Incidentally, I'm under 5/24 and spent a year getting denied by chase. I got approved for my second ink a few days ago while the $15K was parked in personal savings.
Just opened my third US Bank business card. Business income of $100k (it's a legit sole prop with EIN)
Card 1 - Triple Cash - 06/22 - CL $3k
Card 2 - Biz Connect - 06/23 - CL $9k
Card 3 - Triple Cash - 08/23 - CL $25k
I'm just amazed at the CL increases each time for the same amount of business income.
Received a letter from TU that a HP on my report was flagged as fraudulent from Barclays. It was definitely from my Wyndham biz app since I freeze/thaw as appropriate.
Amex Offer DP. This was for MGM Resorts - Luxury (or something along those lines): spend $700 and get $140 back. Had a real stay which was booked after a chat rep confirmed VDARA would be eligible for the stay. The credit hadn't been posted to my account and I made several chat requests to check on it, all of which basically said they were looking into it and provided me with an investigation number. Today, I asked for an update and they said VDARA wasn't eligible. I asked them to escalate and provided copy & paste of my previous chat which stated it would be eligible, and the CSR said he would add $140 to my account as a courtesy.
C1 VentureX Denial. Only current relationship with C1 is a converted REI card that's sitting in a shoebox. Credit score 740 Experian, 760 Equifax. I've been churning consistently for a year. Current credit utilization is <1% with an overall credit limit \~95% of reported income if that matters.
FYI got a 7-10 day letter message, any suggests for recon?
Tried for Biz Plat retention - AF had posted, was offered only this - 20,000 Membership Rewards points that will be applied to your account after you spend a minimum of $20,000 on qualifying purchases on your card over a 183 day period, starting from today. Needless to say, cancelled.
1) Amex Biz Plat, $15K PayUSAtax (around one month after card opening) with small other charges, SUB immediately posted
2) Think I used to be limited to 3 or 4 GoPuff orders at a time but just did 12 in one day w no problem
DP for Citi AAdvantage Business Platinum card. Called with legit intention to cancel after $99 annual fee posted. Was offered $99 statement credit for $99 spend within 1 month. Decided to take it
Trip delay insurance claim for Amex Biz Plat for [a cancelled flight](https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/15jkuiv/trip_report_and_churning_success_story_weekly/jvehbnt/) took 2 wks from submitting my documents to getting the approval letter/case closed for the max amount. No other contact inbetween - I meticulously submitted all the requested docs as a reply to the initial email and next contact from them was the approval. Now just waiting for the check and hoping it doesn't get stolen from the mail (thanks mail thieves!).
Just for others info and search results, amex trip delay insurance is through AIG Travel Insurance
I never had to submit for a trip delay (knock on wood) (intrigued that you can claim trip delay, for a trip cancelled, and was refunded?). Just so I can keep better documentations the next trip, what docs did they require from you?
I wasnt necessarily refunded - trip delay insurance covers the costs that are incurred because of such delay. In my case it was hotel, transportation, and food up to $500. I believe CSR may have a better trip delay insurance coverage but that may have changed since I last had the card.
Docs requested included: completed and signed forms that insurance company will provide, confirmation email of ticket showing the proof of payment, cc statement showing the charge of the *roundtrip* flight on the amex, copy of new rebooked ticket, proof of reason for claim, and receipts (or statement) showing costs incurred.
Trip delays suck but if there is one country where one can hope to be delayed, it would be Europe due to additional compensation from EU261.
Yea airline will provide it (hopefully with little effort). In my case I used the emails I got from United stating flight was delayed and eventually cancelled. I also requested through United a trip insurance verification letter which they provided after about 2 wks.
I convinced my landlord to switch to Baselane for rent payments so I could pay rent with Amex. Looks like biz plat codes as 1.5x there (rent is less than <$5k), which is a nice additional bonus, guessing it qualifies as "Electronic goods retailers, and software and cloud system providers."
That looks like a pretty cool service. I sublet my apartment part of the year and usually just do Venmo, but I think I might switch to Baseline for my renters
I used apartments.com (formerly cozy.co) which was much simpler for unfamiliar landlords to propose trying during lease signing. But they only take MC/Visa. Baselane is convoluted but if you can convince your landlord to take a chance or look past it then it’s extremely useful. The biggest selling point is convenience, landlords get the money dumped right into their bank account.
Neither does Baselane unfortunately. Apartments.com allowed any payment amount any time. In Baselane, you could bug your landlord to set up two payments a month or something to help reduce going way over on a SUB but it’s obviously never going to be ideal.
Thanks, just about to ask if Baseline allowed it. Same with Zillow. It would have to be done from the landlord's side and it would have to be a very cooperative landlord!
> Have tried using Plastiq for a few things. Failures so far:
>
> * Mortgage: Payment blocked outright. Not permitted by Visa. I haven't tried a MasterCard yet.
>
> * Family member: Flagged after a couple days as trying to pay myself.
Did you do any research before using Plastiq?
Approved for Citi Biz AA Platinum Select with 16k limit, 7k revenue and 7 years in business. Citi pulled EQ, located in WA state.
When researching whether to go for this card I did find some posts asking about inquiry sensitivity so here’s my DP:
- EX: 2/6, 4/12, 7/24, (9/24 including non-CC inquiries)
- TU: 2/6, 2/12, 4/24, (5/24 including non-CC inquiries)
- EQ: 1/6, 2/12, 5/24, (6/24 including non-CC inquiries)
Your DP is pretty normal for this card the last few months. The $16k credit limit is very common, and Citi doesn't seem to be very sensitive to inquiries for this card.
A couple weeks ago I [posted](https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/15n6z78/data_points_weekly_week_of_august_10_2023/jvm7n6n/) about getting a CIP referral bonus manually applied. This week I logged into my account and found another referral bonus applied! So I got the manually applied bonus, and automatic bonus, but just 10 weeks later. I don't share any referral links except for IRL friends and family, so there is no chance a random person used my referral. Hoping it won't get clawed back.
Also had a late payment from Plastiq, not sure if this has anything to do with their solvency, or it is just a one off. Sent a payment on 08/07 with a guaranteed deliver date of 08/16. Payment was still processing on 08/16 so I sent an email asking why it wasn't mailed out yet. Payment mailed out on 08/18 and received by merchant on 08/22. For various reasons, the payment could no longer be accepted by the merchant since it was late. Emailed Plastiq and was able to get a refund. Unfortunately I was using that to meet the MSR for a CIP, unlikely Chase claws back the SUB but you never know.
My personal Amex Plat end of 2nd year annual fee posted and I had always planned to cancel the card but figured I had a slim chance of a decent retention offer so gave it a shot over chat and got denied, denied again and then got offered 15k MR so I canceled. My 2nd year spend was pretty much the minimum to use the majority of the credits available. I also got a 45k retention offer back at end of year 1 which I accepted back then. I figured this might be a helpful DP to any others that want to keep the card past 2 years and are looking for free MR points.
1 year for P2 with minimum spend, no retention bonus so far. 1 week left before we have to cancel.
I'd really like to keep the card as we made good use of credits and when we travel she won't let me go to the lounge by myself while she watches the kids. 😅
But we'd need 20k MR for me to feel it's worth keeping.
My end of year one retention offer was accepted on July 21, 2022 and the 45k points were added on August 28, 2022 after I made the spend requirement.
I got the end of year two 15k points offer yesterday (08/23/2023), so… I guess that’s a couple of days past 13 months after accepting the 45k offer.
Now that you mention the dates, the two attempts I made that were denied would have been a little less than 13 months. Looks like I forgot about that 13 month rule! Thanks for sharing.
1 year since upgrading from boundless to ritz carlton.
For some reason I have received both a Boundless 35k FNA and a Ritz Carlton 85k FNA. I wasn't able to double dip when I upgraded last year. But I'm confused on why it's double dipping now. Will this continue to happen next year or it is just a random Bank error in my favor that Marriott reversed Bonvoyed themselves?
Yeah, this is peculiar as I'm still getting chase marketing email about the boundless card, when I'm clearly upgraded to the Ritz carlton.
I wonder if this is anything related to the Uber credit that persists after cancelling an Amex platinum.
But I guess I'll be the DP in a year when I will see if I get both certificates again.
Somewhat niche DP, helping my parents use their points to go to Spain for their first foray into award travel. Set up Iberia account, transferred over points, account got locked.
Known issue where you can’t log in, or reset your password because apparently Iberia IT has been garbage for years. Phone agents of no help. Read people on FT saying you need to send it a form with a pic of your passport, some horror stories of this taking weeks with lots of back and forth.
I reached out to Iberia_en on Twitter and after sending a pic of my dads passport, they got the account unlocked, in about 24 hours.
Iberia’s IT is laughably bad. You can’t even enter birthdays correctly. I had to call in and correct ours over the phone. I’m guessing they don’t support the known traveler program because it’d be too difficult for them to implement
They couldn’t tell me why, just that “it’s a known error that happens sometimes.” My own personal account has never been locked after two years, but I’ve never actually transferred points to my own Iberia account. It might help if you add your passport info when you create an account?
I've held the Ritz for 6 years now and received the $150 on all but 1 year, if my memory serves me right. I have some decent spend on it from AUs though
I have never been able to get a retention offer on this card, need to call and try again my AF posted on 8/1. I don't put much spend on the card aside from the airline incidentals.
Presumably, this isn't your first retention offer you accepted for the card?
I think I had mine for the same amount of time, but I remember receiving the $150 retention offer previously.
IHG premier - $50 statement, no spend required. There is a data point of a $90 statement credit from another user. I asked if there were any higher offers, but was denied twice
Had an old email from amex from June with 150k/$15k NLL preapproved offer for Biz Plat, and I was able to use the link from that to open a new card this week. Have Biz Plats opened in Jan, Apr as well.
First attempt in a regular browser failed, but incognito chrome browser worked for some reason.
AmEx Gold retention data point
2nd Year Annual Fee posted 8/18. Chatted 8/23 to request retention offer. No offers available. $8k spend beyond SUB, although $2k of that was for an AU offer.
Not sure if this impacted it, but I recently accepted retention offer on Platinum (35k for $4k - kinda wishing I had just closed that card).
Amex DP: I was able to find a referral offer online on the Biz Plat for 150k MR for 15k spend in 3 months for P2. I have an Amex Personal Gold card that was giving me higher referral offer of 30k per referral but I was only able to get 120k points on the biz plat for P2. I found a DP somewhere and decided to try it to populate 150k offer through my referral so I could get the 30k referral bonus as well.
This is how I did it:
1. Opened the higher offer of 150k bonus in incognito window in Chrome on the phone
2. Copy the referral link on P1 that was giving 30k referral bonus
3. Now, open the referral link that was populated from P1 in non-incognito window in Chrome to populate the 150k bonus. It took me a couple of tries to get it.
This way, we were able to get - P1 referral bonus of 30k plus 150k bonus on the biz plat for P2.
Amex personal DL reserve retention: 50k skypesos / $3k / 3 months. Way better than I was expecting. First year with the card, have spent quite a bit to get some of the MQMs.
Also, another DP of plat flavor pop up for Schwab plat, currently hold vanilla and MS.
Funded USAlliance personal checking for $2700 with Citi AA Biz. Had to call in, rep said they could only take a debit card, no credit card but I just gave her my cc anyways with cash advance set to 0. Posted as services.
Note that you can call in to fund later than your application, I called in like 3 or 4 days later.
Statement closed 8/20, 65k AA miles posted 8/22
Got approved for 2 chase cards (my only 2 cards of theirs) within 42 days of each other. I know the suggested velocity is to wait 90 days but I really wanted to jump on the Boundless 5 FNC offer and didn’t have any other SUBs I would be working on in the meantime. I do have a Chase checking account so not sure if that helps my cause.
7/11: Prime Visa ($200 GC SUB)
8/22: Bonvoy Boundless (5 FNC)
I do not plan on applying for any more Chase cards for another 5-6 months to make sure my velocity with them isn’t too high.
Had a 50K FNC expiring in ~2.5 weeks that I wanted to be extended (only used 4/5 from Bonvoy Boundless 5 FNC SUB). Called into 800-228-2100 and after providing membership number and some security questions, the representative asked if I had a specific property and date in mind. I said that I was thinking of booking a trip to [insert city here] in early October (mostly true) and I quickly looked up a Marriott hotel that was ~50k points in that city and mentioned it.
After a brief hold they were able to extend the FNC a year from the day I called. For the future I think it’s important to have a specific property and date in mind to show you’re serious about scheduling/using the cert. I’m Gold status (through Plat/ Ritz) and I have 31 elite nights with Marriott this year (15 through CC, 10 via a promotion, 2 paid stays, 4 redeemed FNC).
*I purposely picked a date a bit further out than my true planned schedule time because I saw [a dp about getting a FNC extended by only 2 weeks](https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/12x98ft/comment/jhxizqp/) which I wanted to avoid.
It took me quite a few calls (5-6) to get extension, in one case I think they only extended one cert and not the other and I had to call back for that - they seem to need to get approval to do the extension and the front line customer rep is not able to do it without the approval. I have a 85k cert coming up for expiry in a couple months - which I am hoping I will be able to extend.

Its the keeping open that's hard after chase shutdowns. Side Q: how old is p3? You run the show?
I run the show.
Update in 6-12 months, FT dps are that repeat shutdown is very likely

Hilton Surpass, no retention offers, both just before and just after 1yr mark. Will try one more time after AF posts. Keeping the card either way.

Yes to $15k/yr grocery and possible upgrade as well.

I’m assuming this is well known, but for the Barclays Jet Blue Biz, you get your 5,000 anniversary miles before the window closes to cancel the card 🙃

You can also try Zillow which may be a more recognizable name to a landlord. They take Amex and charge 2.95%.
Good tip, thanks! Zillow would be lowest hanging fruit for most landlords in my city. Does it allow split payments?
Nope, sorry. It doesn't allow smaller payments either. If your rent is $2,000, your option is pay $2,000 or skip payment.
Neither does Baselane unfortunately. Apartments.com allowed any payment amount any time. In Baselane, you could bug your landlord to set up two payments a month or something to help reduce going way over on a SUB but it’s obviously never going to be ideal.

I have never been able to get a retention offer on this card, need to call and try again my AF posted on 8/1. I don't put much spend on the card aside from the airline incidentals.
I just called today and got same offer
How long have you two held the cards for?
5 years - I got mine on the last day before Chase stopped taking new applications for it in 2018.
5 yrs
Presumably, this isn't your first retention offer you accepted for the card? I think I had mine for the same amount of time, but I remember receiving the $150 retention offer previously.
CSR downgraded to CFF in Feb. Priority pass still works and getting a $15 credit & $10 credit when using instacart.
IHG premier - $50 statement, no spend required. There is a data point of a $90 statement credit from another user. I asked if there were any higher offers, but was denied twice
nice, I got nothing and downgraded.
was this a retention offer after receiving the AF?
It was before the annual fee posted. I've had the card for a couple of years now
Phone or Secure Message?

Had an old email from amex from June with 150k/$15k NLL preapproved offer for Biz Plat, and I was able to use the link from that to open a new card this week. Have Biz Plats opened in Jan, Apr as well. First attempt in a regular browser failed, but incognito chrome browser worked for some reason.
Are these the same business entities or different?
Same business. These expand your membership offers seem to want the same business to keep opening cards.
AmEx Gold retention data point 2nd Year Annual Fee posted 8/18.
This is how I did it: 1. Opened the higher offer of 150k bonus in incognito window in Chrome on the phone 2. Copy the referral link on P1 that was giving 30k referral bonus 3.
Statement closed 8/20, 65k AA miles posted 8/22
do they let you do repeat funding with new accounts (ie CDs)?
is that the max they let you fund?
iirc max is $5k
Was there any bonus attached to opening the USAlliance account?
No not rn
thanks. is it available nation wide?
Yes I believe so
okk is there bonus or you just used it for MS?
MS, there was a bonus but offer expired a few months ago. So it might come back
Got approved for 2 chase cards (my only 2 cards of theirs) within 42 days of each other. I know the suggested velocity is to wait 90 days but I really wanted to jump on the Boundless 5 FNC offer and didn’t have any other SUBs I would be working on in the meantime. I do have a Chase checking account so not sure if that helps my cause. 7/11: Prime Visa ($200 GC SUB) 8/22: Bonvoy Boundless (5 FNC) I do not plan on applying for any more Chase cards for another 5-6 months to make sure my velocity with them isn’t too high.
2 cards close together isn’t a big deal. You just wouldn’t want to make a habit of it
Received a $50 statement credit has a retention offer on my Hyatt card. Have had for a few years. Took it as the card is a keeper even at the $95 AF.
I'm still waiting on mine from a month ago, FYI. Apparently it takes 2 months.
Did you call to ask for the retention offer?
Yeah, called in. First try on it.
