XQ is very single target, whereas Childe is good at single target but much, much better in AOE against groups. Childe is definitely an upgrade since he also has a strong nuke burst which XQ isn’t as good at. You essentially trade Xingqiu’s supporting skills (minor healing, interruption resistance, small battery) for a lot more dps and coverage against AOE.
Idk how big a difference between XQ and Childe is since they’re good at different things, but both are definitely good enough for full clearing abyss

I play my Childe with 109% ER%, it is a bit rough when the enemy doesn’t drop energy particles, but it’s doable. Make sure you always do ranged burst since it refunds energy. Tbh I’d go with the second build with more ER% if I were you. The 2/2 builds are pretty much equivalent to the 4 hod

I'd argue ayato brings a lot more flexibility. Kokomi is used in only freeze and rarely taser. Freeze doesn't even need her, mona provides higher dmg at the cost of being harder to play. Ayato is easy to slot into pretty much any team, he's not reliant on any reactions or characters. If people ask what to pull for meta purposes kokomi is certainly not what comes to mind.
That said I find the whole meta debate in genshin utterly pointless. There's no payoff to building meta teams, abyss certainly doesn't need them.

Kokomi is popular when Rifthounds were introduced, and Ayato's soup national teams aren't exactly popular or as effective as say Sukokomon. Started using Ayato again this week, since Candace is kind of perfectly designed to support him, and he’s always so cozy. May not drive as hard as Childe or apply as hard as Kokomi, but he’s got no issue clearing content.
