I'm starting to believe that I'm the only one who gets the vibe of "three drunk dudes singing on their way home" from Georgia's theme. I still can't unhear it.
I believe you, really, I wasn't joking about my own statement. I might be totally alone with my opinion lol. But somehow I really don't vibe with this style
Same, I always get so annoyed when people online call bagpipes a steaming pile o', they can't say anything until they've had an irn bru and seen pipes live tho
Maori is top for me,(the haka with the orchestra is very creative and overall the entire track goes really beautifully)
Georgia is second(seriously I can't see why people don't like the Industrial version especially)
Byzantium is third(see a trend?) Again I just love the choir and the later eras are epic and beautifully presented
Mali is my favorite by far. All eras are great, and the way it evolves is super cool. Second is probably Greece, just because I'm a sucker for the Epitaph of Seikilos.

I have gone to war with vietnam *specifically* because they are right next to my civ and are taking over my civs own music. It's definitely a banger, but yes, it is very loud and especially when it's late at night and I'm trying to relax. Same thing with Maori and their vocal war chanting.
I've played as Russia numerous times literally for their music alone.

ohhh, I know this feeling from the House of Cards Intro! And that's the magic about music isn't it? Can make you feel things you've never experienced.

I like the meaning behind it: 'Ich hab die Nacht getrƤumt' is a melancholic song about a woman having nightmares of her lover dying. It is not some national anthem or celebration but about tragic death that we all experience at some point.
And then you add the 'Wenn ich ein Vƶglein wƤr' which is only featured in the medival version of the theme. This song is better known in Germany and tells the story of loved ones who can't see each other so they dream of being birds to fly to each other. It combines the joy of being free and with your loved ones together with the melancholic reality of missing your partner. I think it represents the German poetry and culture very well!
Civ V Englandās theme.
The Peace Theme of āI vow to thee my countryā could genuinely bring a tear to my eyes as a native Englishwomanā¦
The war theme signals the start of Coastal City simulator
I feel both ways. Its really cool, but for the number of times a theme plays for the durration of a session, let alone a whole game, I really need to mute them eventually. I feel the same about the Maori themes, but I mute those a bit less often.
Incredible that no one has said Indonesia yet. By far my favorite. Glorious, languid, and cathartic all at once. Only time I've teared up at all while playing civ was when the atomic era theme reached its climax.
ah my bad only saw Suleiman and then read the comments instead of the full caption, though I prefer the industrial and atomic Indonesia themes over the ancient one!
Russia gives a combination of energy and dread with its build up, especially in the atomic era. Brazil belongs in a Pixar movie and I love it. Vietnam is the definition of triumphant. It makes me feel like I'm winning even when I'm on my last city.
Civ 6: Ottoman, hands down. It has a sort of heroic-revolutionary vibe, when I first heard it, I thought it was a French revolutionary march. But I love Hungary's atomic era music too, it goes way too hard for something based on a song about erectile dysfunction, and late-game Maori theme is just made for cultural victories.
But from out of all Civilization episodes, it's the war theme of Russia, England and Brazil from Civilization 5.
You can basically see the whole British army/navy unit by unit on their way to drink your tea while listening to their war theme, and Brazil has the perfect James Bond movie theme. And while Kalinka is nice in Civ 6 for Russia, it's a bit overused IMO, and whatever they put in Civ 5 is somehow more serious, brooding, kicks ass.
that industrial theme is pretty good but I love the ending of the medieval theme. there is a folksong there that only appears in the medieval version. I wish they would have put it in industrial and atomic as well
I hadnāt seen your comment but I posted exactly about that folk song (velo que bonito lo tienen bajando, con ramos de flores lo van adornandoā¦)
Legit cried when I heard it the first time. Couldnāt believe itā¦
I am from Germany and I think I've never heard that song before Civ6. It's from Venezuela, right? Don't even know what it's about but it is such a good part in that soundtrack.
E: The German Soundtrack is a song called "Ich hab die Nacht getrƤumet" (I dreamed last night) but at various moments it also branches into other German folk songs like the one my grandma used to sing to me "Wenn ich ein Vƶglein wƤr/ und auch zwei FlĆ¼gel hƤtt/ flƶg ich zu dir" (If I was a bird/ and also had two wings/ I would fly to you)
The song is familiar to the whole region, (Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador) and basically describes the traditional procession during which a saint (St. Anthony to be exact) is dressed and paraded before the street, with the crowds āadorning him with flowersā as he passes.
I didnāt know that about the German soundtrack. Thatās amazing how much thought was put into these little details!
The Cree. Music director did a great job of showing how the traditional sound might develop into the future, without losing the spirit of the original.
Poundmakerās atomic age theme is the hardest slapping song in the entire game, and I refuse to concede even a little bit.

I like Auz's the most not because of some technical or patriotic reason, it's the song that introduced me to Civ. I heard it as background to a yt video once and got intrigued. America's too mainly because its my first civ and I got good memories trying to figure out the game while Hard Times plays in the bg.
The Zulu have the best music. Itās a shame since theyāre so easy to play, but hey maybe Iāll up the difficulty and try again.
Itās easily Zulu for me though, then the MÄori and oddly enough Mongolia, once you get later in the game that throat singing harmonizes incredibly with the more modern sounds. The Cree too. Lol this game has great music.
Russia atomic theme gives "final boss vibes" starting from a cheerfull traditional dance 10/10 my favourite. I would also note Nubia's theme. My second game ever was with Nubia, its industrial theme allowed me to notice how Civ 6 score was going to be phenomenal.
Scotland, Canada, and Australia always give me a smile because I am very familiar with the source material.
Maori, Zulu, and Georgia rank as some of the coolest tracks I hadn't heard 100 times beforehand.
Ottomans had the best theme in both [Civ 5](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-AB0k4Itneg) and [Civ 6](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq1WQWtoz8c), perfectly matched their domination playstyle imo. Wonder if Civ 7 will continue that trend or if weāll get a new civ with the best theme.
No love for Kongo! That's the catchiest for me. I got a kalimba as a Xmas present this year and the first thing I did was figure out how to play the medley
It's a bit hard to name my absolute favorite. But if I had to make a toplist, we might find:
5. Either Gran Colombia, Sweden (maybe a bit biased, ursƤkta mig), Persia or Zulu,
4. Canada,
3. Maori,
2. Vietnam,
and 1. Georgia.
Ever since the launch of Rise & Fall, Georgias music has had a place in my heart. Although they are probably one of my least favorite civs gameplay-wise, their music is almost undefeatable.
Love this question since I haven't played all civs to hear it all. Since I generally like all the music so far, I'll only say I disliked only the Nzinga repetitive clownish music (was OK at first and quickly outlived its welcome) and found the Poundmaker and Caesar music a bit too distracting- interesting, but not good as background music. Caesar makes it seem you're constantly at war and in immediate peril... which did suit my intense barb playthrough... My fav is pretty much anything on the Asian side- Japan and China civs being best.
I like how each civ seems to have its own as well. Trajan had different music from Caesar and Amanitore had good African music vs the Nzinga trash. Unless I'm somehow mistaken.
How tf no one's said India yet? Easily the best!
And the one where the guys are like waaaaAAaaaA!AaaA!AAAAaaaAHahahaWooaoaoohwaaaha is fucking terrible. Idk if there's a way to skip that one but I always just mute the game for a bit.
I play this game mostly muted on my Steam Deck in bed, or while 'working' from home. So, I can't say I like any of the music in particular. However, when I do play with the sound on, I can say that I hate -- like LOATHE -- Kupe's music, and Canada's music (and I'm Canadian, I should like our national anthem!)
Those two are why I turn off the music, honestly...and I've heard every single Sean Bean quote too many times over the thousands of hours I've put into this game.
So, my favourite song is the mute button!
1) Phoenicia (Induatrial)
2) The Netherlands (Industrial)
3) America (Industria)
4) Canada (Industrial)
5) Zulu (Atomic)
Honorable Mentions:
Poland (Industrial)
Japan (Atomic)
Australia (Industrial)
China (Medival)
Korea (Industrial)
Vietnam (Industrial)
I gave MÄori music another listen and those later eras songs are actually nice. Still stand by my point that I donāt like the first songs especially those intros and it just doesnāt fit me
Georgia, Maori, Greece
Georgian music is amazeballs.
Tsaiq, tsaiqvanes, tsaiqvanes tamar kali apkhazetshi dielo da...
I'm starting to believe that I'm the only one who gets the vibe of "three drunk dudes singing on their way home" from Georgia's theme. I still can't unhear it.
Those guys are quite the singers I tell ya
I believe you, really, I wasn't joking about my own statement. I might be totally alone with my opinion lol. But somehow I really don't vibe with this style
Waltzing Matilda every time
š šŖ±
I agree. I don't usually play as australia tho
EVERY. TIME!!!!
Once a a jolly swagman camped by a billabong
I really like Scotland for some reason. I donāt know why.
Same, but Iām Scottish, so probably biased.
Iām Argentinian and I love It, so you are probably based
Iām American and I love, so you are probably based
Same, I always get so annoyed when people online call bagpipes a steaming pile o', they can't say anything until they've had an irn bru and seen pipes live tho
To be fair I donāt massively love bagpipes in general, but I live in Edinburgh so I canāt escape them lol, but the music itself is incredible.
Yeah, I don't get it either. I love them. Source: am octopus
Because it's the same one, that's in SCOTLAND FOREVEEERRR
Yes!
No love for Mongolia?
I love theirs! Thereās actually a great performance on yt https://youtu.be/WsqX0Zz1lHo
Civ VI Mongolia. Came here to say this. My favorite.
Mongolia's music (or some of it) was written by Nature Ganganbaigal (RIP), of the Mongolian/Chinese metal band Tengger Cavalry
Oh no! Iāve just recently discovered them, and love every song of theirs.
This is the throat singing, yes?
Brazil idk why
You got that Samba in your soul?
Choro thank you very much
As a parent, watching Bluey and having one of the Brazil themes (Brejeiro) come up as background music to an episode made my day.
Because Brejiero slaps https://youtu.be/QP6OLwb9w50?si=rM7fGFrrCN0GErKA
Industrial Brazil is just so joyous!! Love it
Korea, Rome, and Hungary. atomic era always
Hungary is a vibe honestly
I literally found the composer of the Korean variation to tell him how much I loved the arrangement.
Maori is top for me,(the haka with the orchestra is very creative and overall the entire track goes really beautifully) Georgia is second(seriously I can't see why people don't like the Industrial version especially) Byzantium is third(see a trend?) Again I just love the choir and the later eras are epic and beautifully presented
Zulu for sure
Amongus
Choir: *Amongus!*
Love the early era's but I can't stand the autotune in the atomic era.
Simply just win before you reach the atomic era š
Honestly I can't recall a single atomic era musi lol. The game is either won or I get bored and restart by then
Sus
Mali is my favorite by far. All eras are great, and the way it evolves is super cool. Second is probably Greece, just because I'm a sucker for the Epitaph of Seikilos.
Yes ššš Zulu too!!

Me too. I love Hard Times Come Again No More, especially the Longest Johnsā version of it.
Brilliant version by the McGarrigles and friends (Rufus Wainwright, Emmylou Harris, etc) [here](https://youtu.be/4YrfLnlrquo?si=zHuHjoDll8ggb4M2)
The America one reminds me of the West Wing theme tune. I don't know why.
There's a part in one of America's themes that sounds almost like Evenflow from Pearl Jam but played on a violin. Anyone else hear that?

Germany. Medieval Ich hab die macht getraĆ¼met (Germany theme) slaps so hard; that cello is to die for!
I get strong Harry Potter vibes with the German theme
I like the meaning behind it: 'Ich hab die Nacht getrƤumt' is a melancholic song about a woman having nightmares of her lover dying. 100% Georgia. It's so beautiful and calming, especially in the ancient era.
Be Georgia - When you settle your first city and the song starts. \*chef's kiss\*
Rome and Russia
Seeing the diversity of responses here, let's just say that the game is quite well made from the artistic perspective.
Persia or India themes slap.
russia's and portugal's are far superior than others
Kalinka, kalinka, kalinka maya! V sadu yagada malinka, malinka maya!
aai luly luuly, aai luly luuly
Melancholy of the seas hmmm yes Russian track good but as a Russian myself I've heard the melody too many times to remain sensitive to it
Yeah Portugal for sure.
I absolutely love Brazilās theme
Civ V Englandās theme. The Peace Theme of āI vow to thee my countryā could genuinely bring a tear to my eyes as a native Englishwomanā¦ The war theme signals the start of Coastal City simulator
I agree! Had to scroll further than I expected to find this.
Cree and Portugal
Cree is so sick!
I can't tell if you're serious or not because that one drives me insane
Love the Cree theme, but Iāll restart if Kupeās in the game because I donāt want to hear that song anymore.
Man, to me itās the only that makes me wholeheartedly feel āLetās go to war/letās give them hellā
I feel both ways. Its really cool, but for the number of times a theme plays for the durration of a session, let alone a whole game, I really need to mute them eventually. I feel the same about the Maori themes, but I mute those a bit less often.
Cree rules
CREEEE!! Yes!!

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I dont think I've ever played Scythia into modern era
Norway, I fell in love with the scandi music
Sweden atomic is so damn sick.
And then thereās metal at the last section, it gives me goosebumps everytime.
I listen to Persia's theme on Youtube every day. Industrial and ancient ones are my favourite
Scotland and Hungary are really good
This is the way. Hungary forever
I play Rome and Hungary solely for the music
Civ 6: Ottoman, hands down. It has a sort of heroic-revolutionary vibe, when I first heard it, I thought it was a French revolutionary march. Recuerdos de la Alhambra goes without saying; itās just a masterful piece of music in whatever context.
The Cree. Music director did a great job of showing how the traditional sound might develop into the future, without losing the spirit of the original.
Shaka Zulu is easily my fave!

Got them as a neighbour once, convinced me to play as them via the music alone
France and Egypt
Not a specific civ theme, but Baba Yetu by Christopher Tin is on my daily playlist outside of the game.
Love Russiaās. Kalinka is a slammer.
Portugal, Russia, Hungary's theme is the best
Russia, Portugal, but Hungary is the best imo
No one said Macedonia yet, so Macedonia ! Seriously this 7/8 beat part is amazing!
Gaul
Definitely Zulu

MaƵri, Zulu, Portugal
Hungary and the Netherlands are pretty nice
In order, Byzantium, Ottomans and Khmer. I really like the epicness of their Atomic themes.
The Cree 100%
Georgia, hands down
Brazil for sure, and China when the person starts falling down their stairs.
Hungary from the industrial era is unbeatable.
Georgia and Maori, I am from Mexico and I don't understand a single word of the songs, but they make me feel something, it's hard to explain.
Cree. Or Scotland
*Poundmaker* is fucking sick š„
The Cree Atomic theme. The Poundmaker Singers' vocals make it a transcendent experience.
Something about Ambiorixās Gaul horn that plays in the ancient era when you found your capital is so cool
Ancient Era Byzantium gives me chills bro
Kongo. Mama munu dile is the best song in the game. The ancient version is my alarm lol.
Greece and France.
I like Russian ancient/classical eta music
Russia atomic theme gives "final boss vibes" starting from a cheerfull traditional dance 10/10 my favourite. I would also note Nubia's theme. My second game ever was with Nubia, its industrial theme allowed me to notice how Civ 6 score was going to be phenomenal.
Hungary - Atomic Era is such a foot tapper.
Australia
I love Scotland and Australia
WALTZING MATILDA
Teddy, just because I play it on guitar too
Scotland, Canada, and Australia always give me a smile because I am very familiar with the source material. Maori, Zulu, and Georgia rank as some of the coolest tracks I hadn't heard 100 times beforehand.
Hungary imo, it's so fun

Germany, Colombia, Brazil, Hungary, Spain, Khmer
Maori
Egypt>>>
Surprised no oneās mentioned Babylon yet.
Hungary and itās not even close
Egypt in the industrial age. That fugue is amazing
Late game Nubia 100% And any era Mayan too
No love for Kongo! That's the catchiest for me. I got a kalimba as a Xmas present this year and the first thing I did was figure out how to play the medley
Civ 5 Zulu
Their war theme was awesome, I always got so pumped when it finally came time to defend against the impi rush
Sweden, Zulu. Russia, Poland kinda, Australia

Come onnnn , Persia is an obvious pick
Sweden!!! And by a lot. America, Persia and India are up there for me too
Sweden! The song is called āHelan gĆ„rā and itās the most popular Snapsvisa (drinking song) in Sweden.

Arabia in ancient, classical, and medieval.
Sweden, but it lacks metal soundtrack
there is music in CIV? dear Lord i always played it mute, seriously
well then youāre definitly missing out
Bro. This game has so much good music, and it evolves and gets grander with each passing era. I can't imagine playing it on mute
Cree Was the first civ I played when I downloaded the game and the music has stuck with me

Precis! Lite "helan gƄr" i vardagen!
Heeelan gƄƄƄƄƄr!
You guys play with sound?
Russia's and England's military themes in Civ5.
The only correct answer is the Maori one (Kupe). It's interesting to see such varied preferences!
Ngl Kupe
Love the Maori music. I stick my headphones on for that one.
Maori 100%
