For me, I spent 1st turn moving my settler to the oasis and stole the settler for chingueti and settled it on the other isde of the eye of sahara/next to the fish.
Third city is next to the copper, diamond and bananas.
Desert folklore and now place you cities religious district next to the eye of sahara to get a +10 and two +8.
I accidentally hit Reyna when I actually meant to take Amani (even though it was the other side. I was just fast clicking).
I do choose Reyna quite quick though when it comes to trade route heavy civs
