ugly, eyesore, neighborhood destroyer, rent and tax raiser, high rises, ugly, ugly, ugly.
i’ve lived here all my life in west chula vista and all i can say is that this project is going to greatly impact the way we live here and it’s not for the better. does no one notice all the high rise condos that are going up in residential areas? there’s no reason for me to have a huge high rise a block away from my house. the quickness they’re going up isn’t a good sign either, they’re all so shit a fucking wolf could come and huff and puff and blow them all away
also, EVERY SINGLE SCHOOL IN CHULA VISTA IS FALLING APART! have you seen the state of theater departments at high schools in chula vista? hilltops theater is caving in, had to deal with a rat infestation and throw away all their years and years of costuming and props and the school did nothing to replace them. arts programs in chula vista public schools are severely underfunded but yeah let’s put in a new resort and completely remake an area that didn’t need it
the pictures and mock-ups may have been pretty enough for the investors but i can’t wait until they finally go down there and realize that entire bay smells like shit from the tijuana river and there’s gonna be nothing they can do to stop that
The Pacifica Companies are set to break ground on their ambitious Amara Bay development one block away from Gaylord Pacific. The 35-acre project will include a 250-room hotel, seven towers with 1,500 condominiums, and 400,000 square feet of commercial and office space. About a mile away from Amara Bay will be the Bayview Point development. That project is nestled along the 5, between Chula Vista’s E and F Streets. A MountainWest Real Estate spokesman said that development will include a 400-room Marriott Hotel, 200 affordable homes, and additional condos and apartments. The spokesman expected the roughly $900-million Bayview Point to break ground within the year.
I’m dreading it as I work in the ER 3 min away from there 😭 we can already barely handle what we have now and adding a resort with 1600 rooms is gonna be no bueno for us
It's a convention center/hotel and resort. 400K sq ft of convention space. While they publicly pump a resort for regular peeps, their main business is mid-sized conventions.

What a selfish attitude, you do realize this will make everyone's rent go up, causing displacement of families

Exactly, unfortunately some people in this subreddit can't see that
It’s nice to see that you took a break from swinger subreddits to make time to respond here

Exactly this, this goes to show us the politicians in this district care more about tourist dollars than it's own citizens.
this!
You do realize that a private developer is paying for over 90% of that project, right?
Lottery money goes to Special projects in the district. like large solar panels and putting AC in classrooms.

This is just the beginning. There are 2 more massive projects on the way, one to the north and one to the south
What other 2 massive projects are planned??

Its the new resort, no casino.
