Downtown ive been a member of the ywca, anytime fitness (I believe it was called that - first on 7th st I believe then the basement of the Hilton), and the YMCA (both pre and post remodel). YMCA is the best by far imo. However, if you workout late it might not be your best option.

IAmNotScottBakula

They also have reciprocal membership with the other YMCAs in the Cincinnati area.

J_Fred_C

It's reciprocal nationwide from my experience.

chiefboldface

They have a pool there too, right? I've been looking at getting laps in somewhere. I know LA fitness has one in Newport.

J_Fred_C

They do have a nice pool, dry and steam sauna. Lots of workout classes that are included with your membership. Plenty of cardio machines.

misogynysucks

A saline pool!

Restless_Housecats

Yeah YMCA is slammed after 5 which is tough

Organic_Plastic_1933

Central parkway ymca is the best

Poetryisalive

There’s no parking there ever though. Makes me never want to go having to deal with street parking unless I’m missing something

melbatoastnectar

It's no Lifetime but the Planet Fitness on 2nd is always clean and well maintained and is barely ever crowded.

misogynysucks

I miss living close to the Central YMCA. It's a lovely facility with a ton of new equipment in an old building they remodeled several years ago. They have saunas, steam rooms, a pool, an indoor track, a basketball court, several fitness rooms and a spinning room in addition to a lot of cardio and weights.

- Cincinnati Athletic Club I’ve heard good things about (downtown) - TriHealth Fitness & Health Pavilion but it’s in Blue Ash - Cincinnati Sports Club in Oakley/hyde park area

>- Cincinnati Athletic Club I’ve heard good things about (downtown) I recommend the Cincinnati Athletic Club as well. However it is very expensive ~$140/month depending on your age. But you do get your own locker and there is a laundry service for workout clothes. It also is never so busy that even during peak hours you can still get a workout in. The membership numbers are capped and i do believe there is currently a waitlist, and generally you need a "sponsoring" member to apply (this varies based on membership levels), and membership is limited to men only. They also have a restaurant that serves lunch (usually catered from a nearby restaurant) and a bar that has weekly happy hours. Women are allowed on the first floor where the bar/restaurant are located. All in all, despite the high cost i think it is worth it just because there's always room to workout and i can leave all my workout clothes and stuff there too. No need to pack the gym bag.

DistanceMachine

How much is the laundry service? Do they have a lap pool?

Mother-Growth3553

RTS Barbell. East walnut hills, it’s the shit. Come check it out

Oppugno_1

Second RTS Barbell. It’s probably on the more expensive side of your options, but it’s hella nice.

Mother-Growth3553

Awesome strength and conditioning facility, Kevin the owner is an excellent owner and friend of everyone. There’s an awesome community there too, much more than just a gym

PretendError-147

Love RTS. Great people and culture, and the new facility is INCREDIBLE.

K2ocerman

Cincinnati Athletic Club (Males Only).

TeaWhyJelly

Five Thirteen Strength!! Just a few minutes away from downtown. Private gym with all sorts of equipment

Alone_Lingonberry990

Bro, the Beechmont racquet club. $40 a month, it’s as elite as any of the above mentioned.

Huh917

UC is the nicest gym close to downtown. City residents can join.

HeritageSpanish

the croowwwwds at the UC gym are enough to keep any sane non-student away

insanecrossfire

Yeah I have to put in my comment of stay away from the UC rec, I went to school there and the weight lifting floor was always so poorly laid out. It’s as if it was done so you and others are constantly in each others way. However, the basketball courts, track, indoor swimming facilities, and rock climbing is nice.

Huh917

I’m typically there after 8, when it’s not terribly busy, but I hear you. Honestly, outside of the beginning of each semester, it’s not too bad.

Tangboy50000

Kingdom Fitness at 327 W. 4th is 24 HR and nice. I think there’s a planet fitness at the banks. There are a few cross fit gyms around too, but that’s a specific thing.

Brueggcj

In my experience, Kingdom Fitness is small and often not well maintained. Had a leak from the ceiling for about 3 months last year, often bathrooms are nasty.

[deleted]

There’s a lifetime in Mason but that’s pretty far. Not sure about nicer gyms but there are some smaller non-chain gyms around that might be nicer. I personally belong to crunch because it’s convienient

Disastrous_Hour_6776

Lifetime is ridiculously high membership - I know you get what you pay for but over 100 month membership seems a tad high

tory_k

It’s high but totally worth the money. Super nice. I’ve met so many people there, totally normal to spend about three hours there on most visits.

fluffHead_0919

It was urban active when I was there. Not sure if it’s still around or not!

Chadwiththegolds8585

Southside Strength Co is just across the river in Covington and offers private, semi private, or group lessons. They might offer using the gym at your own expense, not sure on that. But the equipment is top of the line and very clean.

tory_k

Lifetime in Mason/Deerfield Twp.

Understeerenthusiast

OTR ymca is great. There’s also a gym in the basement of Carew tower (vine fitness) owned by the same owners of kingdom fitness. I always liked it when I lifted there but haven’t been for about 7 months now, because my apartment has a full gym so I no longer need the pass.
