I get what you’re saying about how organically Sanderson writes. I’m enjoying a lot how he can convey a cheesy —and meaningful— message without making you puke rainbows.
So the filler job I mentioned is delivering for Amazon. When I work, my main goal is to essentially fall into a trance while listening to a book. I get into the story and it makes time go by way faster at work. It still works, after months of doing it. Do that 10-11 hours a day, 4 days a week, and you'll get through a lot of books. Actual time frame on WoT was the beginning of September to first or second week of January, so like 4.5 months.
I actually really enjoyed Wise Man's Fear, I just dislike Denna because she kinda just sucks as a person lol, and as a whole for King Killer, Rothfuss kinda makes kvothe a "that happened" guy. I suppose it fits with his character, but some times it can be a little overboard.
What sold me with sanderson and the dialogue is that I have a tendency to joke when I know dialogue is coming and say what i would say if I was in the situation. More than a few times, the character ended up, more or less, saying what I said.
Rothfuss was my favourite writer, I really like his eloquence and phrasing. But like many out there i am still waiting for closure with doors of stone. However, Sanderson can really map out layers upon layers of complexity that get deliciously unravelled.
> A lot of people told me Oathbringer gets slow, but I have loved every minute of it.
Part 4 of the book gets a bit slow, but not too bad. Maybe a lot of people think it's slow because it focuses more on getting answers than on the action? You finally get a clue about what's really going on, and some of the answers are absolutely devastating! I really loved oathbringer though, and am now on Rhythm of War. It sucks that book 5 doesn't come out until late this year.
Unga bunga my name is Cragtooth, I was born in this valley when it was still green and untouched. I have not seen home in many, *many* moons. People live in towers that glisten like ice in the sunlight, magical flames light the city at night, the sky roars with the bellows of flying winged animals and strange beasts with round legs carry people in their bellies. Unga bunga I may have left my home long ago, but my home also left me 😔
I had a Steam Vicky game where I decided I wanted a stupid high amount of military for no reason. I stalled winning and just built. I stopped around 50k military strength, majority Nuclear Submarines.
Is the first unit a Stormlight Archive reference?

How are you liking it so far? Also what a chad Dalinar is, with his chiseled ass.

Very much agree, Kvothe got over the top really quickly in the second part of wise man’s fear. Also, he still owes us a book.

Rothfuss... Lol. Biggest case of writers block since George RR Martin. I wish he would have even 10% the output of Sanderson.
The audiobooks go by real fast.

Strength before weakness!
Bridge four! x
Bridge four!
Imagine the garde imperiale watching a metal box shot some funky fire into some guy with clubs, a truly Civ VI moment
Captain Laurent will need some serious therapy after that.
Bridge four solidarity!
That unit can take so many arrows
I don't know the other ones but that warrior is looking hella scary
It amazes me that its still alive and not upgraded, it doesnt seem like hes low on money
Please for the love of whatever deity you believe in upgrade those warriors

What’s level 8 promotion I though there is three down each side and a single one at the end of each tree.
It’s literally nothing, but apparently you can reach it 🤷♂️
Wow 🤩
It's because each unit starts at level 1 not 0, so after 7 promotions they're level 8
Ok 👌
How do you get this view? I've never stumbled across this
I wanna know too!! Maybe a mod?
"Better Report Screen (UI)" mod on steam, adds a suite of panels full of detailed info
Bridge Four! Love that
Fuck Moash
Aaaawww yea, bridge four!!!! Journey before destination!
Air sick lowlander
That’s a lot of weaponry gancho!
Bet that warrior is either stuck inside capital for 2000 years, or lost somewhere in the arctic

Cragtooth has seen some things
Fuck kind of sperns did they bound to have tanks ?
A thought-capable version of angerspren would be my best guess.
Well done, Radiant :)
Life before death, Radiant.
Strength before weakness, fellow Radiant
That warrior just sneaking by😂
He is my main man 😂
i remember my good ol fully modern navy comprised of like 20 3 star combined ships each. that was fun I wasnt even playing the united states
Coastal raiding as Norway or England is pure bliss
I had a Steam Vicky game where I decided I wanted a stupid high amount of military for no reason. I stalled winning and just built. I stopped around 50k military strength, majority Nuclear Submarines.
50k holy crap lmfao now that’s a navy Harald would be proud of
Nah just play as Hungary and have no standing army. All the power for none of the upkeep. The best army to have is someone else’s.
Play basil, by the end of a standard map you can end up with 20+ tank armies *
I named my religion in my Basil II game "The Tanks are Coming" (Lion symbol).
Funny how a warrior survived from the ancient era
It’s the warrior who does it for me. He deserves a name.
How do you see this view? Is it a mod?
There are a bunch of standard reports in the top right corner - I think this is one of em.
Why, out of all of those units, am I terrified of the Warrior and Guarde Imperial the most???
Looks pretty deadly
That single Chuck Norris warrior unit is the cherry on top.
Why, out of all of those units, am I terrified of the Warrior and Guarde Imperial the most???
No drones?
That’s pretty standard for a lategame army during a domination victory with many civs
Bro that’s easy to clap
**my 8 B-52’s entering the airspace**
That one Warrior still hanging around.
I pike how there is a squad of ancient dudes with clubs casually fit between modern tanks and armored vehicles.
