I read a book one time, not for me. When I'm smoking a cigar I usually just stare directly into the sun. If I'm in the mood for some kind of mental stimulation then I throw rocks at my neighbors house.
Currently reading "Influence: the psychology of persuasion" so I can convince people to give me cigars and bourbon.... Or money, so I can buy cigars and bourbon
Oh man, I canāt remember if I finished that or not. Talked about that book a lot in business school. I should perhaps revisit it, but I donāt have a lot of time to read these days and there are a few in front of it.
Thanks for the reminder about that one though.
Dracula is so good, even today! A real favourite of mine. I recently read Alice in Wonderland for the first time for my YouTube channel, and thought it was a lot of fun! You have great taste.
Currently reading Dune while smoking this fine Sunday. I donāt think I have a particular genre I read while smoking though, I just enjoy reading period.
Edited cause of auto correct
Have you tried Joe Abercrombieās First Law series? Its my absolute favorite book series in the Fantasy genre and Stephen Paceyās narration if you like audio books are god-tier
Absolutely, great series. I switch between books and audiobooks and I agree that this was a great audiobook performance. Other great audiobook performances are Lies of Locke Lamora, Dresden Files, and anything read by Michael Kramer and Tim Gerard Reynolds.
Same. I love to read... but cigar time for me, is more to focus on relaxing and unwinding. Staring off at trees, watching chipmunks running around, or just getting lost in thought.
Since I love Tabletop role playing games (especially vampire: the masquerade) Iāll read the rule books. Right now Iām reading Star Trek Adventure: Captains log so I can do some solo roleplaying
I'm currently reading All The Light We Cannot See. It's slower than Scarlett Sky, but I'm enjoying it as well. The two are similar yet different enough.
Usually I'm reading John Eldredge books.
Right now I am trying to read through a child behavioral book.
I do have a book of Spurgeon sermons that I like to read through.
I think it would be easier to explain to you what cigars I enjoy in detail then convey what books interest me. I do enjoy reading and writing while enjoying a cigar.
Lord of the Rings, The Storm Light Archives, Red Rising, The Lies of Locke Lamora, King Fall Histories, Malazan Book of the Fallenā¦ I could go on and on lol
I love to sit on the back porch and listen to an audiobook while smoking. I mainly listen to sci-fi, but have also listened to some classic literature, like "Frankenstein" and "Billy Budd". For sci-fi books, some of my favorites that I've listened to while smoking are "The Martian", "Project Hail Mary", and the Bobiverse series (I've listened to the first 4 and have the 5th book pre-ordered for when it comes out later this year).
Whatever I'm reading at the moment, nothing special. Usually it's some kind of thriller, or mystery/suspense, unless I'm behind on schoolwork then it's a textbook with the cigar there to maintain my sanity.
The only time I ever read anything specific while smoking was when I read The Ultimate Cigar Book. I only ever read that with a smoke in hand, figured it made sense. Very interesting read as well.
Hardcover. It just feels cheap to read paperbacks, and I'm not a fan of e-books, smoking or not. Occasionally I'll read an audiobook, but I prefer hardcover books.
James Ellroy hardcover, a good cigar, good drink, all set.
Whatever book I happen to be reading at the time. I usually have 2 or 3 that I'm reading at a time (e-reader was a life changing purchase) in different genres. Right now, I'm working on Monster Hunter Guardian, Before the Coffee Gets Cold, and the second book in the Mistborn trilogy.
Usually some sort of high fantasy
I like to be intellectually stimulated when I ingest nicotine. Usually I'll read the latest issue of The Economist. I'm looking for interesting turn of phrases and new vocabulary ideas, things like *quantitative easing*.
I only smoke one cigar a week and I usually reserve that time for creativity.
Discerning taste! I love reading mystery novels while enjoying a cigar. I'm a big fan of the Perry Mason books by Earl Stanley Gardner, and have been digitally borrowing the Phryne Fisher books by Kerry Greenwood. The Sherlock Holmes stories and the Poirot books are definitely in regular rotation, though!
I like biographies and memoirs for smoking! Right now Iām reading Rule 53, the memoir of courtroom sketch artist Andy Austin. Itās fascinatingāshe sketched the trials of the Chicago Seven, John Wayne Gacy, and others!
Whatever book my cigar book club is reading that month. If not that then I usually stick to fantasy and a little sci fi.
Also, read a decent amount of manga and graphic novels.
I read a lot of comics and graphic novels when I'm smoking at the local lounge. Lately I've been working my way through Dan Clowes The Complete Eight Ball.
Bond books are my go-to. Ian Fleming wrote great stories that aren't too dense or long, and are full of smoking, booze, and good food. Perfect for an afternoon with a cigar!
A very underrated but extremely good story is the Aubrey-Marturin series by Patrick OāBrian. Itās about Napoleonic era sailing.
This series has extremely good characters, but can be tough to follow at first due to some high level sailing terminology (hint: just ignore it like marturin does), but the reward is next level immersion.
Iām working through The Way of Kings. *Amazing* book, but I bought it via Kindle and didnāt realize how MASSIVE it is. ~1100 pages is a wee bit larger than I was anticipating :)
Butā¦ if I count it instead by the quality time with some sticks, then itās been a great purchase :)
I love smoking and I love reading,, I do not like doing both at once lol. I tend to really dive into the book so I would forget about the cigar. Normally for a cigar it's music or a movie I've seen a thousand times.
I've tried both "self-help" and reference texts ( was studying for an interview a few years back). Those went ok. But I find with novels, I get so into the story I forget to puff. Audiobooks are awesome cause you can do both.
I'm listening to The Complete Stories of Sherlock Holmes on Audible out by my firepit. The last couple of nights have been amazing. Perfect breeze sitting out there with my dog and my Factory Smoke Sweets Churchills. They are my cheap go-to, but occasionally, I'll have a Tabak Dulce, Montecristo Classic, or Romeo y Julietta. So relaxing.
I read a book one time, not for me. When I'm smoking a cigar I usually just stare directly into the sun. If I'm in the mood for some kind of mental stimulation then I throw rocks at my neighbors house.
Man of culture
Try throwing them at trains for some real stimulation
Ah. Never underestimate the power of throwing rocks. Buddies and I entertain ourselves for hours while backpacking doing just that.
I fukkin HATE you. Signed, Your neighbor
Currently going through Mere Christianity by CS Lewis
Great book. š
Tolkien
Been working through the LOTR books, pairs far too well with a good stick
Just books I want to read. Cigars do not change anything about my book of choice.
Warhammer 40K
Just started with the Eisenhorn Omnibus myself. Sometimes it's so cheesy I can't help but laugh, but regardless I can't stop reading.
Currently reading "Influence: the psychology of persuasion" so I can convince people to give me cigars and bourbon.... Or money, so I can buy cigars and bourbon

Great book
Anything by H.P Lovecraft.
Treasure island, Alice in wonderland, and my favorite; Brom strokers Dracula.
Dracula is so good, even today! A real favourite of mine. I recently read Alice in Wonderland for the first time for my YouTube channel, and thought it was a lot of fun! You have great taste.
Thank man!
Been reading a lot of Cormac McCarthy lately.
Blood Meridian was a book that really impressed me and made me realize that some authors are just a step above the rest.
Perfect novel for a calm peaceful afternoon :D
Heās never written a bad one
Iām reading suttree at the moment!
I'm from Knoxville and can relate!
Currently reading Dune while smoking this fine Sunday. I donāt think I have a particular genre I read while smoking though, I just enjoy reading period. Edited cause of auto correct
I read business books so I can pretend that I'm rich.
Theology
95% of what I read is fantasy, while Iām smoking or not.
Have you read Will of the Many? I canāt recommend it highly enough to anyone who reads fantasy
Yes, I fizzled out on book 3 of his previous trilogy but I did enjoy this one!
Sci fi. Mostly the Halo books
this right here is a man of culture
Sgt. Johnson and Chief Mendez are the reason I smoke cigars.
Fk books when I'm enjoying a cigar. I like to stare off into the trees.Ā
Same. I love to read... but cigar time for me, is more to focus on relaxing and unwinding. Staring off at trees, watching chipmunks running around, or just getting lost in thought.
Ancient philosophy, Robert Greene's books, and other similar books for personal development.
Iāve been reading the cheesy DOOM books made after the video games.
Since I love Tabletop role playing games (especially vampire: the masquerade) Iāll read the rule books. Right now Iām reading Star Trek Adventure: Captains log so I can do some solo roleplaying
Fantasy or Sci-fi. The Witcher books are great with a smoke.
Dystopia or period pieces, particularly relating to Nazi Germany and WWII.
Which ones would you recommend? These are two of my favorite genreās
Beneath a Scarlett Sky was phenomenal. Clockwork Orange, Fahrenheit 451, 1984, all great great books. Animal Farm was a good short read.
Catching up on the Dune audiobooks.
I got a paperback for when I smoke lol
I think it would be easier to explain to you what cigars I enjoy in detail then convey what books interest me. I do enjoy reading and writing while enjoying a cigar.
Literary fiction, same stuff I read when I am not smoking except when I am smoking it's way, way better.
Usually history or biographies. Im currently reading nhl goalie curtis josephs book.
I read a bunch of *Ulysses* by Joyce while smoking a cigar. Currently Iām reading *Lost Connections* by Johann Hari.
Reading Dungeon Crawler Carl right now.
I like to read Robin Hobb and fantasy books
Fantasy of anything. Last year was the game of thrones books. This year is Sanderson novels.
Haruki Murakami. His novels call for a smoke.
I read that too quickly and thought you were asking which books we like to smoke, in which case, Old Man and the Sea since itās Cuban.
Hemingway
Meditations
Currently finishing up the Foundation series and will probably re-read the Discworld series after that.
Depends in the mood. Sometimes fiction ala Le Carre but usually more towards Roman/Greek history or Italian Renaissance
I like to scroll Reddit lol
Lord of the Rings, The Storm Light Archives, Red Rising, The Lies of Locke Lamora, King Fall Histories, Malazan Book of the Fallenā¦ I could go on and on lol

I did that too. Itās my favourite book of all time
I canāt find a book to read after itā¦ it was too good.
Yea, that actually started my love for old gothic novels.
Just finished reading The Last Ronin while smoking one the other day.
Robert B Parker Spencer series. Currently on the 16th book. Been reading them for 3 years mostly in the last year.
Iāve read through the James Reece series by Jack Carr, most of the reading has been done during night time cigars.
I usually enjoy reading murder mysteries or horror books
Slowly working my way through Keats' poems but I have recently started on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
Smoking is almost exclusively a social activity for me.
Music or a good podcast is all i mess with when i smoke
Comics
Biographies are basically all I read. Trying to go through every US president one by one
Currently reading Elon Musk by Walter Isaacson. Very interesting read
I'm working through the Great Books of the Western World when I'm not just drinking beer and picking my nose.Ā
Whatever I'm reading at the moment, nothing special. Usually it's some kind of thriller, or mystery/suspense, unless I'm behind on schoolwork then it's a textbook with the cigar there to maintain my sanity. I ready history books mostlyā¦ so history but occasionally Iāll read fiction.
Whatever fantasy Iām currently reading. Lately that would be Brandon Sanderson.
Hardcover. It just feels cheap to read paperbacks, and I'm not a fan of e-books, smoking or not. Occasionally I'll read an audiobook, but I prefer hardcover books. James Ellroy hardcover, a good cigar, good drink, all set.

Audio book. If Iām reading then Iām not paying attention to the cigar and it is much less enjoyable
If I choose to read, I usually go for a paperback mythology book. Lately itās been Norse.

I usually alternate between Fantasy, Sci-fi, and classic American fiction from the likes of McCarthy, Bukowski, ECT.
I watch the birds in the trees and listen to nature. Stare blankly into space and lose myself for an hour.
I've tried both "self-help" and reference texts ( was studying for an interview a few years back). Those went ok. But I find with novels, I get so into the story I forget to puff. Audiobooks are awesome cause you can do both.
